3 (bill)>> this latest round of winter weather is causing for hazardous road conditions this morning. news 4's alex cannito is live from vassar street with a look at what you can expect before heading out the door for your morning commute. 3 (alex - live) 3 slippery roadsdrive slowbe safe 3 (alex - live) 3 3 there was a nearly 30 vehicle crash sunday afternoon... along interstate 80 near the california-nevada state line ... involving a few semi-trucks. the interstate was closed down for several hours.. in both westbound and eastbound directions while crews cleared the roads and waited for the snow to subside ... and during the evening ... nevada highway patrol troopers responded to multiple crashes throughout northern nevada. troopers want to remind everyone if you must drive

3 (bill)3 >> this winter storm not only caused crashes and closures... it also caused some flooding in higher elevations...you're looking at video from soda springs.... caltrans say the flooding was caused by an ice dam...clear out some of that ice and water... 3 (sam)>> two men missing on mount rose this weekend.. have been found safe...search and rescue crews escorted them down the mountain saturday... they reached davis creek park at about just before midnight saturday night...the men were snowboarding and skiing at mount rose ski tahoe... when they went off course...it took rescue crews more than five hours to find them... using the g-p- s on the men's cell phones.but both were in good condition. 3 (bill)>> on the crime watch this morning... south lake tahoe police are investigating a homicide that happened there this weekend..police say they

at about 7:45 saturday night... to find 40-year-old "dennis michael wright, junior" suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the chest.wright was taken to the hospital... where he later died.detectives say he and his female companion... 45-year- old "kendra ghiorso" ... drove to the motel to deliver 100 pounds of marijuana. 3 (bill)>> police say the homicide was a result of that drug deal.. but they are still looking for several suspects that may have been responsible for the shooting.anyone with information is asked to contact the south lake tahoe police department... 3 (samantha)>> secret witness is offering a reward... for anyone with information about a a tal hit and run crash that happened early saturday morning.police say it occurred just before 6:00 a- m... at fourth and spokane streets in reno.officers believe the man was *legally crossing fourth street... when a fast- driving vehicle hit him.they say that driver did not have their headlights on.the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. 3 (samantha)>> the man's

river corridor. news 4's jaime hayden talked to police down by the river ....and shares this report. 3 ((sot lt. shaw: "we just want people to be informed of the dangers, it is illegal to camp along the river, this is one of many reasons why."the truckee river in reno peaked nearly 8 feet saturday morning ... about 3 feet below flood stage ... according to the national weather service.so reno police were out along the truckee river corridor reminding the homeless population about the dangers of camping along the banks.sot lt. shaw: "when the river starts flowing pretty fast we don't want to see people in the river because the flow rate is very dangerous, to mention this water is very cold and it doesn't take very long for people to become hypothermic, the fire department runs an excellent river rescue team and we dont want to have to see them utilize that today so that is really the purpose of our outreach and education."the river peaked at nearly 3200 cubic feet per second saturday morning ... the strongest flow in more than three years.sot lt. shaw: "nevada is prone to flash floods and we don't want to see anyone injured."lt.

within 350 feet of the truckee river in the city of reno.and he says the goal of saturdays outreach ... to not only inform the homeless population about the increase of water levels ... but what options are available to them. sot lt. shaw: "the community assistance center downtown at 4th and record is an excellent one, they also run an overflow when they get full so there is a lot of resources, if we do get the snow thats expected its probably going to be a cold night, temperatures are going to drop, so we do encourage people to utitizle those resources and get of the street and definitely stay out of the are of the river." jaime tag: "and again the reno police department, wants to remind everyone, not just the homeless, who may be down by the river to be aware of high water flows and to be safe around the water. for now reporting in downtown reno, jaime hayden news 4)) 3 (bill and sam)>> we'll toss

report with the exception of the reno airport, most of these reports are as of -- p.m. yesterday. updated numbers could come out later today. this is as of 6:00 p.m. from different areas through the viewing area. we know 1 inches of snow, 9 inches at virginia. carson city 8 as well. golden valley at 7. ski reports will come out around 6:30, 7:00 this morning. we'll bring you those as we get those as wall. the high today, it's chilly one. not really looking for any new snow out there. just partly cloudy skies, highs in the 30s and 20s. northwest winds 10 to 15. gusts as high as 50 miles per hour. that could glow around the snow that's alreadyton ground. that will reduce visibility on your commute. heads up for that. just tough roads in general because of the ice and snow already on the roads. the storm system itself is gone. it's wrap up, moved down to the east. snow and run across southern nevada now.

out there going forward. be careful on the roads this morning. lot of snow and ice on the roads. not expecting new ice or snow. >> thank you, tim. this latest winter weather caught hazard conditions leading to school delays. other problems this morning, alex can,to is live with a look at what to expect before you had out today. hey, alex. >> reporter: good morning. talk about a cold morning, but also a very dangerous morning. . there's quite a bit of ice. ham solid sheet of ice on the roads this morning. the biggest advice we have for people today is take it slow and easy. i know we say it every times it snows, but it's really dangerous. we want everyone to be safe. quite a few car crashes because of the winter weather. want to avoid that today. take it slow, take it easy, and this safe. with all the snow we did see

search and rescue crews escorted them down the mountain. they reached david's creek park 1:45 saturday night. the men were snow boarding and skiing when they went off course. crews wanted 5 hours to find the men in tough weatherer conditions. using gps on cell phones, both men, once found, were said to be in good condition. a homicide investigation is underway in south lake tahoe. police say they responded to the beverly lodge 7:45 saturday night to find dennis michael wright, junior, suffering at least one gunshot wound to the chest. wright was taken to the hospital, where he later died. detectives say he and his companion, kendrick roso wrote to the motel. they say the hd was a as a result of that illicit drug deal. they are still looking for several suspects involved in the shooting. anyone with information is

hundreds of plumbers volunteered to replace a few sets sunday. three hundred plumers spread out around the city to start replacing a few sets and installing new water filters. residents have been depending on water bottles since the city switched the water. homeowners say they're very thankful for the repairs, and the plumbers say they're happy to help the place they call home. plumbers say the homes they worked on received state issued filters, but residents should still have their water regularly tested for lead. authorities in canada say an avalanche that killed five in british columbia was human caused. but the exact cause of friday's huge snowslide is still under investigation. rescuers said saturday 150 snowmobilers were in the area at the time. those cut up in the avalanche were said to be experienced, and most dug each other out. at least 50 people died when three explosions rocked a to burr, of damascus,
