outside. firefighters are still working on it. u.s. marines are in the philippines to help out. the philippine government asked for the government's help. it is believed 10,000 people died in the storm. it would make it the headilyiest disaster in the philippines. we look at the stunning devastation left in haiyan's wake. >> it was not until today that the scale of devastation became clear that thousands were killed. it will be days before the full exat extent of the damage can be assessed. haiyan hit on friday and quickly barreled across the central islands. winds and 20 foot waves washed away homes and schools.

typhoon. back to you. >> this is what typhoon haiyan looks like from space. you can see the storm is gigantic. it is expected to hit northern vietnam tomorrow morning. people there are getting ready. schools and markets are closed. 170,000 military troops are moving nearly a million people to safe zones. and the bay area is doing what it can to help in the relief effort. the aid may be coming in, it could be awhile until it gets to those who need it the most.
