october. i'm sydnie kohara. it's 6:00 and it is a very busy morning. but we have to get you out the door with a quick look at weather and it's a little chilly this morning. but tracy humphrey is dressed for it. good morning. >> yes. dressed for it, sydnie. definitely want to know that it's going to be one of the coldest mornings we have had so far this season. i got the turtleneck on, boots, i even have on layers with thermals underneath only because temperatures in most of the bay area especially well inland in the 30s temperatures here in the city are in the 50s. it's going to be a chilly morning. a chance of rainfall moving into the bay area. weather coming up. for a look at your traffic, here's elizabeth. >> we'll get to elizabeth in just a second. let's go to anne. anne makovec is also at at&t park, and anne, you're right in the plaza in frontof the willie

mays statue. seen any die-hard fans? >> reporter: not yet. of course, it's several hours before the game. they can use all their energy for the first pitch at 4:57 tonight. we are still waiting for the action. it's always funny when we are out here so early in the morning and it's dead and then within the next few hours everybody starts waking up and the insanity begins. that's what we're expecting. let's check out the new addition to the field inside at&t park. the world series logo. isn't it beautiful? the park has been carefully manicured for its day in the sun. now, if you are not lucky enough to see this firsthand this evening there will be a big screen presentation of the game at the civic center in downtown san francisco. the whole city is in the spirit. a big fireworks show last night at golden gate park. the city's landmark buildings are lit up in orange. the starting pitcher tonight, tim lincecum. here's his take on pre-game superstition.

>> try to wear this cap as much as possible. i have had it since my rookie years so any chance i get a chance to wear it, i go with it. i switched up my gloves here and there, and i may be just cleaning my spikes before the game. that may be my only superstition. >> reporter: here are the ticket prices if you are still looking for a ticket for today's game. they range wildly on the website stubhub from $529 to $15,500 for the premium seats. on craigslist find tickets from around $215 to $1,200. and on ebay from $250 to $2,600. stubhub is the official retailer here for the giants and they are going to be on sale until two hours before the game. of course, i can only imagine the prices are only going to go up. this would be the first time the san francisco giants won the world series at home if it ends up happening, which of

course it will, right, sydnie? >> of course! of course. keeping the faith. anne makovec at at&t park, thank you, game one of the world series. inthink i see the first fan behind you, anne. thank you very much. the traditional world series bet is on between san francisco mayor newsom and the mayor of arlington, texas. the losing city's mayor will travel to the winner's hometown for a day of community service and have to wear the winning team's jersey. san francisco is throwing in crab, bread and beer. arlington is going to be sending barbecue to the mayor if they lose. want to let you know that bart will be running longer trains because of the big game today. people are encouraged to buy roundtrip tickets to avoid waiting in line at the ticket machines. now, another option is to use a clipper card and avoid the paper tickets altogether. in other news, crews are still working on a fire near

downtown san jose. let's go to mark sayre at 26th and santa clara streets. is it a fabric store that's been heavily damaged. >> reporter: yes. we are west of the 101 freeway. we want to show you some home video that we have just secured of the early moments of this fire. this was taken as fire crews were first arriving. you can see the smoke coming out of the building. the name of the business is wendy's party favors and balloons. crews were called to the scene and 3:15 this morning. they quickly called in a second alarm. took them about an hour to knock the fire down. this is a strip mall with six businesses including a print shop right next door to the party store where the fire started. fire crews very concerned about the materials inside that print store and they said that preventing the spread of the fire was their top concern. >> they did have active fire this that business so they went in with a quick interior attack, very aggressive. they also went on the topside and cut a hole to help keep the

fire to the area. they were successful in keeping it contained, it did not spread to the neighboring unit. >> reporter: the majority of the party supply store was destroyed. but no injuries to any fire personnel here fighting this fire early this morning. >> thank you, mark sayre in san jose. let's get another check of weather and traffic. we are going to start with elizabeth. a lot of people want to get to work, get it done and get home to watch the game. >> or maybe they are taking the day off. i know one person. i won't name names. but yeah, so traffic has been quiet so far this morning. we haven't seen a whole lot of accidents or congestion. i do want to let you know about one thing going on in petaluma. northbound 101 so it is going against the commute approaching petaluma boulevard south a car rolled over into a ditch. all the activity including chp is off to the shoulder so we don't have sensors in that exact area but we are told it's

just minor delays. again no lanes blocked right now. if you are commuting southbound 101, that looks great from novato down into san francisco. live look at the golden gate bridge, you can see it is trouble-free across the span. we'll show you a couple of other bridges. san mateo bridge good approaching the toll plaza. no delay. all green on our sensors meaning top speeds towards foster city and san mateo. and a quick look at the south bay, coming through downtown san jose. looking good at 880 interchange. i'm having a problem with that button today. all right. let's go out to tracy, who is live at at&t park, a true giants fan even though she is wearing cowboy boots. isn't that texas o you? i think i think somebody likes us. you said something about my cowboy boots? >> that's texas of you. >> no, you take it and you own it. i'm wearing it and i'm donning it in a san francisco way. so now it belongs to us.

to the fda asking for a ban on menthol in cigarettes and flavored tobacco products. they claim such products target young people. the fda is currently reviewing information on menthol cigarettes. well, with just a week to go until the election, carly fiorina is in the hospital. the republican senate hopeful has an infection connected it a surgery following her fight with breast cancer. her campaign says she is getting antibiotics and hopes to be back on the campaign trail later this week. we have all seen those nasty campaign ads on television. jerry brown and meg whitman were asked if they would ease up before next week's election. >> let's be clear about it. if she takes her negative ads down, i'll take mine off no question. >> i want to make sure that people really understand what's going on. >> both candidates for governor were in long beach yesterday appearing at a women's conference. the event was likely the last

state budget cuts are crippling my classroom, so i can't believe the sacramento politicians cut a backroom deal that will give our state's wealthiest corporations a new billion dollar tax give-away, a new handout that can only mean larger class sizes and even more teacher layoffs. but passing prop 24 can change all that. prop 24 repeals the unfair corporate give-away and puts our priorities first. vote yes on prop 24, because it's time to give our schools a break, not the big corporations.

good morning. we want to start off with a situation going on in american canyon. westbound 80 approaching american canyon road word of a small brush fire off to the shoulder. right there approaching red top road, again, maybe a visual distraction through the stretch of westbound 80. commuting towards the carquinez bridge, everything look great through here. live traffic there across the span, in fact, we are not seeing any yellow on any of our sensors down the eastshore freeway. nice drive time. 18 minutes from the carquinez bridge to the maze. no metering lights light yet at the bay bridge toll plaza. our bay bridge toll plaza camera isn't working today. but i can tell you that there is no delay approaching the bay bridge. going to be a whole different story later on this afternoon. game one of the world series starts this afternoon at

4:57:00 p.m. so expect some extra heavy traffic around at&t park along the embarcadero. we'll talk about mass transit options in just a minute. in the meantime, we have a couple of sporting events going on tonight. warriors, they play over by the oakland coliseum at 7:30. season opener and there is a sharks game as well also at 7:30 at hp pavilion. a lot of traffic-y situation going on later on this evening. northbound 280 looks good heading out of downtown san jose so far. drive time for the stretch, northbound 280 from 101 to cupertino, 11 minutes. mass transit a great idea heading into san francisco later on tonight to get in on some of the action around at&t park. bart is running longer trains and caltrain is a good option as well as several ferry services. alameda-oakland ferry and the vallejo ferry are both offering direct ferry service to at&t. speaking of at&t, there is no traffic out there now except for tracy on our live truck. >> hey, elizabeth. traffic is starting to pick up a little bit here on the

embarcadero. i'm outside of at&t park where all the action takes place later on this evening. game one of the world series is such a big deal. we thought, hey, why shouldn't i be out here too? i want a piece of the action because i can't really afford of the piece of the action because tickets are so expensive. i figured i'd get in on it early. >> you know what i mean? forecast for today. it's going to be another beautiful one, plenty of sunshine expected. but it's also going to be a cold start to the day so the out-the-door forecast, valley frost expected. we have a frost advisory in effect for north bay valleys and the mountains until 8:00 this morning. temperatures very well could dip down to the lower 30s when frost is possible around the bay and also for the coastline temperatures in the lower to the mid-40s. for this afternoon, mostly sunny, warm temperatures inland topping off in the lower 70s around the bay pretty nice another beautiful one mild temperatures in the mid- to upper 60s. and temperatures topping off in the lower 60s along the coastline with a little bit of

hazy sunshine expected. seven-day forecast, again today the last dry day officially with a chance of showers moving in as early as tomorrow. chance of showers in the forecast thursday, friday, saturday and sunday. with the chance of rainfall temperatures will be cooling down a bit by monday and tuesday, conditions will start to rebound along with slightly warmer temperatures. so again another beautiful day today but showers are moving in just around the corner as early as tomorrow. the giants again are going to be playing later on today. really nice forecast taking on the texas rangers. 59 degrees partly cloudy skies. that is -- oh, i have a chopper picture. okay chopper 5 is up this morning. it's a beautiful day. we don't have many clouds out there already this morning. so a beautiful shot this morning. and we are expecting a nice day nice picture there at the ballpark. it's going to be pack where all the action is supposed to take place. back inside to you.

>> 59 degrees. a lot of rangers fans might be having to buy some san francisco sweatshirts this evening. >> you know what? it's going to be a little chilly. >> but as long as you're pack in with your hot dogs and beverages, all is good. >> it's going to be a great night. thank you. in the headlines, san jose firefighters are still on the scene of a large fire east of downtown. it started about 4:00 this morning. there is extensive damage to a fabric store. police in becker are searching for the gunman who shot and killed one man and wounded another. this happened near the corner of sacramento and russell streets. way, told the shooters fired as many as 60 shots. police think the victims were targeted. and today tesla motors will officially open the old nummi plant in fremont. that plant was closed in april when toyota pulled out. it will be at least a year before the factory is ready to start making tesla's model s sedan. and new this morning a

disturbing trend among high school students. almost 50% who were surveyed admit to bullying someone in the past year including physical abuse, teasing or taunting. researchers found that 10% even brought a weapon to school. 6:22. the world series hasn't started but one player is already thinking about retirement. >> i think once we are done with baseball we are going to sit down with the pina colada somewhere and we are going to... >> why rangers catcher bengie molina will get a world series ring even if his team loses. ,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, [ male announcer ] barbara boxer failed

good morning. it is wednesday, the 27th of october. i'm sydnie kohara. your time is 6:30. the world series begins this afternoon with the giants hosting game one against the texas rangers. anne makovec is at at&t park where you can probably get a seat if you have a lot of money. >> reporter: definitely. the ticket prices are going up and getting high. there are a couple of ways to watch the game for free, though. let's check the latest prices from overnight.

stubhub you can find them ranging from $529 to, get this, $15,500. some of the other sites like craigslist and ebay have them arnold $200 to around $1,200. so --have them around $200 to $1,200. i'm here with jo-ellen a spokeswoman for stubhub. how does this compare with other world series tickets? >> demand is much higher than years past and fans are excited looking for tickets. so as you said, tickets start on stubhub for $550. but that's not to say that that will go up or down. it really depends. the marketplace is always fluctuating. right now they are close to 1,000 tickets still rabel. everything is fully garn ted so you will get into the game. now prices start at $500 for today's game but for tomorrow prices actually are a little cheaper. so if you are looking to go to the game today may be a little too expensive they start at $400 tomorrow and go up from

from at&t park. a lot of texas fans in town and we want them to enjoy our beautiful weather in our beautiful city. >> it's cool out here. temperature near 50 in san francisco. i got on the jacket, i got on the turtleneck. i'm still freezing! i know, 50 isn't literally freezing but you stand out here long enough and it's cool. we have a frost advisory in effect. so heading out the door, bear in mind north bay valleys and mountains have a frost advisory in effect from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. temperatures as cold as 32 degrees. we'll see temperatures around the bay in the lower to the mid- 40s for this morning and also temperatures in a similar range along the coastline because we have mostly clear conditions. all that warming that we had yesterday released back into the atmosphere with the absence of clouds. our forecast for the afternoon how about some sunshine? i'll take that. warm up lower 70s that's nice. more sunshine for the bay and

the upper deck. back to you, sydnie. >> thank you. it's 6:38. right now crews still working on a fire near downtown san jose. let's go to mark sayre at 26th and santa clara streets where a fabric store was heavily damaged. >> reporter: good morning. >> good morning, sydnie. this is a two-alarm fire broke out around 3:00 a.m. here on east santa clara street. we are just to the west of the 101 felipe. let's show you video that we took when we arrived here this morning. this is wendy's party favors and balloons. fire crews called here by 911 a second alarm called. when they arrived, smoke and flames were showing. it took crews an hour to knock it down. this is in a strip mall with 6 adjoining businesses including a printing company which had chemicals and what not that fire crews were concerned about. fire officials say preventing the spread of the fire is one of the top concerns. >> they have active fire so they went in with a quick interior tack, very aggressive.

they went in the topside and cut a hole to keep the fire to that area. they kept it confined not to the neighboring unit. one. neighbors units was a print store. fire crews concerned about the materials inside the printing store so they made it a priority to protect that print store which they did successfully. they say most of the material inside the party supply store was destroyed in the early- morning fire. no injuries to any fire crews or members of the public here. the business was vacant at the time of the fire. >> i see somebody up on the roof behind you so they are already inspecting it and check the damage. thank you, mark sayre. less than a week until the election and a big push by some elected officials to get out the vote in silicon valley. kcbs radio's matt bigler joins us live by phone. matt, good morning. i understand there's a specific group that they want to see at the polls. >> reporter: yeah, we are talking about legal immigrants. and the background on this is

that there was a news conference here in san jose yesterday at the santa clara county government offices where immigrant right groups as well as local politician got together to send a simple message. if you are a legal immigrant and you are registered to vote, do so next tuesday. the fact of the matter is many immigrants have found themselves the target of not only recent legislation in arizona but also a series of negative campaign commercials. we spoke with a congresswoman who said it frightened legal immigrants from turning out on election day and says that's unfortunate. >> we are a nation of immigrants. we have to have laws we enforce but to allow people to create a climate fear is not good for the country or community. every vote counts. >> reporter: that message was echoed by others at the news conference. many saying that if we want to create a tolerant society, then voting is one of the best ways

good morning. things are improving now through richmond on westbound 80 down the eastshore freeway. you see tow truck symbol there and it was cleared westbound 80 approaching carleton. we were seeing red on our traffic sensors but now speeds are up to 47 miles per hour but still sluggish if you are making your way down from hercules. once you get past carleton speeds improve down through the macarthur maze. at the bay bridge toll plaza, they did turn the metering lights on backed up just to the end of the parking lot. and as you can see from this live camera, once you get on the upper deck, past the incline, then we are looking good all the way into san francisco and towards southbound 11. earlier issue southbound 680 approaching north main street there was a pipe in the roadway. apparently six cars drove over it and it caused them to get flat tires so we had six different cars off to the right shoulder. fortunately the pipe has been picked up so no longer seeing

next round of "quantitative easing" to spend billions over the next few months. the fed may buy as much as a trillion dollars worth of u.s. treasuries right off the bat figuring that that large purchase will lower borrowing costs particularly for corporations so they may use that money to fuel future takeover activity but they are not getting that according to that report. the stock market is heading lower along with the report on durable goods orders for september. while they rose 3.3%, that was mainly fueled by a huge order in airplanes for boeing. when you take that away, durable goods orders actually fell by 1%. they have declined in computer sales. report on manufacturing, one of the better parts of the economy but it's showing signs of slowing in the past couple of months. right now the dow is lower by 63, nasdaq down buy 1, s&p off by 5. get ready to look for some changes in your yahoo email account. the company is going to roll out changes big makeover for
