breakin more on that breaking news now out of washoe valley. a man was killed after getting hit on the interstate. kolo 8 news now's rebecca kitchen is live with the details. the nevada highway patrol says one man is dead after he was hit by a car on i-580 near bowers mansion. trooper duncan dauber says the man was lying in the northbound lanes on i-580 when he was struck by a honda civic around 1:07 a.m. on february 8th. remsa tried to revive the man but pronounced him dead a short time later. care flight was reportedly enroute but was turned around. all northbound lanes on i-580 to bellevue road are closed in washoe valley. it is not clear if alcohol was a factor in this crash the nevada highway patrol says one man is dead after he was hit by a car on i-580 near bowers mansion.

high pressure will bring generally light winds and unseasonably mild daytime temperatures this week. strong valley inversions will continue today, then weaken during the next few days as weak low pressure slowly approaches the west coast. precipitation chances remain slim for the upcoming week. the main short term weather issue is the gusty east ridge level winds along the sierra crest and carson range, generally ranging from 50-60 mph since yesterday with a maximum gust of 74 mph at alpine meadows summit. these wind speeds should trend downward today, although some gusts near 55 mph could still occur. on lake tahoe, wind gusts were peaking near 25 mph on we're just a day away from the first primary of the 20-16 presidential race. the candidates are canvassing the granite state for votes. scott muh-klayn mclean is in manchester, new hampshire with the latest.

they will now adopt a new resolution in response to these dangerous and serious violations. divers will resume a search off the southern california coast today for wreckage from two small planes that collided last week. authorities say the remains of two victims and parts of one plane were recovered more than a 100-feet below the ocean surface yesterday. officials launched the search friday after both planes disappeared from radar, leading investigators to believe there was a collision. crews in new york removed pieces of the 565-foot crane that collapsed and killed one person and injured three others last friday. new york mayor, bill de blasio announced a new citywide safety measure for cranes following the deadly collapse. the new regulations will require crawler cranes to be placed in safety mode when winds reach 20 miles-per-hour and residents and business owners will also be notified whenever a crane is

sad news out of canada this morning. canadian police say two teenagers are dead and six others are injured after running into a concrete gate on a bobsleigh track. police say the teens broke into an olympic park to use the track. they say it branched off into a luge track - but it was separated by a concrete gate. two of the teens were pronounced dead on scene -- the other teens were taken to near by hospitals with injuries ranging from minor to critical. police say all of survivors are severely traumatized after the incident. in a matter of seconds, thousands of dollars in college tuition--gone-- after a virginia woman's purse was stolen at a dunkin donuts. roz plater reports. --reporter pkg-as follows-- the esteves family had stopped off at this dunkin donuts to grab a bite to eat before driving their 18 year old daughter back to college in pennsylvania. the family drove off...and and almost immediately...maria esteves realized she had left her purse behind...in it was her
