this is kpix 5 news. just when you thought the b.a.r.t. saga was over, tonight we learned they made a very big mistake. >> we could hear a grown right now from commuters. what is going on? >> reporter: you know, i am growing with them. the lates chapter in the b.a.r.t -- latest chapter in the b.a.r.t. saga, this could send negotiatioback to square one. >> reporter: just when riders thought it was over the dispute is back. remember the contract that ended the b.a.r.t. strike? management now said there is a glitch in it. >> stuff happens is all i can say. >> reporter: he told us buried in the contract when is hundreds of pages is a
provision that gives workers six weeks of family leave, b.a.r.t. management said that shouldn't have been in the contract. >> we don't know how it got in there and we are trying to work with the unions to resolve this. >> reporter: the unions already ratified the contract and in a statement they said b.a.r.t. management is attempting to go back on an agreement that was part of the final deal. b.a.r.t. board members plan to meet to talk about the problem tomorrow. >> reporter: is there a responsibility that worse case scenario we could be looking at another b.a.r.t. strike? >> i don't think that is -- that has much potential but, of course, anything is possible. >> reporter: the next step is for b.a.r.t. management to figure out how costly this mistake could be. they are trying to calculate how much it would cost to give
them six weeks paid family time out. christin ayers, kpix 5. >> and they will go a week from today. tonight what looks like another hate crime involving a transgender teen. >> reporter: surprising when you look at this video that no one was injured during the fight but the police department is looking at whether or not this is a hate crime. >> i heard screaming and then everybody ran out. >> reporter: this is what hercules high school student saw yesterday afternoon. a fight between a group of girls and a transgender teen. >> a bunch of teachers trying to stop it. >> reporter: administrators tells us the transgender teen started the fight after being
taunted. all over campus there are signs like this one warning disruptive conduct could lead to fines and jail time. the fight with the transgender teen comes days after an agender teen was set on fire on a bus in oakland. it is leaving parents to tackle tough conversations about right, wrong and fighting. we got a sketch of a guy who sexually assaulted a student at deanna college. white man, early 20s. it happened last week in the bath room. the victim said the man was also a student. a big thank you tonight to everyone who donated during our telethon to raise money for the red cross typhoon relief
effort. we raised $376,792. that money will go a long way. 2300 people donated. a viewer in fremont saw our telethon mismorning and wanted to -- this morning and wanted to help so she drove in to help answer the telephone. >> americans are so active in service. we know in the nursing field how many filipino americans are there to take care of us. this is a time for us to take care of those suffering. >> military sade finally -- aid is finally reaching the philippines. tripling the number of helicopters to deliver supplies. 5,000 crew members are on

asian communities outside of the chinese san francisco china town is the oldest china town in the county and home to one of the largest asian communities outside of china but the population is shrinking. >> reporter: china town has been a gateway for immigrants since the gold rush. they live together, shop for familiar foods and socialize. but something happening that threatens the survival of this
community. on average a 17% drop in the chinese population around china town in the past 10 years. >> the main reason is because they are forced out. >> reporter: property values shot up because of the tech boom so landlords are getting out of the business. econvicting 10 wants so they could sell their units. there are two apartment buildings being converted. that means a half dozen families will disappear on this one block alone. including him and his wife. they lived in their neighborhood for 30 years. they have till february to move out. this. i don't know where to go. as seniors i really worry whether or not any landlord will rent to me. >> reporter: they live on social security checks and get subsidized for their unit. their share just under $500. a one bedroom is now going for $3,000 a month. housing counselors believe that will be disastrous for them and others like them because they depend on their community to survive. >> medical needs. they can go to the doctors. they rely on the services here. >> reporter: protesters rallied against the eviction but the law is on the side of real estate. still as they disappear there is also an impact on the economy. >> as we see the neighborhoods changing there may be a
different demand. >> reporter: he asked why a law would allow anyone to econvict an old woman like her. -- evict an old woman like her. >> reporter: is linda yee, kpix 5. >> property prices are also blamed in new york city and philadelphia. one mother is caught between a rock and a hard place. a judge told her to stop breast- feeding so she could stay with her father two days a week. it is part of a custody agreement. the mom says there is nothing agreeable about it. >> he said she should be on formula or why isn't she on formula. i am feeling frustrated.

[ music ] >> reporter: when he goes to battle tomorrow as the bat kid he will take on the riddler, penguin and the joker. he gave bat kid a lesson. >> he went up there. all the way up there and he did flying trap ease. he flew out over the whole room and then one kid came down into the net. everyone was clapping. >> people from all over the world are applauding, celebrating his story with
pictures and posters. >> this outpouring of love is incredible. inspired. i hope it will serve more children. i hope it helps makes his day incredible tomorrow. >> reporter: tomorrow bat kid will save a damzel in distress and he will receive the key to the city from the mayor at city hall and that is where volunteers will come into play. they put out a mock up of what they will pass out tomorrow. glorifying a hero who has become an inspiration to us all. >> amazing. >> fantastic. >> i heard adam west, the actor who played bat man on tv, he actually called to see how he could help out? >> reporter: he did. they have been getting a lot of
