hot, hot heat in the bay area. >> pretty hot. >> and it's getting hotter. tonight we will find out why today's heat seems out of the blue and we will look at the dangers. first tonight, people want to know what records we broke? >> we broke two records. one in mountain view and one in san francisco. it's going to be hotter than this tomorrow. temperatures in the 90s today. 78 in pacif cu. nearly in the triple digits in santa rosa.

and it's going get warmer as we head into tomorrow. tomorrow at a glance, dry out there now and no sea breeze winds. starting the day on the mild side with temperatures into the 60s. by noon many places running in the 90s. heat advisory in effect, we will talk about that in a bit. the high heat created fire danger in the bay area. it led to a 70-acre fire. the area near bay point is one lane open as the crews continue to mop up. kron 4's jonathan has more on the quick response. >> reporter: it's a phrase we haven't heard a lot, grass fire. the first hot day in weeks, that's exactly what happened.

firefighters were able to contain the blaze. they >> we have been mild up to now, if you look at the fire history in california, some of the most devastating fires happen in october. >> reporter: they wanted to make sure they fire didn't become a devastating one. helicopters and bulldozers staged the initial attack and more than 90 firefighters what the fire out. >> the brush and grass is dry this time a year. out here there is a lot of grass and rolling hills. >> reporter: these cell phone towers were threatened. the strong winds can push a fire like this directly towards neighborhoods. they fought fires in this same spot before.

better quality wine. if you want to check the temperature in your area, log on to www.kron.com. we have a video forecast as well as bay area temperatures there. the sheriffmous department ruled the death of a sky diver an accident. kron 4's jeff tells us what happened. >> reporter: started here. a man went sky diving sunday afternoon. the plane took off and when he jumped out that was the lat time he was seen alive. the sheriff's department sent deputies to investigate and they found the man's car and his belongings in it. cph sent a helicopter to find him. his body was found a half mile away. his shoot did not deploy.

the owner of bay area sky diving didn't want to go on camera. the owner knew the man for several years. it is unclear if the man was sky diving alone. the sky diving facility doesn't have anyone on the ground to make sure they make it down safely. they are not releasing the man's name. new at 11:00, a group plans to ignore a judge's ruling on stem cell research. the lindsay lohan case may take an odd turn and the giants take on another top national league team. these stories are still ahead on kron 4 news. but destroys fleas. so ask your veterinarian for advantage,

get kick. half a billion eggs distributed to 17 states, a thousand people sickened by salmonella. the fda said it is investigating 7 farms to find the cause. >> could have been environmental exposures, infections of the hens or feed or some combination. the important thing is we know that these eggs are the source of contaminated products. >> the iowa farms at the center of the recall, including wright county egg are under scrutny. >> these farms were not operating with the standards of practice that we consider responsible and it's very important that those practices

be cleaned up. >> they issued a statement sunday saying when issues have been raised about our farms we have addressed them. another farm, hillandale farms of iowa is also the source of 170 million recalled eggs. they say it is devastated by possibly making people sick and they never had a recall in its history. investigators are looking into links between these two companies. a heat advisory in effect for most of the bay area tomorrow. expecting triple digits in many locations. will you be in it? i will have an answer in 3 minutes.

he spent more time in his backyard than his house. now there is a task force that reviewed monitoring. there is also a new policy mandating agents speak with friends and neighbors, something that was never done in this case. new legislation also led to a change in the department of correction superviz model. the legislation allows low level offenders to be placed on unsuper vised parole. this allows agents to focus on high risk offenders. more agents are being hired, 440 by this time next year. agents and super visors are also getting more training.

was it hot out there today? temperatures continue to be on the warm side. many places in the 70s. 79 in san rafael. this is warm for this time of the night. and it will stay warm. heat advisory for most of the bay area. lower elevations of the bay area all included because tomorrow is going to be warmer than today. temperatures top 100 degrees in many locations. 80s at the coast and 90s around the bay shores. 7:00 in the morning all that yellow, temperatures in the 70s. keeping it mild over night and warming up quickly. noon, all this red, all temperatures in the 90s.

already climbing into the 90s by noon. 3:00, topping triple digits. scorcher out there tomorrow. 101 in santa rosa. 100 in napa. inland 100. 106 in antioch. long the coast, 78 in half moon bay. 88 in san francisco. this is the last day of the hot temperatures for the coast lines. we will get the sea breeze back tomorrow. inland spots cool thursday into friday and especially into the weekend. another drastic change to the cooler side with temperatures running 15 degrees below average. the east coast has been sizzling all summer long and now they are getting a break from the heat. as you can see, not the break most people welcome. look at all the flooding going

on. rain fall there left 5 feet of water in the streets of one town. as heather explains, in the south the mercury keeps climbing too. >> this shows where the temperatures reached the 90s today. the farther south you go, the hotter it got. red is 100 degrees. most of texas baked in 105 degrees. in the central part of the state, hotter. the national weather service issued extensive heat advisory for arizona, texas and baton rouge, louisiana. temperatures are expected to reach 115 degrees tomorrow. also making news a judge in washington blocked the expension of stem cell research. the ban is in place while a group argues against it in court. the group said the new guidelines violate a law that

bars the use of federal money to destroy. the california institute for medicine is a voter created group which distributes stem cell research money independent of the federal government. look at this video. a police camcaptures this car as it loses control. hits an overpass, shatters into three big pieces. the driver was plug outward. he is recovering and expected to be okay. the witnesses say he was passing cars above 100 miles per hour before he lost control. the attorneys in the lindsay lohan case are expected back in court on wednesday. a court spokesperson made the
