golden gate bridge, you'll have an easy ride, and also have the buffer lane running down the middle, as they will not set up the bridge for a typical morning commute, as this is a holele day. james, good morning. >> good morning. protests seem to have calmed down in ferguson, missouri. tensions are still high between officials and protesters, however. take a look. >> reporter: even with protesters at times shouting onsen advertise at police and national guard troops holding a line in ferguson, missouri, it's calmer here than it has been in the last several days, tense, but calmer, after an announcement that a grand jury found no probable cause to indict a police on criminal charges in the shooting of an unarmed teenager. business own verse also asked why the national guard and some 500 police officers weren't able to protect their stores. >> officers were overwhelmed by

the passion of the people who were out in ferguson, but, also, the tremendous amount of gunfire that at many times forced them to retreat. >> reporter: earlier wednesday, police arrest lead to people after a group of gallon straighters stormed st. louis city hall shouting shame, shame. protests have also spread overseas. a group of people in london, england, joined in familiar demonstrations, raising their hands in the air. the majority protests wednesday seemed peaceful, people marching, chanting, and calling for justice. i'm andrew spencer reporting. the unrest continues in oakland following the grand jury's decision. we have video to share with you from our helicopter. protests are were ignited

across the country. people started gathers here at 7:00 last night. demonstrations were peaceful for about two hours, but then some protesters broke off through the crowd and started run it will through the streets, clashing with police. protesters were seen starting small fires on the streets. >> was one the middle of the street. another was started inside a dumpster that protesters then rolled along with them as they marched. people were also seen vandalizing businesses again. the oakland tribune building was vandalized, as protesters smashed windows as they passed by that building. there was a much more visible police presence on the streets last night, as officers tried to keep crowds under control. observe land police again called in additional help from other law enforcement agencies. law enforcement agencies focused on keeping protesters off the freeways.

we have video from tuesday night. at one point, you may recall, protesters shut down both direction of 580. >> as soon as the pedestrian gets on to the freeway, we have the obvious risk of them being struck bay vehicle. >> reporter: any way to prevent people from getting on the freeway in the first place, especially when you know that you're going to have these protests? any way to stop it from happening to begin with if? >> that's a difficult question to answer. with enough people, anything is possible. if you can line officers up and down every freeway, then you know that no one is going to get on it. with the resources we have, we have to make sure we can be as efficient as possible. >> officers have said they'll arrest anyone who jumps on to the freeway. still ahead on the kron 4 morning news, these people aren't looking for a turkey

perfect weather if you're heading to grandma's house. take a look at what happens by 3:00 in the afternoon. for those in the south pay, livermore at 71, upper 60s today in oakland, 67 in san rafael. high pressure is still in control over the area. that means we're not seeing any wet weather, that's sticking well to the north. this ridge will start to push east, and that will allow rain to drop into our area.

there, but nothing to consider yourself with. perfect weather for the thanksgiving holiday. we'll see similar conditions into tomorrow, but wet weather arrives as we head into the weekend. here is george. >> we are here to be tracking any traffic issues that might pop up on this holiday thursday, and fortunately things are clearing out. the bridges look great, and so do the freeways. no backups or are delays here, and none for the san mateo bridge either. it's a pretty good commute. i should even use the word commute. it's a pretty good drive in both directions here with light traffic eastbound and westbound with no problems at 101 or 880. you'll still find a very good ride here. currently no traffic getting through in the southbound direction, just because it's so light.

here hours ago chopping up turkeys and vegetables to get ready for that dinner. they say they have over 200 turkeys, and over 150 hams that they'll be serving over 5,000 people they expect for the dinner tonight. now, this is a tradition that's been going on for over 40 years. the pass for of the church -- pastor of the church said it's a program that he will take forever. he wants to feed the people who can't feed themselves on thanksgiving. today's din her start at 10:00. it's actually more of a lunch. 10:00 this morning, and go until 1:30 this afternoon, and then later they say they'll have some sandwiches. they say they're going to have over 500 volunteers that will show up throughout the day. they're always looking for volunteers and donations. they say that as soon as thanksgiving dinner is put away, they start thinking about christmas. so if you're somebody who didn't get a chance to volunteer today, and you really want to help out a great cause,

they say there is all kind offerings things that you can do to help out for christmas that's coming up obviously around the corner. but for today, it's thanksgiving dinner for all of these people helping out. it's a great day for them and the people who really need it, james. we come out here every year and it never gets old. >> jackie, thank you, and we'll be visiting with jackie a little bit later on, as well. well, several other community organizations in san francisco are opening their doors to people looking for warm meal today. we have st. anthony's who will be serving a turkey dinner with all of the trimmings. it's happening at 10:00 in the morning in the new st. anthony's dining room. about 4,000 people expected to show up there. salvation army also doing its meals on wheels, volunteers will be delivering thanksgiving meals to people across the city throughout the day. and tens of thousands of runners are set to jump start their thanksgiving by going for a run first in turkey trots all over the bay area.

more than 200 cars were seen in a massive side show at 7th and maritime. initially, the chp didn't get involved, but officers are made their presence known, cars began dis%sing, and the chp officers were able to block several cars, and then shots

were fired within that group of trapped cars, and there were report that is at pedestrian may have been injured. look at all of the cars there. a van tried to escape at one point, crashing through a fence, but it got stuck on some nearby tracks, but then someone set their car on fire. firefighters couldn't get to that burning car because there were so many other cars in the way, so that happened on the streets of oakland last night. a bunch of bikers in l.a. go wild police give chase. >> reporter: crazy. s a is a nine. pack of motorcyclists taunting a police car giving chase. doing stunts, but not just doing wheelies, but doing wheelies right next to the police car. this brazen six-minute video

was posted on youtube that shows bikers in los angeles driving on the wrong side of the road, running red lights before a police car tries to cut them off. now it's hard to tell who is chasing whom. more than often than not, it's the police car that seems surrounded. there's even a police chop arer with a spotlight giving -- chopper are with a spotlight giving chase from above, which is why the bikers take cover over an overpass, and then the chopper and it's spotlight are still there, and the only accident seen on video, on of the motorcyclists wipes out. we have no idea if he was seriously hurt. at one point, one biker says to another -- [ indiscernible ]. jackets handed over to somehow make identification harder.

eventually they turned down a pedestrian workway, to come out driving without lights, turned down an alley, park in the dark in my opinion guy who posted the video said a few of the riders were caught and arrested, but most escaped. we tried to confirm that with the los angeles police, but l.a.p.d. told this were too tired up with the ferguson protests to deal with questions about this, motorcyclists gone wild, and they seem power else to do anything but let these bikers -- powerless to do anything but let these bikers fly. lots of sunshine, temperatures in the upper 60 ovechkin some low 70s for your forecast. i'll have your full forecast coming up.

pressure that is keeping us dry is going to push east and south, that opening the storm door, and we're talking about several days with consistent rain. so we're talking about a couple of soakers heading into our direction. the rain will spread southward by daybreak saturday and continue on into next week. when this is all said and done, we could see over 5 inches of rain for higher elevations in the north bay. the santa cruz mountains will get the brunt of it, coming in at 8 inches of rainfall. so you will need your umbrellas. rainy weather on tap, windy conditions. wind gusts up to 35 miles per hour saturday night into sunday. looks like we could see some localized flooding in urban areas where drainage is a problem. chance for showers will diminish as we head into about mid-day wednesday, but again, we are talk about the most rain we've seen for consecutive days for the entire calendar year, so certainly keep that in mind,

let's get to the weather forecast and find out what we can expect here as we work through the holiday. >> we is have high clouds, sunshine out there. temperatures still in the 30s, 40s, and 50s. san francisco right now 51 degrees. so we do have some high clouds, but that will clear up as we head into the afternoon. we'll see upper 60s, low 70s, a light breeze in the forecast. warmer weather today, but wet weather is book in the forecast. i'll have the details coming up in 15 minutes. >> the unrest continues in ferguson, missouri. here is yesterdayio from our helicopter partnership. the grand jury decision on monday sparked outrage in communities acrews the country, igniting protests in more than

170 cities. chances were peaceful for about two hours, but then some protesters broke off from the crowd and started clashing with police. some were seen starting small fires on the street. here is an example of one right in the middle of the street. another was started in a dumpster that protesters then began rolling along with them as they marched. the oakland tribune building was also vandalized as windows were smashed as they went by that building. oakland police called on additional help from other law enforcement agencies. these protests, as they continue to go on, law enforcement agencies are focused on keeping protesters off the freeways. tuesday united knight we had

portions of entire state 580 in possession directions shut down because of protesters in this freedway. a task force has now been formed to alleviate that problem moving forward. >> we now have the obvious risk of them being stuck by a vehicle. >> reporter: any way to prevent people from getting on the freeway in the first place? especially when you know that you're going to have these protests, and you know that them getting on the freeway is a possibility, is there any way to stop it from even happening to begin with? >> that's a difficult question to answer. with enough people anything is possible, if you can line officers up and down every agree-freeway. obviously we have to make sure with the presources we have that we can be as efficient as possible. >> officers will arrest anyone who jumps on the freeway. we'll continue to follow the latest with this developing story as we move forward into the holiday weekend. investigators are investigating a deadly shooting in watsonville. police say a teenage boy was

shot multiple times near ross avenue. they heard gunshots, wentoused, and found the boy trying to stop cars and getting help. that buy was flown to a bay area hospital but died on the way. name and age have not been released. police are looking for a black older two-door honda civic. they say the passenger was a heavy set dark skinned mail. police believe the shooting was gang motivated. investigators trying to figure out if this shooting is related to any other noninjury shootings reported about an hour earlier. well, as we work our way through this thanksgiving, want to again go out to glad memorial church in san francisco, where they are working hard to feed those that go hungry on this day, as they do every year. good morning, jackie. >> reporter: good morning, james. yeah, dozens of volunteers already out here two hours before dinner is expected to be

served, and they are working hard to get that thanksgiving dinner on the table for thousands of people who need it. here is some video from earlier this morning. they expect to feed 5,000 people through the dinner today, over 500 volunteers are giving their time. they're going to be serving turkey and ham and all of the trimmings on this. they say they have over 200 turks, and over 150 hams to do it. and this is a work of love for a lot of these people. they have been doing it here at this church for almost 40 years. the reverend here just showed up. he said it's a labor of love, and they always need help. we'll be talking to him coming up. as soon as they wrap up dinner tonight, the first thing they start doing thinking about christmas. they say they need volunteers, they need donations to help out. this is what -- how they feed the people in need here in the street offers san francisco. as i i said, the din her start

at 10:00 this morning. it's more kind of a brunch or a lunch kind of setup. and then it will go until 1:30 this afternoon. if you're somebody that needs some help, needs a dinner, that's the time to show up. i can tell you earlier i was around the corner, and the line was already starting to form. it is something that we do every year. it's something that they do every year, it's a labor of love, james, they've been doing it for over 40 years now, and they are starting to crank it up out here, starting to carve the hams, the turkeys, and serve about ready to go. >> thank you very much, jackie. let's hope they do a lot of good work today. happening right now, tens of thousands of runners are jump starting their thanksgiving by going for a run first in turkey trots all over the bay area. we have m.c. hammer helping kick off the annual race in walnut creek, that happening about five minutes ago. also turkey trots plans in san

jose, napa, san francisco. there's bound to be one near you. the list goes and on on. many of those races are today are raising money for bay area charities to help children and the hungry. and several other organizations are opening their doors to people looking for a warm meal today. st. anthony's serving a turkey dinner at 10:00 this morning at the new st. anthony's dining room at 121 golden gate avenue. about 4,000 people are expected to show up there. and the salvation army with it's meals on wheels program will be at work today, volunteers will be delivering meals to thousands across the city throughout the day. still ahead any the kron 4 morning news, it's being called the most expensive thanksgiving dinner ever. however will it cost you, and what is included with the meal, more importantly. plus we'll explain what these people are in line hoping to

thousands of travelers are still not home for the holidays, even though they left yesterday, they're stranded. drivers are trying to navigate roads in the storms. jennifer gray has more on the story. >> reporter: massive winter storm from coastal rain to inland snow battering much of the east coast and parts of the midwest on the busiest travel day of the year. frustrated travelers feeling the ripple effect of storm systems from montana to maine. >> i got on the road coming from vail, and a snowstorm and multiple accidents all over the place. >> nearly 5,000 flights delayed up to six hours on wednesday, and over 700 cancellations at some of the nation's busiest airports. >> we were notified that the flight was canceled, so we're sitting here in the airport,

waiting for the next flight out. >> reporter: many are waving rebooking fees for travelers, but stranded passengers finding it hard to rebook on a day when most flights are already full. >> it's tough to sit and wait and not know what's going to happen, but we're hopeful. >> reporter: for some of the 41 million people expected to drive this holiday, it's even worse. >> visibility is very bad. >> reporter: travel slowed from d.c. to new york, while inland, heavier snow causing tie-ups and accidents. >> this day of all days, it's pretty frustrating. i have a reunion of 30 family members i'm trying to get to tomorrow in pennsylvania, so nothing is going to stop me. >> reporter: at new york's penn state, they, too, faced delays. >> be patient and see if you can make it. >> reporter: this photo shows the scores of people braving the crowds to be with loved ones this thanksgiving. >> if you're traveling closer

to home, maybe just driving around town in the bay area, let's find out what kind of weather we can expect today. >> great driving weather for the entire state of california. we're high and dry right now, but if you getting an early start, it's a little cold out there. we're no longer contending with morning lows, so santa row is a now out of the upper 30s. 45 currently in livers will more. into the afternoon, we'll see plenty of 60s and 70s, so temperatures again on the warmer side, some locations as much as 8 degrees warmer than where we should be for this time of year. 71 in both sunny vale. 75 today in evergreen. upper 60s for walnut creek in castro valley. downtown san francisco in the mid-60s for today, and 65 in san h too rosa. so we are dry. we do have this ridge of high

pressure in place. you can see wet weather well to our north, burst we do have changes on the horizon. frankly, there's a lot of energy out the pacific, and and a lot of that rain is going to make a beeline to the santa cruz mountains as we head into the weekend. looks like black friday, 6:00 that evening, light rain arrives in santa rosa, and then this system will continue to spread southward overnight leave us light to moderate rain to wake up to saturday morning. we'll continue to see wealth weather into sunday, monday, person harps monday, and tuesday, as well. gusty winds saturday into sunday with wind speeds up to 35 miles her hour. we could see up to 5 inches of rain locally. flooding is a possibility, especially in urban areas without drainagage. the time right now is 7:17. here is a look at the roads with george. >> thanks, erica. it's good-looking ride around

the bay. not expecting any delays or problems. a quick look at the bridges tells the story. look how light we are here at the bay bridge with new delays for the westbound ride. all of the approaches look good. same is true for highway 92 and the san mateo bridge this morning, and tracking the ride to the golden gate, its problem-free here, as you would expect. not set up like a typical commute day. there is a buffer lane with two lanes in each direction, and a look at your ride to the rimmond bridge shows just how light the trip is, with no delays heading out from the richmond areas, so no problems over to the toll plaza on 580 westbound. james? >> george, thank you. today is expect supposed to be a day of thanks, but sometimes thanksgiving dinner are at the table can lead to bickering, so we is are some tips to help you avoid a squabble. millions of americans gathering at the table tonight, and

relatives will, a little alcohol going around, and me pressure putting on the perfect meal, of course tensions can build, but doesn't have to be that way. before you dive head first into the holiday, keep a few things in mind. first avoid controversial topics. yes, immigration reform and what's going on in ferguson, healthcare reform, all of that, are all important issue, but if you know people have different and often strong opinions about it tribe to focus on something less volatile. talk about football, maybe. next, let thing goes for the day, and do your best together more little comments, little things that can annoy you, just shrug it off, get through the day, and then focus on positive things, take initiative, and keep the conversation flowing in that vein. if you go in prepared ahead of time, you night have a better chance of having a happy thanksgiving. giving thanks with the traditional meal is costing a

little more this year. the american farm burrow federation said the price for putting thanksgiving dinner together on the table this year to feed 10 people will cost you about $49.41, and that's 37 cents higher than last year. experts say a rise in dairy prices is the many reason, but also an uptick in the cost of sweet potatoes, too. if you are upgrading your meal to something all organic, that price could actually jump up bit more than a hundred dollars. some of these are easy arer said than done, but keep that in mind, and let us know, too, chair your thanksgiving thoughts on facebook. and if you are not preparing the meal, and you're actually just driving to somebody else's house, actually and good news. aaa says gas prices are running about 33 cents less per gallon than a year ago, so you have a little bite of a saving there is. some might say that he had an unfair advantage, but the city coroner has won the baton rouge turkey carving contest.

your trip at the bay bridge toll plaza. no delays here for the trip heading in from the mcarthur maize from the east shore -- maze, from the east shoreway, and the ride from the nimitz looks well, as well. also, looking at 92 in the san mateo bridge with a good trip here for the ride eastbound restbound. no delays of either the 10192, and to and from marin county an easy trip. the volume is up, but no waiting northbound or south bound. a third night of protests in and around downtown oakland, all in response to the grand jury's decision in ferguson, missouri, earlier this week not to charge a white police officer for shooting and killing an unarmed black teen. you can see the pro testers

there. police say 33 protesters were arrested last night. they clashed with officers who called in additional help from other law enforcement agencies. and people were also seen vandalizing businesses once again. several protesters kicked in windows at a cvs store located at 20th and webster. so far loose have arrested 135 people now in connection with these protests. traffic should be back to normal this morning along i-5 in la hoya, after dozens of protesters blocked the freeway during rush hour yesterday. drivers are were irate and started clashing with protesters before the police arrived. >> reporter: this group of protesters weren't prepared for the wrath of drivers. furious. trying to get to work.

among them nurses and doctors on their way to the hospital during paid rush hour traffic. >> we have doctors and nurses who have to save lives here. okay? >> reporter: these students protesting the grand jury's decision not to prosecute officer darren wilson wanting to be heard. we had the only camera there, even before police arrived. it got ugly, even physical. chp officers came in force. >> i would like to give you this opportunity right now, before i get a couple of hundred officers up here to take your signs and please walk off the ramp.

>> right now we're the pain. we recognize injustice in this country that the people who are supposed to be protecting us, they don't care about us. >> hands up! did don't community hands up! don't shoot! >> police in south san francisco now know the identity of a man suspected of trying to lure a two-year-old girl at a cost co store this month, though i they are not releasing his name just yet. it was on november 8th when the man approached the girl, patted her on the head, and signaled her to come with him, but the man immediately walked out of the store when he noticed her mother nearby. police recently received an anonymous tip about the suspect. the case is now in the hand offers prosecutors for review. police are looking for two people who drove a car into a high-earned union square boutique early wednesday morning and got away with more than $300,000 worth of merchandise. the glass window of soonell was

shattered. police say the passenger got out of that car, walked into the store, and took six bags worth $45,000 each. the boutique's windows have been board up and will have to be replaced. police are having a hard time finalizing a description. the burglar apparently was wearing a knitted cap, a black face mask, black sweat pants and gloves. the vehicle involved in the break-in was described simply as white, and that was it. >> on to national headlines. cleveland police have released surveillance video showing officers shooting a 12-year-old boy holding what turned out tube toy gun. these are the moments leading up to the under. tamir rice is seen walkingouses of a recreation center. officers in a patrolle car responded to a 911 call about someone with a gun, they drove up to that boy. the caller pointed out twice that the gun was probably fake.

dozens of people detained after a side show was broken up this morning, this occurred just before midnight in oakland. more than 200 cars were

involved. initially the chp didn't get involved, but they did have officers there, and then at one point, they did make their presence known. cars dispersed, the chp was able to block about a hundred of those cars, a little more, in fact, and then shots were fired within that group of trapped cars, and there were reports that a pedestrian may have been injured. an fan at one point tried to sustain -- escape, jumping through a fend. so a lot going on with this one. firefighters couldn't get to that burning car because there were so many other cars jammed on the roads in their way. >> a man who was wanted in connection with at least 20 armed robberies in the bay area is behind bars this morning. the man was arrestth without end last night. police haven't released the man's name. they say they don't want to compromise the rest of the investigation, but he was wanted for robberies in san francisco and along the pen sue la. >> police say the five-year-old pacifica girl who was found

dead saturday and feared to have drowned in her bathtub appears to have drowned of natural causes. it occurred on saturday. investigators found that 5- year-old girl unresponsive and not breathe. is the girl was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. the san mateo coroner's office and the police department believe the girl died of natural causes, not of drowning. police have identified david ruenzel of oakland. he was a regular hiker at the huckleberry botanical preserve, and police think robbery was the motive in his shooting death. ruenzel was found tuesday afternoon with gunshot wounds. he died at the scene. police say they saw two men on that trail just before they heard gunshot. >> happy thanksgiving, everyone. live in the weather center, heading tout high clouds and sunshine. warm weather on the way, as we

but all in all looking at pretty mild conditions as we head into the afternoon. upper 60s and low 70s in today's forecast. we are going to maintain dry weather as into most of tomorrow but wet weather is back in the picture especially as we head into the weekend. full details on that coming up at 9:15 am. here is george. >> thank you erica -- we continue to monitor at a really light ride all the way -- around the bay area. exactly like you would expect that the holiday. at the bay bridge for example there is little if any traffic and no backups or delays for the westbound right. the trip across the span looks good in ease found out of the city likewise. highway 92 and the san mateo bridge is equally light in both directions. that is very much the case for the golden gate bridge. and highway 101. both northbound and southbound. the buffer lane there in the middle since they are only allowing for two lane southbound this morning instead of the usual four as it would be on a normal commute day. however there were problems early this morning. that are surely did for a short time tie up traffic.

in hayword. let's get more about that now. james? >> yes. thanksgiving in the bay area beginning with a deadly acts in on 880. as george started hayword happening in about 2:30 am on the a street ramp and one driver is pronounced dead at the scene the other rushed to the hospital and no update on that person's condition yet. police did shut down lanes of traffic for more than an hour. tragic note here to start off this thanksgiving morning. >> another big story of following this morning is the latest with the protest in the wake of the ferguson grand jury ruling. in today 3 now protesting it oakland. broke out again last night. the indicted officer in missouri -- not going to be facing any charges in the shooting death of michael brown and that has sparked protests around the country we learned that 33 protesters were arrested last night in oakland and you can see video there from the helicopter partnership with abc ben news and on the left side -- people writing in the oakland and the top right is protesters starting a small fire and the bottom right demonstrators and -- analyzing the tribune building and breaking windows as they passed by it. but the protest seemed to have

calmed in the missouri. demonstrations have not stopped and spread overseas -- overseas. tensions are still high between officials and protesters. >> reporter: even with protesters at times starting obscenities at police and national guard troops holding the line in ferguson it is colmer here than it has been in the last several days. tense but calm her. the aftermath after monday night's announcement that the grand jury found no probable cause to indict a police officer on criminal charges. in the shooting of an unarmed teenager. the damage done to ferguson during those protest -- business owners have also asked why the national guard and some 500 police officers were not able to protect their stores. >> the officers were old -- overwhelmed by the passion of the people who were out in ferguson. but also the tremendous amount of gunfire that at many times forced them to retreat. >> reporter: earlier today

police arrested three people after demonstrated stormed city hall. -- shouting shame. protests have also spread overseas. a group of people in london england joined in familiar demonstrations raising their hands in the air. the majority are protest on wednesday seemed peaceful. people marching. chanting. calling for justice. i'm andrew spencer. reporting. >> meanwhile back here in the bay area and happening right now in fact volunteers are busy getting thanksgiving dinner ready this morning at the memorial church in san francisco. jackie system standing by there. as we like to visit every year -- just to see all of these people coming together for such a great cause. >> absolutely and these volunteers are all working on -- or ours are carving turkeys and carving hams and it takes volunteers to do this program and there is one volunteer right there. that is the mayor of san francisco. he grabbed a knife and a turkey and started carving to help out.

the memorial traditional thanksgiving dinner. a video from earlier this morning. we talked about the volunteers. over 500 all in tears show up. to help them feed over 5000 people. they have been doing this for years and years. according to cecil williams of the reverend who is the spearhead of this church and this program. he has -- he said they have been doing this for over 30 years. served 5000 people and they have -- 500 -- that is a lot -- they have 200 turkeys and about 150 hams. the dinner will start it 10 am -- not more of a dinner but much more of a brunch and it will go till 1 pm. i did have a chance to talk to the reverend and as i said the founder of the memorial church in somebody that we have all seen for many years. here in san francisco. he has been feeding the homeless for many years. the question i have for him is -- although this program is terrific, the wishes that one day this program will not be

needed and he agreed. >> i wish we could alleviate having to work on thanksgiving day or christmas or whatever the case might be. to meet the needs of people. it hurts us. to have to do it. we just feel like at some time people are not finding ways to eliminate and it alleviate their suffering. i wish we could alleviate it. we will work on it. keep doing it. we are never going to give up. >> as i said volunteers showed up here at 6 am to do it and you can see they are still working hard out here. the dinner will start at 10 am and go until 1 pm today. as soon as they wrap this up -- as soon as the last turkey is carved in the last dinner is given out they will start thinking about christmas and at that point they say that is when they need more volunteers and more donations.

they could not help out this year and they do not need any more volunteers down here today. if you could not help out for thanksgiving they say to show up and help out for christmas because the need is great. james? very great. thank you. great to see the live pictures that several other community organizations opening up their doors for people needing a warm meal. saint anthony's will serve a turkey dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy and pumpkin pie. that is happening at 10 am so a little less than an hour from now at the new saint anthony's dining room at 121 golden gate avenue. we are told 4000 people are expected to show up for that. and the salvation army will be doing the meals on wheels program with the volunteers deliver and thanksgiving meals to people across the city throughout the day today. chewing and shopping. that is what is on the agenda for americans this things giving according to a new sentiment -- cnn poll. 86% to plan to eat turkey dinner which is down from the 91% back in 1992.

that 9:11 am this morning -- a new story. deadly shooting in watsonville. the teenage boy was killed around 620 last night and he was shot multiple times near ross avenue and airport boulevard --

firefighters her shots outside and they found a boy trying to stop cars and get help. firefighters began treating that boy and called police and the boy was flown to a hospital but died on the way. his name and age have not been released. police are looking for a black older two door honda civic and say the passenger was a heavyset dark skinned male and the shooting may have been gang motivated. investigators are trying to figure out if this shooting is related to another non-injury shooting reported about an hour earlier. if you have any information call the police. happy thanksgiving everyone. heading out into a mix of sun and clouds. warmer weather for the thanksgiving thursday. a look at that coming up. as we go to break the national turkey federation says 80% of americans gobble up turkey on things giving which means that 51 million turkeys will be served on tables this year and get this. california is one of the largest consumers of turkey in the us.

dozens of people detained after officers broke up a sideshow in oakland this morning. responding to the sideshow at seven than their time. it broke out after midnight it over there 200 cars were involved in the initially the chp did not get involved but officers at one point decided that it's time to break it up. when they made their appearance cars dispersed. the chp officers were able to block hundreds of them and then shots apparently were fired within that group of trapped cars. there were reports of a pedestrian possibly being it injured and avn try to escape crashing through a fence but getting stuck on the tracks. then it appeared someone set their car on fire. firefighters could not get to that burning car because there were so many other cars in their way. police in south services go now know the identity of a man suspected of trying to lure a two-year-old girl at a costco store earlier this month although they are not releasing his name just yet. here is a quick look at surveillance videos captured back on november 8. that is when this unidentified man approached the girl in an aisle at the costco on out camino

rel he patted her on the head and signal for her to come with him but the man apparently walked away immediately after the start -- when he noticed the mother was nearby. police received an anonymous tip about the suspect in the case is in the hands of prosecutors for review. we will let you know if they release the identity of that person. a dramatic robbery in san francisco square as how people drive is car through the chevelle store and still thousands of dollars of merchandise. the passenger got out of the car and walked into the store and took six bags each worth $45,000. the glass window there at the chanel store was shattered and hoping to be replaced and surveillance cameras captured the images and the police having a hard time coming up with an actual discussion. the burglar was wearing a knitted cap and black face mask and sweat pants and gloves. the vehicle involved in the breaking was described simply as white.

no other information available at this point. a man who was wanted in connection with at least 20 armed robberies in the bay area is behind bars this morning. investigators arrested him without incident just before nine o'clock last night near the intersection of gary street. police haven't released today because they don't want to compromise the investigation but he is apparently wanted for robberies in san francisco and along the peninsula. santa cruz police a mountain lion was seen early this morning in the middle of a populated area. they sent us this picture that was taken in a green space near the 1900 block of a pastry. fish and while i did say the big cat was seen heading north towards the ucsc campus. taking a break at 9:35 am. coming up on that kron 4 news is a winter storm on the east coast leaving thousands of homes and with businesses without power and as you can see travel in that part of the country. very slow and very dangerous this morning. we will also show you why not one of but two turkeys were saved from becoming thanksgiving dinner this year by presidential pardon. here is a live look outside the camera. sunshine coming down on highway 92 as traffic is nice and light.
