oakland as a high. 79 going on for san jose and your ready for school forecast, 72, and 71 covering the bay. we have changes happening not just on sunday, but early next week. we'll investigate that. changes are on the road. we're tracking a problem in oakland. let's look at the ride in san francisco. a backup on the bay bridge toll plaza, it's heavier, now, compared to the 6:00 hour. look at the drive times, 30 minutes from that point headed off to freemont street, nothing going on in the bridge or downtown. no major hot spots, i'm keeping my eye on this crash in oakland. this is southbound from the 23rd, it's on the 6:00 hour. it looks like chp is pushing it off to the shoulder. it's backing up in both

molestation in mountain view. >> they've arrested that man on suspicion of child molestation, they're worried that more victims can be out there. donald lawrence was arrested last month. lawrence was an apartment manager at the arbor's mountain view complex, he was arraigned on 6 charges involving a child ten years old or younger. he was at the courthouse in palo alto. we will keep track of the story and update you as it develops. >> major developments after the shooting in a san francisco high school. they're making two arrests that have left four students injured. it happened on tuesday afternoon at the jordan school for equity. they're looking for four people in connection with the shooting. they believe it was a 15-year- old girl who was targeted. three other students were hit by gunfire. a group of people gathered to stop the violence rally in the

wake of the shooting. >> there are people out there who care and that there is hope, and that there are people out here who want to prevent stop the violence. >> san francisco police were at the last night's rally but wouldn't a the information for the shooting. all of the students who are injured are recovering. >> 7:05 and what's happening four people are behind bars accused of assaulting a man in front of his home in san ramon. look how he was left with his face beaten. he told the police he went out to speak to four young men causing a disturbance, he was talking to one when one hit him in the head and the others started punching and kicking him and they found the man beaten on the ground. >> i went on and saw my son and

he was beat up and bloodied where you couldn't recognize him. he was choked up, choked and punched and kit. >> he suffered a broken nose, a bruised kidney and cuts and bruises, these four were arrested and they arrested two 17 year olds. was there's a fight to take over mozul, and he was killed by a suicide bomber. that was army sergeant rhiner from fairfield from illinois. he's the fourth us soldier killed since the us began military operations against isis in 2014. he what's 26 years old and had been in active duty since 2012.

an american civilian was killed by that suicide bomber, he's been identified as michael soro from oklahoma. 7:07 we're learning more about a bomb scare that shut down 480 in san francisco. this happened from a suspicious note on the car. they closed surface streets around 7th and harrison as well as shutting down highway 80 and 101 in that area. they reopened 220 in the afternoon that this was in bomb. the hall of justice near brian street had to be under lock down. court hearings had to be postponed until today. they got -- police got reports of a suspicious device. they found it on dubose avenue. they announced after

unsettled as we discussed, a couple of waves to look out for, thursday and friday, more importantly something else to watch out for too as a new batch comes our way. robin has traffic update. what's going on? >> keeping an eye on it, the traffic is growing, it's out to the foot of the maze now. it's rolling into san francisco but you have a chance to get in without any major problems. but, it's 22 minutes from the foot of the maze rolling off to freemont street. an accident on the nimitz, one northbound and southbound at the same exit 23rd avenue. chp on scene clearing both cracks crashes on the shoulder. we have a lot of stop and go traffic into downtown oakland. i'll zoom out and northbound it's backed up to 238 in san

leandro. look at 580 here, san leandro, it's nice and light. this is a great alternate routes for you both east and westbound. here at the bridge, lots of traffic rolling into the north bay, but no major hot spots. this is fairly normal for a friday morning. it's only 16 minutes from the tolls out to highway 101, let's check drive times. if you have to use 880, it's 17 minutes and 15 minutes from san leandro. do not take the nimitz freeway, use 580 instead. just a quick check of drive times out of the east bay, some spots are friday light like 680 from dublin to freemont, the nimitz heading south from the east bay to the south bay 31 minutes to get from 238 to 237. breaking news from overnight, there was a 6.2 earthquake hitting japan. we have more from the breaking

news desk. >> an earthquake struck at 2:00 in the afternoon their time. it was early in the morning for us. we have video from inside office buildings showing the shaking. workers are looking around and we can see the camera shaking because of this. most of the damage is considered minor, you can see the sidewalks are cracked and rooftops off of the buildings. there are 87,000 house that is lost power initially i, but most of the electricity has been restored. and here's the latest pictures showing the roof times that have slowed down and the debris in the streets. 7 people have been injured, one of them was seriously injured. japan's meteorological warning, there could be after shocks in the next four days, there was an after shock an hour after the main quake, but that's all they've tracked so far. 7:18, happening today santa clara county is holding a

health care for people uninsured. it's to help low income and homeless residence. let's look at the health fair last year where they gave you showers, haircuts, flu shots and it's all for free. last year they had 300 people. it's happening from 9 to 1 this afternoon at the st. joseph's cathedral on south market. a hunger strike, it's stretching to the fifth day. the inmates want the jail to end solitary confinement and more sets of clothing. they've misused the inmate welfare fund which is to go towards inmate programs. they'll stay on strike longer if their demands are not met. san francisco police held the first town hall meeting since they were shot and killed

last week. police address the community about what happened and updated us on the condition of the officer who was shot in the head by the suspect, the suspect is nicholas mcworther, one bullet hit police officer kevin downs in the head. other police officers responded and shot him as he was trying to get away and then he died of his injuries. >> it's been a long debate about the police department being the first point of contact and in these particular situations, it's an ongoing discussion, the mayor has allocated funds for hiring clinicians and we're looking at these situations. >> the bullet fractured the skull of the officer, but he is alive, and he is paralyzed in

his right leg, but he has survived the shooting. and mississippi they've had enough of the creepy clowns phase, they're banning anyone dressing up as clowns from doing that, there's a fine of $250, people could react badly if they're scared by clowns. it's happening along the alabama state line. they say it violates state amendment protections, the ban will be lifted after halloween. instagram are launching suicide prevention tools. they'll allow people to flag posts about suicide or self harm. instagram will notify the person who posted the image that someone thinks that they might be going through a difficult time and they'll be offering help. instagram will encourage that person to talk with a friend and contact a help line and

stretch is out to the foot of the maze and now it's slow in pockets headed over to freemont street. let's get it to the foot of the maze and off to the westbound sky way, we have two crashes on the nimitz one northbound and southbound, both are on the way. if you have to come to downtown oakland, it's slow from 9:80, if you have to back up from san leandro. switching over to the bridge, we're westbound 92, it's creeping along from the nimitz to the high wise, 23 minutes from hayward to san mateo. checking on the east shore freeway, hercules to oakland, 33 minutes to make that trip. we had several minor problems like stay with us and fender benders, it's gone, it's 34 minute drive from antioch into

concord. at the bay bridge, we'll notice more reps from treasure island -- >> we have details from treasure island. >> reporter: good morning, drivers who are traveling westbound on to treasure island will need to adjust because of those new ramps. i'll show you video of the construction project that was just completed to add these new ramps. right now westbound drivers are getting off the bridge from the treasure island exit west on the eastern span. they'll exit on the new off- ramp. there are signs on the bridge to remind drivers of the change. you should be aware if you're going to be using those exits. the new ramp will be safer and offer easier access to those looking to exit there. now the construction of the 98 million project started back in 2014 and is opening on schedule later this morning, there is expected to be a ribbon cutting

with for the off and on ramps opening up tomorrow morning. but, it's important to note that those on and off ramps will not be open until early tomorrow morning, that's when you have to start exiting right rather than left. i'll have more updates. back to you in the studio. the oakland police officer arrested for hiring a prostitute and tipping her off about sting operations is following that from court in the breaking news desk. this circles around 26-year- old officer ryan walterhouse. he joined the oakland police department in 2014 and was working as a police officer. he committed criminal acts both on and off duty. they arrested him wednesday night and charged him with felony counts of misdemeanors and prostitution charges. he'll be facing a judge later on this afternoon in court.

abuslin and several officers have been charged in the case. time now 7:33 let's go to the east bay where danville police will use new technology to try to crackdown on crime. they'll install license plate reading cameras at 12 busy intersections and the money has been approved. they're hoping that technology will help them find people in recent crimes including a home invasion where two people got away. the thieves may have been caught if they had the license plate readers in already. >> we have stein an increase in property crimes in a two-year period. it was a 10% increase year after year, and we wanted to come up with a creative way of the uptick recently. >> we wanted them installed by the end of the year. >> three men broke into a home and robbed a person in hillsboro. it happened wednesday night. and they went through a home

through an open garage door. one held the owner at gun point while the others stole items from the home. they have several leads and are asking people to come forward if they have surveillance video. >> and they're looking for this person of interest in two separate cases last month. a man was acting suspiciously at white oak elementary school and central middle school both of them in san carlos. in one incident he asked a 14- year-old boy if he was lost and he needed a ride. they wouldn't stop asking until the boy called 911. he was seen driving a newer silver model sedan. one school district might change the time of school starting so they give more time for kids to school. >> there's a suggestion that kids should start later in the morning. they have to get to class before 7:30 in the morning, the school principal convinced the

district to let high schoolers arrive later. >> kids are helping the family and parents out, getting siblings up in the morning, getting them ready, they're getting 4 or 5 hours of sleep. it's having a huge effect on kids? >> til give me a little more rest and plus staying up late for home work, it's kind of hard. >> the school district is -- district is considering to have it start at 8:30 instead of 7:30. a chicken and egg question, are they forcing coaches going from high school to college back to school. the world according to gary in a few minutes. the debate who is worse when it comes to road rage, men or women drivers. these findings might surprise you after the break.
