according to the sheriff's department, an officer tried to pull over a driver for a traffic violation, two miles away from the crash site and the driver sped up and took off. the officer saw the same car crashed on the freeway near the bar station and it was on fire. i was told there was two people in the car and both taken to the hospital where one died. police haven't released many details at the time but some of the drivers said they were stuck in traffic for hours. >> i have been on the freeway for two hours. >> we thought we could make to francisco with the gas we had, but couldn't because of the hold up. >> we have learned that the county district attorney's office will investigate. reporting live, "nbc bay area

states in the 1970s traveled here from washington. >> i was in london at the time and i heard of their tragic deaths and i felt a connection with them because i was here also with the young people. >> a judge ruled construction likely contributed to the balcony giving way after loved ones filed civil lawsuits against the owner and builder. the victim's families declined to talk today. two former international graduate students witnessed the aftermath of the collapse, they feel a special connection to the students. >> it is hard to feel that it has been three years. >> the family and ambassador and general's office thanked berkeley's first responders for their quick work to save seven more students who were injured. >> given everybody involved and the families a place to know

rapidly-- it has burned 42- the wild fire burning near yosemite continues to grow rapidly and burned 32 scare miles, the size of san francisco and two firefighters suffered serious back injuries fighting the ferguson fire yesterday and four firefighters injured. another firefighter killed, the fire is only 7% contained. a dangerous situation in a south bay homeless encamp meant, a fire broke out there in san jose next to interstatere than o work to knock down the flames in a half hour. >> we had a fire here at the homeless campus. a big response and you can see it around the valley. >> no word if anyone living in the camp was hurt. looking into how the fire

low clouds and mist and the sea breeze preventing inland temperatures from getting warm and one of the hotter spots was concord, about 88 degrees and low clouds coming across the peninsula near san francisco and the mid and high level clouds for the most part bypassing the bay and look at the lightning strikes in reno into yosemite and smoke from the ferguson fire lifting through yosemite valley and some of it getting into lake tahoe. if you have plans towards the sierra tomorrow, repeat of thunderstorms could be possible and the greatest intensity of the showers like we are seeing now, should be from about 2:00 to 5:00 and it doesn't look like we're going to see showers around the bay area. only chance might be up around lake county or northern napa county and cloud build ups.
and closer to home, the low clouds you are seeing in san francisco and locally inland and we could start with drizzle and finish the day like today. mostly sunny skies and maybe not as much as the mid level clouds or humidity that we saw earlier this morning. temperatures to start the day tomorrow, mild. upper 50s and low 60s and through afternoon, temperatures climbing about two to three degrees warmer in most spots. mid 80s and upper valley, over temperatures into the low 90s. 70s from oakland to hayward and peninsula temperatures into the 70s and not much changed here in the mid to upper 60s and north bay temperatures into the 80s. things begin to change once we get past sunday and monday. from the desert southwest and
excessive heat warnings and in southern california. things look light now and the worst of the heat should be in southern california. and a slow cool down, numbers from the mid to upper 90s inland and dropping into the lower 90s next week and the 7-day forecast. the inland spots kracranking up. san francisco in the 70s. but yeah, tuesday, wednesday and thursday the heat coming back and we can see potentially multiple spare the air days and smoke from the ferguson fire could be moving in to the east bay valleys watching the air quality and heat from the middle of next week. >> one day at a time.
