weekend, gloomy weather. we've seen a lot of this, gray skies and some drizzle. our storm ranger is also tracking this system. our jechief meteorologist, jeff ranieri is with us. >> this storm system we're seeing is a little unusual. the may gray we've had all week long is pretty tenicypical for . we have dried out from any drizzle this. >> m-- this morning. it's developing off to the south of us. it looks like the heart of this storm system will stay to the south. that would keep the heaviest rainfall away. but we're still looking at the possibility of scattered showers. through tonight, we could get a little bit of shower activity developing near the coastline at 11:00 p.m. also showers near the santa cruz mountains in north bay at 2:30

costa jail. he was arrested in patterson after getting more than a dozen tips from the public. they say he robbed two women in a bank parking lot last friday afternoon at that bma parking lot, knocking the 93 year old to the ground before taking off. 93-year-old ann peterson remains in the hospital with a broken hip. the 64i-year-old victim has a message. >> i hope you never get out, that you'll neff be able to do this to anybody again. you are not a very nice man, are you a very bad man. and what you did was very, very bad. >> police say he is also responsible for a may 9th armed robbery at a lowe's store and may be connected to one other robbery in the south bay. disgraced hollywood producer harvey weinstein is set to turn himself in tomorrow.

he is under investigation in new york city, los angeles and london. dozens of women accuse him of rape, assault and other types of sexual abuse. among them, ashley judd and salma hayek. he says he went into treatment but denied any wrong doing. morgan freeman issued a statement today after eight women accused him of harassment or inappropriate behavior. freeman said in an it statement, i apologize to anyone who felt uncomfortable. many of the women say they weren't in production on freeman's films. what happened behind the scenes? why did president trump cancel the upcoming summit? the white house says north korea broke promises and stood up the u.s. delegation at a preliminary meeting. that prompted this letter scrapping the summit. it cites north korea's tremendous hostility and anger.

found in oakland, and another whale was found at tennessee valley beach. a deja vu traffic nightmare for commuters. water flooded over interstate 280, causing lane closures, delays and numerous headaches. robert handa joins us from that flooded area. it is dry now, but for how long, robert? >> reporter: well, i believe thousands of commuters would like to know that, sense it is happening twice here along interstate 280, and we're also near one of the pump stations where craws have opinion workben it all day, which is one of the reasons the flooding keeps happening. >> right now, this is at high volume, you see in that's the two or three pump stations constantly on. >> reporter: or maybe just one pump doing the job of many, since cal trans says multiple

water pump break downs led to the flooding. >> they know about the water. >> reporter: roger castile is a long-time volunteer with the guadalupe water group. he says water frequently spills over, because those roads are in one of the lowest sections of the valley. >> they actually undersized the pump stations. >> reporter: why did they do that? >> they just did not anticipate that much water would be coming from this artesian well. >> reporter: one of the two main pumps blew a fuse on may 16. the agency says it has been working on the two pumps since and it was a backup pump alone keeping the water flowing and off the freeway until it blew a fuse this morning. >> it's going to keep happening sporadically, and it's been happening for years. >> reporter: the crew here just told me this pump is now back in operation, and one worker is

standard changed to minimum use of force. >> by putting minimal in there, it's insinuating that they're not using minimal amount of force, and i think it's going to give a false perception that use of force incidents will change when that's not true. >> reporter: what's clear on this day is that no one on either side of the issue feels justice has been served. now mario woods' mother was not out here today. she was only given a 24-hour notification. she lives in sacramento and could not get off work. they say that's correct, they only gave 24 hours, and that that's standard so they did not create a public safety issue out here. coming up next at 5:00, talking for the first time about this. the man at the center of that barbecue scandal in oakland is telling his side of the story.

doing this holiday weekend, you'll find him grilling his famous tri tips at lake merritt using dollar coal. tour cut short. investigators say a mechanical issue triggered this fire. it broke out as the bus was touring north beach yesterday. all 15 people got out okay. two went to the hospital for smoke inhalation. they are out of hospital and doing okay. the self-driving uber suv involve in that crash did not stop because the emergency braking system was turned off. the video released by police, can you see it here, shows the moments leading up to the suv hitting and killing a woman back in march in arizona. investigators say the car's self-driving system spotted the woman about six seconds before the crash. but the braking system determined only a second before

impact that emergency braking was needed. motorized scooters are a hot topic right now. and leaders laid out their plan to regulate them in the city. the new san francisco powered scooter program requires a permit to park a scooter on the sidewalk or other public spaces. it comes after nearly 2,000 clients about scooters blocking sidewalks and riders bumping into pedestrians. after june 4th, there will be fines for people without a permit. it's a thrill for any teacher or parent. >> but for the parent of a child with a disability, it can mean so much more. it can be life changing. garvin thomas is here with their story in tonight's bay area proud. >> this is one of those stories i go into it, thinking it's one thing and it turns out it's a deep ermining.

on the face of it is a young woman with autism who discovers a passion for making and selling jewelry, but in the process giving her mother a wonderful gift. >> mommy's very proud. >> reporter: there are moments in life that may look simple. like a mother and daughter simply enjoying each other's company. but they will tell you there is nothing simple about a moment if you've been waiting 22 years for it. >> it's very special. very, very special. >> reporter: it was 1995, when a doctor told them that their daughter siri had autism, back when all of us knew so much less about it. >> when i heard autism, i didn't know how to spell it. >> reporter: still, they found the best schools and therapies for siri, and she responded well to them but never really bonded with her mother. it was a crushing experience. >> she would just leave the room whenever i would come.

and i know that she doesn't like for me to be around. there are days i remember, she would say no, mommy, only daddy, she would say. >> reporter: they can laugh now, because a few years ago, it all changed. after siri's school days were over, but before they found a day program for her, they were home alone a lot and not doing well. until one day, knowing siri enjoyed small tasks, her mother set her up to make jewelry and ended up making magic. siri loved it, could and did spend hours a day doing it. >> we can take the bracelets and -- >> reporter: and for the first time ever loved having her mother around. >> when she's in that zone where she's working or creating something, all her behaviors calm down. i think that's her real self that is inside. >> reporter: siri made so much

jewelry they could literally not give it away. people insisted on paying for it, and a business, designed by siri was born. she and now a dozen other adults and children with autism make and sell jewelry, hundreds of pieces a month. and the family has just launched the blue bracelet project, a fundraiser for autism-related charity. siri's parents say it is proof that the disabled are far more capable than we think, and the benefits from discovering it might surprise even those who know them best. so the blue brace lulet project that they just launched is a way to earn money for the autism. they sell them to raise money for their favorite charities. >> it's so therapeutic, you know, watching her making the jewelry. >> and i love what her dad said,

continuing to move to the north. also showers developing here as well. we'll monitor that closely for coastal activity, but the bulk of that would be staying out there offshore. what i'm tracking is this system that's developing to the south. and because the mane pain part e storm will stay to the south, heaviest rainfall will not be hitting us, but we're still keeping the shower chance in the mix. you can see possibly a spotty shower near the coast leline at 11:30. que will we will be looking at heavier rain along the central valley, only 50, 60 miles separates it from the east bay, but right now it's a scattered situation for your morning commute on friday. everyone starts off with a chance. the clouds, temperatures in the 50s, looking at this similar forecast for san francisco and the east bay. let's bring you back to the hour

by hour forecast. we'll hold onto scattered rainfall at 1:30 in the afternoon on friday, also continuing into about 7:00 p.m., then after that, we set up on this clearing trend. this storm should kick on out of here. and once we hit saturday as the three-day weekend begins our forecast will start to improve. temperatures will stay cool, about 10 degrees below average. keep your jacket with you and your umbrella in the back of the car, you may need it. widespread 60s from concord over to oakland. no big changes for the peninsula. we're also at 64 for redwood city, san francisco a few degrees cooler, close to the cold ocean breeze, 59 in the outer sunset and 57 for the embarcadero. and right through marin, sonoma and napa counties, 60 in mill valley. we see in san francisco, we push up to a mild 70 on memorial day with sunshine and we cool back down into next week.
