smoke. one man is in the water. the owner says about 9:30 a.m. saturday his engine started funny. >> killed the engine, as soon as i heard this zach and poof. >> the flames and smoke swept into the boat quickly. >> one of our friends went into the water because the smoke was so overwhelming for him. >> mike was one of the persons watching the drama. >> i wouldn't want to be on that boat, no. small boat and nowhere to go with a fire like that. >> 911 call brought out fire boats from south san francisco and sfo but with the tide out the water was too shallow to put out fire and for other boats to reach the crew. only rescue boat that could reach the stranded fishermen was marine 7 of the san francisco police department. you can see the boat come up alongside and pluck one man from the water as the or three jumped
aboard. they operated the craft when they got the call and rushed to the scene. >> we have one of the fastest boats on the bay and we are capable of getting in shallow water. >> they were brought to oyster point in san francisco. three men were treated and one was taken to kaiser hospital for smoke inhalation. the boat was still burning into the late afternoon monitored by a south san francisco fire boat. >> we were able to go out on marine 7 to check out boat to make sure it wasn't a navigation hazard. the man who was hospitalized for smoke inhalation was treated and released. >> ama: tonight we're hearing from a san francisco man hand his sister about harrowing experience strand add at sea. they arrived in florida yesterday. last sunday the boat they chartered for a fishing trip
