negotiations, which broke down on thursday. the new proposal by the unions comes after a fatal collision at the walnut creek bart station this weekend that killed two bart maintenance workers. >> with the bart workers still on strike-- commuters will be looking for other ways of getting around the bay. kron 4's will tran is at the bus depot in oakland with more. >> we saw just how busy it was. it is still early and the buses that we normally see start running around-- there are six of bus stops that will take you over the east bay. as you can see there is no wait at this time but you should get up and come down here as soon as possible. we saw on friday that people started gathering here about 5:15 a.m. and 5:30 a.m.. when the

a part of their overall plan. we're still looking at light conditions through the east. it has not even been any slowing from highway 4 or interstate 580. we are not seen any major delays. we're waking up to a temperatures been in the 40's and '50's. you can expect mostly sunny skies. >> livermore how high of 83 degrees. low 70's down the east bay shoreline. upper 70's for vallejo. similar weather for the next several days. the temperatures will be around seasonal. >> we will take a quick break. we will be back with more on the news.

a.m.--they are free but you need to get a ticket. this is the only way you are able to get back to the east bay letter on. you can see the line is already long and we have not yet seen any of the bart managers outside. they will be able to give us an idea of how many buses they have run in today. we may see evening big airlines today. >> we are learning tonight that n- t- s- b has made some evaluations regarding the fatal bart crash. we're told groups of investigators will be assigned to review the incident and that the investigation can last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. kron 4's alecia reid has more on the investigation of the crash.
>> n-t-s-b will designate investigative teams of experts to certain areas. gathering facts of the accident can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. jim southworth ntsb investigator sot - we do a thorough inspection of the equipment, a thorough mechanical inspection and every operation on the train itself. inside and out, wheels, breaks, the 3rd rail. >> the 4-car train was moved earlier this evening - mechanical inspections are being done on the equipment. n-t-s-b investigators tell us it had to be moved so they could get a closer look. >> sot - we'll make the measurements and open every door, we'll look at every single part of what went on out here then make a report with recommendations. >> line the facts will be analyzed, then a report will be created with the probable cause recommendations as to how to prevent future accidents like this from reoccurring will be listed.

firefighters were called out to a house fire overnight in the south bay this morning. the fire was reported around 3:30 a.m. this morning on the 700 block of south third street in san jose. a second alarm was called shortly after crews arrived at the scene. no one was at home at the time of the fire and no one was injured. >> the port of oakland truckers' association plans to stop working this morning to push for better working conditions and pavement. there currently asking for a $50 monthly greenie missions see to offset the cost of upgrading trucks. truckers have not seen any increase in the payment per carbo load in 10 years, while fuel and maintenance costs have increased. >> a three-point bolt magnitude earthquake struck an area near black caucus

second one as 6:30 a.m.. after that it will be every 45 minutes until 11:00 a.m.. they will then start back in the afternoon. one thing that you should know is that there is not a lot of parking so if you come here you should probably get here early or have someone drop you off. you should expect long lines. they expect to see much of the same today. the good news is that they run every 45 minutes and the lines move relatively quick. sometimes they have to at a time that pull up. it is still a headed for a lot of people. we will be a monitoring the situation and we will be out here watching this for you. >> maybe there is a chance that people on friday that endorsed the commute decided to call in today. those who have to work, we will expect

fourth day of the bart strike. people were taking ac transit this morning but typically that would go to bart's. so, they hopped on a.c. transit on friday and this is what one of jim and had to separate >> friday was a kind of like a bomber. the bus was really crowded. it was a little hectic. >> you will want to get here a little early almost an hour and half. >> keep in mind that not only are you getting here early but people have also told us that they are actually having to start their day earlier by getting up just so they can get to ac transit and to their location. i spoke to a bus
driver at about 4:30 a.m.. he stated that it was just terrible for him as well as the other bus drivers. he stated that he wanted to pick up as many people as he could but unfortunately when he arrived at the bus stop he just had to keep going because his bus was full. i did not see this until about 8:30 a.m. back in july. i saw the first bus here on friday at 5:30 a.m.. >> we may be and for worst commute if this continues. >> continuing our team coverage this morning, the san francisco bay ferry is a another way for you to get around the bay area today. kron4 jackie sissel is live
at the ferry building in jack london square. >> the first boat is now scheduled to leave on to 5:30 a.m.. you can't expect this to look much like it did on friday. thousands of people turned out to the ferry on friday as an alternative. this is almost about the same as what they did back in july. a normal day the ferry will carry about 6000 people but they expect to see it at about 18,000 to about 20,000. how are they doing this, they are using every bolt that they have available. that will bring these over to accommodate. they have a 6:30 p.m. boat and then after that is every 45
minutes. you should expect to wait in line between these times but also how they come reluctantly quit. in fact, you have to at a time. there is not a lot of partying here. and a parking that they did have filled up real quick. we will be monitoring this situation and this is one of the most popular alternatives. we expect to see long delays. >> the ntsb has already it launched their own investigation into this weekend's the fatal bart crash. the investigation is expected to last up to 10 days. the two men killed on the tracks were bart employees and it was a contractor who was inspecting the tracks of the
pittsburg-based point line. they were struck by an out of service train that was being moved to concord. the train was not equipped with a ford face in camera, but there was a video camera inside the cab. the u ntsb is looking into the equipment and human performance, and also to find out if the strike played a role in the accident. >> investigators say that depending on the complexity of the accident, it may take six months to a year to finalize the report. coming up in just a few minutes, we will have more on the visual for the two who were killed. coming up at 5:30 a.m., we will hear audio from bart workers when the accident

is starting to back up. also i want to show you the ride on the pittsburg. it is also starting to slow. the south bay freeway is not affected and there are no problems for the 11280 right. the ride through marin is still easy for 11 with no delays. >> taking a look at other ways to get around during the bart strike. bart is running free, limited first- come first-served charter bus from bart stations. ac transit will increase bus service as needed. if you are driving, carpool lanes will be extended on interstates 80, 880, and 680. if plus all bay area toll bridges will run from 5:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.. casual car pools will offer

top story that we are following this morning is the bart strike. the san francisco bay ferry is a another way for you to get a round the bay area today. kron4 jackie sissel is live at the ferry building in jack london square with more. >> here is a video from about 5 minutes ago. you then see how long the lines are. hundreds of people are getting up early tried to get a head start. you see this line that stretched out. the first ferry went off early this morning and this has been a great alternative during the bart's strike. and during the first one back in july people tripled the numbers and expect to see this over the next couple days. in fact, they have a ramp up their service. they have all
available boats. they want to accommodate the extra number of people. i had a chance to talk to one of the people in charge of the ferry and he talked about the number said they expect. i spoke to one of the writers also. >> based on what happens in the july we normally carry about 6000 passengers. this has gave us more and now we can carry about 28,000. >> i it really just wanted to get out of the city. i am not frustrated i'm as ready to get to work, it is monday morning. >> the first perry is
supposed to take off at 530 but i can see it is still sitting there. the next ferry it will be at 6:30 a.m.. after that, it will be every 45 minutes until about 11:00 a.m.. that was start back over at 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon. the ferry is just now starting to pull off. you are too late for the 5:30 a.m. one. at about 6:30 a.m. we expect to see about the same. you have to bring your patience. this is a good alternative. >> our team coverage continues out of the east bay where more buses are running from the east bay to san francisco this morning. kron4 will tran is live from the bus depot at twentieth street and broadway in
oakland. >> i can tell you that the lines are getting longer and we have been here since 4:00 a.m.. it started off kind of slow but here is the line coming from oakland. a lot of people are starting to get here. a lot of people stated that they took friday off because they either took the day off or call bed sick. this being monday, there were not allowed to do that so now they are stuck in this line. many passengers when they arrived on friday they noticed that day were not going to do this again and they want to get here earlier period. ac trat is on entering this situation and that brought an extra buses. in fact, there was one was the was parked at about 7:00 a.m..

notice that the bay bridge is also starting to back up. >> they have activated the meeting and lights. all of the lanes are backing up. although there is more movement because we have a lot of people who do not use fasttrack. here is where you really see a big change. highway 24, this is a solid backup all the way to 580. the east shore freeway is backed up and then nimitz and is backing up in the northbound direction. anyone thinking that they will get an early jump on the bay bridge, forget about it. we're already looking at about 25 minutes coming from the macarthur mayes the damage has already been done. >> let's look at the san mateo bridge. even with that
accident the traffic has been moving well. the approach to the bridge is slowing otherwise the conditions are not bad. the golden gate bridge is unaffected with light traffic 41 01 southbound. looking at the rest of the bay, interstate 680 south bond is not get backed up and highway 4 has eased a bit. interstate 580 is very heavy for the trip coming from alta mount pass. it is extra slow through tracy. it is very heavy into livermore. we are seeing traffic over the dublin in to castro valley. the 580 corridor would otherwise be served by bart. >> the south bay commute has no delays. the north bay ride to the golden gate bridge is problem free form
