8-year-old sophia mason from hayward. after a statewide search the man police believe is responsible for her death is in custody. betty spoke to her family. >> this is 33-year-old dhante jackson facing murder and child abuse charges in the death of 8-year-old sophia mason found dead in a bathtub in march. her mother samantha was charged with murder and child abuse. melody is her cousin. >> i couldn't believe it. it teams like a long time coming. but just knowing she was picked up in newark which is where samantha was picked up in newark i don't know. it was around the around the same circumstances with a prostitution ring. he's deposited bail set for a million dollars. >> agent from merced area gang

the town of georgetown. yesterday was 97 degrees. they've had hot conditions. not one home was damaged or caught fire while doing the structure protection. they've been fighting a lot of fires all night working 24-hour shifts. >> huge plumes are being lofted toward the bay area. as for weather more or less is on the way and whether the air quality is unhealthful. >> well the good news is by monday we are going to get help but tomorrow is probably going look a lot like today. i just want to show you. you have a hard time remembering nightsing things. looking south, that is just kind of a soup of haze. some of that is wildfire smoke from the mosquito fire but it's mixing with clouds coming in from what once was a tropical storm but i just want to drive home the point how much smoke

that mosquito fire is putting out. the lake literally sits right there. the forest doesn't just end there. that's the lake. the smoke is so thick in tahoe today air quality sensors are in the hazardous category. while we are generally yellow bay area wide which is moderate, it could be a lot worse and want to limit your time outside but it's not a dire situation. that is downright dangerous breathing that stuff in when it's purple. here at home we are going to pull in more of that smoke tomorrow but if you look at lower levels a strong onshore flow is going to keep the air quality moderate but it could be worse. by monday it shut get better. we will go into the cooldown in the complete forecast in just a few minutes. brian back to you. >> ahead of the september 11th
