( averi ) santa clara county supervisor dave cortese and other community leaders.. all gathered yesterday to show support for the lawsuit. it argues the constitution does not give the president the power to use state and local governments as tools to implement its policies. if federal funds are withheld, among the hardest hit services would be those provided by valley medical center, which recieves 70 percent of it's funding from the government. the cuts would hit social services, mental health providers and schools. other bay area cities have also filed lawsuits.

joseph jakubowski. the f-b-i, a-t-f, the secret service and law enforcement nationwide had been searching for jakubowski for the past ten days. he is suspected of breaking into a gun store and stealing several weapons. police say they found his car near the store shortly after the robbery. he is also accused of writing a 161- page manifesto to president trump with plans to attack. ( james ) breaking news from overnight... the bellagio hotel and casino in las vegas bursts into flames. this is new video from the scene overnight. the fire broke out just before 11:00 last night. a large portion of the las vegas strip was closed down. you can huge flames shooting from the building. the fire is out now. there are no reports of any injuries. crews are still trying to figure out how the fire started. around 11-50 last night outside a home on aegean way. police found one woman, one man and one child with gun- shot wounds. all three were taken to the hospital, but are expected to be okay. these are pictures from the scene tweeted out by vacacille police. police have not yet released any information on the shooter. ( mark ) police make an arrest connected to a freeway shooting in the south bay. 33-year-old jose luis blanco was arrested at his home in san jose. he's accused of opening fire on northbound highway 101 near story road last month. a 17-year-old boy, sitting in the front passenger seat of a car, was shot in the face and back. the shooting was investigated as gang- related. police also found two firearms and meth- ampetamine inside the blanco's home. < i hate to think that he was thrown away in a trash can or something (tearful sigh).">( james ) happening now - a grieving family desperate to get back the ashes of their loved one -- stolen from their rental car in san francisco.( mark ) their loved one

( james ) this morning we are learning more about a fire near interstate- 880 in oakland. we first told you about the fire yesterday on the kron 4 morning news. it started at a homeless encampment. a dog was killed in the fire. this was the scene between 22nd and 23rd avenues. investigators believe the fire may have been sparked by someone trying to cook in a tent. ( james ) damage is estimated at one- million dollars and a dog is missing after a house fire in cupertino. the flames

broke out in a two- story home on flora vista avenue, earlier last night. this is video from our helicopter partnership with abc-7. no word on what started the fire. flags in maryland had quite the scare when they were stuck on a roller coaster for hours. it happened last night on a ride called the joker's jinx. twenty-four people were stuck one-hundred feet off the ground. it took about five hours for firefighters to rescue all of them. six flags said in a statement that the ride stopped on a safe place along the track. the ride is closed while the amusement park investigates what caused this to happen. "where could he be, what is he doing? we were trying to find him and we were asking everywhere, driving everywhere." you see for carson, finn isn't just a dog... "he's basically my brother, because i was going to have a twin brother but he never came out of the womb." carson was diagnosed with vanishing twin syndrome at age two, an emotional separation deficiency. fremont due to an earlier crash ( mark ) new this morning... for the first time we are hearing from a teacher who was inside the san bernardino elementary school when a man opened fire killing a teacher and an 8-year-old student. crystal cruz spoke to the teacher and shares her story. jennifer downing /witnessed shooting"now that this events happened you're jumpiee and kind of looking over your should a little bit more."all to be expected after what teacher's assistant, jennifer downing went through on monday at her school north park elementary in san bernardino. for the first time since the shooting, staff returned to campus and faced any fears.

man after a deadly beating at a taco truck in richmond. it happened monday night on the corner of 23-rd street near clinton avenue. (ááátriggerááá) jose serrano is accused of knocking down the victim and beating him before running away. the victim---robert viera-- spent two days on life support before he died. serrano is now in jail on 1-million dollars bail. ( mark ) in san francisco... a ceremony was held on the golden gate bridge to announce the approval for construction of a new suicide deterrent system. golden gate bridge officials plan to build a safety barrier along the bridge. and although the new barrier is designed to prevent someone from committing suicide, it will not prevent someone from getting hurt. the construction will cost $204 - million dollars. cal-trans, the m-t-c, and the bridge district will cover the bulk of that cost. installation of the net will begin in 2018. and is scheduled to be complete in 2021. ( mark ) bart is considering increasing fares to solve a budget problem.

the board of directors met yesterday to deal with a projected shortfall of 30- million dollars next year. and fare increases are at the top of the list to fix the problem. the board is considering adding a 50- cent surcharge to the cost of paper tickets and reducing the discounts for children. the bart board is supposed to vote on the budget in june.
