the procession went for miles. along the way fellow officers could be seen standing on freeway overpasses, on board fire rigs. >> he was a very loving, very gentle spirited young man. >> reporter: chavez knew him for years. a youth pastor. >> we don't understand how could something like this happen. we're devastated. and i just can't imagine what roxy and her children are going through right now. >> reporter: his wife road with officers on the procession today. he had three children one a toddler. cantaleri was killed late christmas eve when a drunk

driver ran into his pa patrol car. he had been on the force for a year. cantalari's death hits painfully close to home. >> you never really think when you send them out to work that they may not come home. now the chp is holding a memorial bell ringing tomorrow for officer cantaleri scheduled for 11: 11:00 a.m. police arrested 117 drivers from friday evening to last night. that is up 48% from a year ago. a car rammed into this home. it happened at 6:00 near los padres. fortunately no one was home but two people had minor injures.

the car skidded across the ground. the police department posted this picture. you can see the car barely miss the front door. it's unclear if one house will be livable. tonight the city of san francisco is suing the department of -- of defense. the city claims the pentagon is not doing enough to protect people that shouldn't have guns. >> reporter: this lawsuit should be in the works for several weeks now asking for an injunction to get the defense department to do its job. san francisco city attorney dennis her era joined forces with philadelphia and new york demanding that the department of defense comply with the law. >> clearly there's a need to make sure the department of law
