>> we're looking for an alternative. we don't want to have pills forced upon us, we don't want to be ravaged from the affects of concussion and that to be a death sentence. >> reporter: the nfl announced in august of 2017 that it will donate $40 million for neuroscience research. jackson hopes the league will also back research into the cbd molecule. >> it could be seen as a trail blazer, the first league to throw money behind it and actually study it. >> since cbd comes from cannabis, how are they growing more of it outside of the marijuana plant? i'll take you to the lab in san diego and show you. >> that is coming up tonight at 6:00. and if you have a tip for our unit, give them a call at 888-996-tips, or log on to our website nbcbayarea.com/we investigate. a murder investigation centered at sfo and investigators believe a romantic obsession may be the motive
