campus. good morning. >> good morning. the berkeley health department confirming to us that the team fumbled and following proper covid safety protocols. they said the team didn't test and didn't stay home when they were sick. the health department confirming the team didn't mask up while they were inside. the athletic director said those who didn't take the trip to arizona for last saturday's game tested positive for covid. we are talking 24 players were missing including starting quarterback chase garber. even more players test the positive for covid with cal and also usc this weekend. 99% of the team though is vaccinated. the team is frustrated all of this. the frustration stems to center around some confusion between the city of berkeley and the university health services

testing policy of testing vaccinated players. the athletic director confirms no test means no play. >> you aren't following berkeley public health's guidance which is executed by the university of california and ultimately the one i would -- we are doing what the university of california said and you wouldn't be able to play. >> going to social media venting their frustrations. also the game on saturday. when that will be played again? i will dive into all of that. we are live in berkeley this morning. i'm justin andrews. the live news desk. we are following the latest on the pfizer bid to have its booster shot approved for everybody over the age of 18. it's applied two federal regulate ears and they are expected to make their decision very soon. we are talking about the fda and the cdc. right now boosters of the pfizer and moderna shots are only available for people over the age of 65.

those with severe medical conditions that would leave them compromised or those who live and work in places that would put them more at risk. the fda expected to grant the request before thanksgiving and well ahead of the other holiday gatherings. we are expecting in december. now cbs mornings will have a little more with the united states surgeon general. happening today the governor is scheduled to visit a vaccine and flu shot clinic in los angeles county. >> he is expected to push for booster eligibility and getting kids vaccinated. we are live from the n mateo event center where they have a play land themed vaccine clinic. >> we are talking a clinic with superheros, a red carpet this is in an effort to help kids feel more comfortable as they get their shot. let's take a look at the video this is from last weekend with the vaccine clinic. you can see the friendly

characters greeting kids just to help them distract themselves as they get their vaccine. last weekend appointments build up quickly and hav appointments today through saturday. they are receiving the pfizer vaccine. it's a third of the dose authorized for those 12 and older. in addition to the state trying to encourage families to get their children vaccinated, the governor urged people to get them in order to avoid the surge the state saw last winter. >> starting to see hospitalizations go back up. it's the winter surge. that's why i can't impress you more, get that booster shot. it's safe, it'll save your life. >> this vaccine clinic today is starting at 2:30 p.m. again it's at the san mateo

event center. appointments can be made through my turn. new this morning the independent journal is saying the county see age high demand of coronavirus vaccines. they started giving shots ages five to 11. over the first three days of vaccinations. more than 2300 between that age range were vaccinated out stripping supply over the weekend. first responderns in alameda have until december 21th it get fully vaccinated. it's all part of a new rule that applies to those who enter high risk health care facilities. anyone not vaccinated must test weekly and wear a mask. i got vaccinated. i want to see my family. >> rules rules. >> yeah. >> you know if they don't see us -- for themselves, i guess sometimes it's good for your family too many. >> we want to save each other. we should all get the shot. >> right now a booster shot

isn't required to be fully vaccinated. santa clara county jails seeing a huge spike in covid cases. it started -- with 15 infections. at least 84 new cases surfaced. a woman whose husband is an inmate blames improper mask wearing by deputies. the. and car break-ins in san francisco have gotten so out of hand that tourists are being warned not to rent cars. >> businesses say they see break-ins in broad daylight every day. the da's office said right now only about 2% of car burglaries in san francisco result in an arrest. they prosecuted the overwhelming majority of them. they said that's good and

set for a status hearing at ten this morning. in september san mateo county judge ruled peterson will be resentenced to life without parole. a former charles manson follower has been recommended for release by the parole board again. she was found guilty of participating in the 1969 stabbing death of a couple, one of the crimes committed by the cult known as the manson family. yesterday she had a 24th appeal before the parole board. she was found fit for release for the 5th time. the four previous approvals have been reversed by california governors. testimony in the elizabeth holmes fraud trial will continue later on today. this after the man who once ran the lab revealed the company was not using it's own machines
