all right, let's get you ready for the second half of your weekend. most of us get a cooldown tomorrow, some of us by like 7 or 8 degrees. others maybe by one degree. you won't notice much if you're in the city on the peninsula near the coast. you don't notice a difference tomorrow. if you're inland, you will show you why. first, here's why. look at the marine layer. look what it's trying to do. right now. we've got just this little ribbon, that classic little ribbon that tries to sneak in through the golden gate. you see it there on the last image. you get just that little wisp. we show it to you another way. that's what it looks like on satellite right now. that is what it looks like by eyewitness account from the camera on top of the mark hopkins hotel. that's that little wisp. so we're on ... hill looking north. that's alcatraz out there. you kind of see a little bit of the island, and that's that little ribbon of clouds that's trying to stream onshore. let's go back to the map. i want to show you how this is going to get more impressive tonight. we didn't have a whole lot of marine layer today. unless you're at the beach or at the golden gate tomorrow you will watch. here's the high resolution forecast that takes the clouds forward. and we're going to let this play until about 6 a.m.. and tomorrow it will fill in most of the immediate bay. this is
5:13 pm
sunday. this is when the marine layer starts coming back. and then what's going to happen after this for monday and tuesday is this marine layer is going to be able to lift a little bit. in other words, the pressure over it is going to weaken and the clouds will be able to lift or deepen. and when they deepen, that means they're going to be able to get over the east bay hills. as far as tomorrow goes, they can't really do it. you don't really see a whole lot in the tri-valley there. and that is the tri-valley out there. you should wake up to relatively clear skies to start sunday, but by monday and tuesday those clouds are going to get an assist as they get lifted higher and they will go farther inland. let me show you what's coming our way. a little explanation on how that's going to happen. we'll take a look at the forecast in terms of what the satellite has to say about today, and then what some of the better visualizations have to say about why the marine layer is going to get more impressive this week. you don't see anything when you look at regular satellite. you barely see anything sitting off the coast. when we switch our view, you still don't really see much. even on water vapor, you don't see a whole lot. but
5:14 pm
there is something here. look at this little counterclockwise spin down here. it barely shows up, and it really only kind of shows up through the dry slot. and really only if you use your imagination. we showed you another way. here's the forecast imagery. what we're looking at here. this is satellite showing you what the atmosphere is doing now for like the last 12 hours. this is the forecast imagery which sees that little counterclockwise source of energy and over the next two days builds it into that. now that you're barely going to notice that in terms of like, oh, it looks like there's a spinning vortex of energy, not the case, but what it is is a way to see where the low pressure is. and that's going to build in right over us going into sunday and monday, and watch it spin right overhead. that's how we're going to go back into more progressive june gloom that's spinning low, is going to lift the marine layer and throw it farther onshore. and that's basically the way the next couple of days are going to go for us. so let's see what that looks like in terms of the way it's going to feel. we'll start out by looking at sunday on the map. and go ahead and pick out your part of the bay, a cooldown concord. it was 97 today out here as the marine

layer starts building back in, your numbers will come back down a little bit. it's not going to be cool, but you'll get you'll at least get pulled back away from the 100 degree mark. you'll feel a lot better there. look at the santa clara valley tomorrow. you can see all the grid down there. pick out your part of the santa clara valley. your numbers there are going to end up pretty much about 3 or 4 degrees cooler than you were today. and when and when we look at where we'll be for the seven day forecast, let's get into those details and i'll show you what that looks like for our inland microclimate. first, let's see those numbers. there's a slightly cooler scenario notably so by the end of the week. so sure we'll get more marine layer this week. and then we'll get even cooler air as we approach next weekend. those are daytime highs for inland microclimates only in the upper 70s on friday. and of course next weekend will even be still relatively cool with temperatures in the low 80s and in the seven day forecast for the bay. that's your story as well. more gray skies in the morning. afternoon sunshine.

six innings. but then in the sixth inning, runs into just one little trouble here. andrew benintendi doesn't let this fastball get by him. a deep shot to right field was just beyond the reach of mike yastrzemski. ray couldn't have pitched better. just one out away from a shutout start, and that one run ended up costing the giants a ball game because the giants offense didn't bring anything to the table. san francisco came up with just four hits as they get shut out. the white sox win one. nothing. justin verlander will look for his first win as a giant in the rubber match on sunday, while big match for the earthquakes tonight as they host rival la galaxy in the california clasico. the match will be played at stanford stadium at 730, with 40,000 tickets already sold. we'll have a recap of that coming up on the late show, and the valkyries got back to their winning ways at home last night with an 83 to 78 win over the chicago sky,
