buffalo's mayor says politicians and tv personalities pushing that kind of hateful rhetoric also bear responsibility. >> these public figures are absolutely complicit. they tried to proliferate hate speech and indoctrinate people in the community in these misguided theories, misinformation. >> the suspect had plans to go to another store after the rampage, investigators say, but he was arrested first. grbac . >> kpix 5 reports on the call for united action against hate-fueled violence. >> reporter: a call to action after a massacre at a grocery

4:30. a southern california community mourning the man killed at a shooting at a church and giving thanks that his bravery prevented even more people from getting hurt n a vigil held in honor of 52-year-old dr. john chang, chang was killed after he tackled the suspect who opened fire inside the church in laguna woods yesterday. five others were injured. investigators say the 68 68-year-old suspect traveled from las vegas. he used super glue on the doors and locks. the suspect is a u.s. citizen who emigrated from china years ago. >> it's a politically-motivated hate incident a grievance this individual had between himself and the taiwanese community u. >> the atf says he purchased his

guns legally in 2015 and 2017. tonight a reward is at $60,000 to find a missing woman. alexis gabe told her family she was visiting her boyfriend in antioch. they recovered the oakley woman's phone case. they brelieve it ar see waway f her car on date of her disappearance. when kpix's sarah donchi dug into the numbers -- >> reporter: volunteers count up as many people experiencing

home homeless as they can physically see. >> we know the methodology is vulnerable but it gives us a way to estimate how many people in our region are unhoused or most at risk frankly. >> reporter: the numbers may be surprising to some. san francisco saw a drop in homelessness of 3.5% from 2019. >> i think it has a lot to do with the resources, the public-private partnership, all the various things we're doing in san francisco, but it's not easy. it's still a lot of work, and we're going to keep working at it. >> reporter: the city of oakland saw 24% interest. contra costa county saw the largest increase at 35%. counties that take steps to address the crisis by adding shelt shelter beds could experience larger numbers because numbers are easier to count.

new at 11:00, the fda has approved the first over the counter test that detects covid and flu. health care experts will contact people who test positive for any of the viruses. a key step addressing the nationwi nationwide shortage in baby formula. abbott says it has reached a deal with the fda to reopen its plant. it makes about 40% of all the baby formula sold in the u.s., so the plant closure has led to severe shortages. the fda says production could resume in two weeks. the truth is out there, and tomorrow congress may finally shed some light on it. >> for the first time in over 50 years, a house panel will hold an open hearing on ufos.

chance of showers. for the medium category tomorrow and wednesday, thursday and friday. the warmer days yielding more pollen. oak, mulberry and grass pollen. the grass pollen not going anywhere. outside, clear skies overhead, temperatures in the 50s across the board. 57 in san jose. we're not seeing a whole lot of fog on the horizon just yet. it's going to dissipate. and high pressure in the upper levels of the atmosphere will help build the temperature up. it will be where swe should be,

mid-60s. warmer as you go farther inland. upper 70s in san jose. far inblland, you're warmer. the exception to all of this, right along the coast. that onshore breeze going to keep temperatures in the mid-50s for pacifica and half moon bay. a similar trend on wednesday. we're going to be well above average, for most of us, anywhere from 7-15 degrees above normal. couple degrees below average along the coast. that completely losing that onshore influence. it is a noticeable warm up. around 70 in san francisco. upper 70s oakland. cool off a few degrees thursday and jump right back up to above-average temperatures friday, saturday and sunday. upper 80s to around 90 degrees. maybe not that toasty over the weekend, but still well above
