♪ of "asian pacific america." welcome to a special edition i'm robert handa, your host for our show here on nbc bay area and cozi tv. we have always prided ourselves in treating the artistic and cultural world with as much focus as the political and social issues we cover because it is a crucial part of the community, some would say the heart and soul. so, in that spirit, we present another program dedicated to artists in our asian-american and pacific islander communities. today, original songs by artists who performed on our show this past year. we had them record other songs during their initial appearance so we could present new performances, not reruns. with that, here we go. our first is from the musical "peace on your wings," a groundbreaking piece of work inspired by the life of sadako

sasaki, a 12-year-old girl who died of leukemia from radiation from the atomic bomb dropped on hiroshima. she was made famous for having folded over 1,000 paper cranes to fulfill an old japanese legend that would grant one wish to anyone who would fold 1,000 cranes. to this day, she is a reminder of the innocent victims of war, and her story inspired an international movement of folding cranes for peace. for the first time since the show's premiere in 2014, the show has a brand new cast of 20 youth ages 7 to 17 from all around the bay area. after that performance, you will hear a guitar prodigy, wilson zhang.cha, he hn playing classical guitar since he was nine years old.om tl conservatory of music, and was a finalist in the united states international music hall in new york. an inspiring youngis son"estudio #16" for us right after "peace on your wings." ♪
