steal valuables. kron 4's alecia reid shows us. 2 culprits who were caught on surveillance cameras. trying to get into a sunnyvale home this afternoon. it's a quiet tree lined streetmost homeowners work during the day. the owner of this house on the 1700 block of kara-meos drive happened to be monitoring his home surveillance, and saw these two men trying to pry their way in through a window. he called police, but by the time officers arrived the men had disappeared. we spoke to the man's wife who got home soon after. she tells us she's grateful the suspects didn't get inside.

during the hot weather, people want to open windows and doors to let air in, but police warn --- burglars look for any opportunity to get inside your home. we spoke to a neighbor that wasn't as lucky. while out of town they left a window slightly opened.

sot - they took 2 big 50" flat screen tvs. older models that were heavy. it mustve taken a few guys to carry them from upstairs down to some truck or van or whatever. it's hard to say if they knew we were out of town because we didn't broadcast our plans but they were brazen enough. they took their time in the house. they weren't worried about anybody coming back. these men walked away with nothing. both suspects are described as hispanic men in their 20's. police are urging residents to lock and secure

their homes when not inside. standup the homeowner tells me this is a safe neighborhood, but anything can happen. that's part of the reason they had surveillance cameras installed when they moved in. reporting from sunnyvale. dangerously hot and dry conditions around california. are helping fuel a wildfire burning in san diego. tonight. officials have called off more than 20 -thousand evacuation orders. saying, the threat of the spreading fire eased as winds died down tonight. but earlier today. at least 800 acres burned. right next to multi- million dollar houses. the fire burned in the northern portion of san diego county. near the fairbanks ranch area. one mobile home has burned. there are no other reports of damage or injuries. and though winds have died down. they are expected to pick up again overnight. as are the temperatures tomorrow. which are expected to be in the 90-s. in the east bay. firefighters got a quick handle on a brush fire that broke out just south of pittsburg this evening.

it was reported near kirker pass road. shortly after 5:30 california highway patrol officials say, it all started after the driver of an s-u-v lost control and smashed into a power pole. the pole crashed to ground. .and the sparking caused the fire to start. no one was hurt in the fire. but officials say, it is concerning to see a fire like this one. so early in the fire season. you can check kron4-dot-com. for a list of cooling centers open around the bay area we also have tips on how you and your family can stay safe during the heat wave. again that's all on kron4-dot- com.

staff at u-c berkeley. trying to help a 7-year-old bay area boy. find a bone marrow match. baylor fredrickson from albany. is diagnosed with leukemia. and needs to find a bone marrow match. in order to stay alive. he is mixed japanese and german. which makes finding a match more challenging. the bone marrow drive for him will be held on the berkeley campus at the campus shared services office. from noon to 2 p-m tomorrow afternoon. after being closed to the public for almost 8- months, san francisco's iconic coit tower will re-open tomorrow. the city will celebrate with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 a- m.

two teenagers from sebastopol may face felony charges. for throwing full water bottles at moving cars. the c-h-p says, it investigated 8-attacks in west sonoma county.they happened back in

february. white toyota tacoma. threw bottles at their vehicles. the bottles broke two windshields. the c-h-p says, the teens face charges including "felony assault with a deadly weapon." the investigation was passed on to the d-a's office, which will decide whether to file charges. today, city crews started the groundwork needed to install a new traffic signal. at a deadly san francisco intersection. there have been three vehicle - pedestrian accidents at sunset
