(jrs) now at 8. an east bay student community in shock. after a u-c berkeley woman falls to her death from a third story balcony.(jrs) thank you for joining us i'm j-r stone. (justine) and i'm justine waldman. kron 4's ella sogomonian is live at the berkeley police station. tonight she spoke with witnesses of the horrific end to the young student's life. a woman who was there when it happened says the traumatic was a complete accident that has left family and friends grieving over a tragic loss. just after midnight sunday morning residents of this apartment building say a uc berkeley student fell to her

death from a balcony on the third floor. "it was surreal. i think all of us were in shock and numb."the alameda county coroner's office identified the victim as 21- year-old kimberly tze of elk grove. "there was a lot of blood and we didn't know where it was coming from."a passerby noticed the heavy police activity outside the building. "when i was walking by this side of the street was blocked off."the source tells kron 4 that it was an unfortunate accident. investigators have yet to release what caused the young woman to fall off the balcony. live in berkeley ella sogomonian kron 4 news. celebrate the birthday of their late husband and father. they had planned to spread his ashes in the redwood national park. but before they could....they ashes were stolen. the family told us they were taken from the trunk of their rental car parked at fisherman's wharf the two tearfully plead to the public for their return on wednesday and today they were reunited with their loved one's final remains. lawrence karnow: easter sunday was filled with rain and wind. many an easter egg hunt had to move indoors. tonight, showers continue but are becoming more widely scattered. you can see a few showers on our doppler radar. as much as a quarter of an inch of rain fell in the wettest parts of the bay area. you can see swirl of clouds as the storm moved onshore today. we had some brief moderate to heavy downpours and some gusty winds over 30 mph. this storm opened the door and we could see another round of rain coming our way. we'll tell you when coming up next.

(cheers)(jrs) roar-acle arena comes alive. the golden state warriors take game one in the first round of the n-b-a playoffs.(justine) the warriors beat the portland trail blazers 121 to 109. the dubs are the favorites to cruise through this series but portland definitely kept the pressure on.(jrs) kron-4's mark carpenter tells us what the warriors say will be key to winning the next one. playoff basketball always carries a different intensity and even though the trailblazers are an 8 seed, the warriors are still in for a big challenge. golden state had to fight off a 75-point

police are looking for three people in connection with a sexual assault and kidnapping. it happened last night on the 63-hundred block of international boulevard.. just a few blocks away from greenleaf elementary school. police tell us a woman was assaulted and kidnapped around 10 p-m. she later escaped. the victim suffered brusing, swelling and a minor cut. (jrs stone) saturday a gunman shot nine teenagers at a house party in vallejo. at the scene, officers learned a group of teens were gathered outside the home. when a gunman inside a car across the street opened fire at the crowd. four people were shot. five others suffered other injuries. police say all nine people are juvenilesand were taken to the hospital with minor to serious injuries. the get- away car is described as a four-door vehicle. possibly carrying two suspects. justine... you have learned police are now trying to reach out to the suspect. .(áájustineáá) police in cleveland say the suspect is... this man 37-year old steve stephens. police say he is armed and dangerous. the f-b-i is assisting cleveland police in their search. in the facebook video recorded today, stephens says he has also killed more than a dozen other people. police have not verified that information. according to cnn...the suspect spoke with his mother today... and told her ... he is mad with his girlfriend... and that's why he is shooting people.. the victim is 74-year-old robert goodwin, whose greiving son and daughter spoke about their loss. family members "this man right here is a good man and i hate that he is gone, you know what i mean. i don't know what i will do, it's not real! it's not real" /woman says "i believe my heart gonna stop." worked at a behavioral health agency helping children and families. facebook has released a statement condemning the killing. the company called it a "horrific crime," and said that it works hard to "keep a safe environment on facebook." (jr stone) new at 10. a man was severely injured in menlo park after his vehicle slammed into a tree and caught fire. it happened around four-30 this morning on sand hill road. once at the scene, firefighters quickly worked to extinguish the flames and rescue the victim. the victim, a man in his 20's. suffered from severe burns and extensive trauma as a result of the crash. and had to be extricated using the "jaws of life" cutters and spreaders. the victim's status and identification are unknown tonight. the cause of the crashis currently under investigation. (jr stone) and in santa clara. police arrest a man suspected of commitng several burglaries.(justine) they

say the suspect stored the stolen property in a storage unit. officers received a tip of the suspect's whereabouts earlier today. and rushed to a storage facility on lafayette street. there police surveiled the storage unit and found the suspect, sean o'donnel robertson. after searching robertson, officers found drugs. robertson's storage locker and his vehicle contained about two grand worth of stolen proterty. most of the stolen property was returned to the victims. (jrstone) a united flight to hawaii this morning was short lived when the plane had to return to s-f-o. airport officials says crews were forced to make an emergency landing because of mechanical problems. the flight was headed to kona international aiport on hawaii's big island. the plane landed safely at s-f-o around 10-30 a-m. passengers were transfered to another plane to complete their journey. dozen states are trying to lower the voting age. it's part of an effort to increase voter participation by targeting young people. california lawmakers are pushing a bill to lower the voting age to 17. they believe it will give a voice to more people affected by the outcome of elections. nearly 500 pieces of legislation have been introduced to make voting easier this year alone. some republican-leaning states are trying to tighten voting rules... it would require a photo i-d at the polls. (jrs) a wet and dreary easter sunday. certainly not the best day for egg hunting. (jrstone) an undocumented denver mother was trying to protect her four children by seeking sanctuary at a local church.(justine) but because of the new immigation law... she was deported instead. vincente fox has more about the fight to bring more housing to undocumented immigrants to the area. colorado was the place maria de jesus sanchez called home

for 18 years. but in a flash, everything changed. on wednesday, sanchez was arrested at a deportation hearing in centennial. her attorney says she was trying to do the right thing.jennifer kain-rios/immigration attorney: "she wanted to make sure that if she complied with her obligations -- she knew that if she didn't, ice would come looking for her ending up at her house, traumatizing her children."border patrol agents first arrested sanchez trying to cross the border illegally in 2001.in 2012, she was arrested again -this time in aurora - after a traffic stop. ice had allowed her to stay, but that changed this year when immigration laws were tightened. jennifer kain- rios/immigration attorney:"the denial of the stay of removal had no explanation whatsoever. in previous years, the approvals for stays of removal explained all the reasons why she should be able to remain in the u.s. despite the problems in her immigration history."sanchez is a mother of four and had hoped to take

sanctuary at a church in denver.like the first unitarian where jeanette vizguerra, another undocumented immigrant has been staying for two months. vizguerra told us she fell to pieces when sanchez came asking for help. jeannette vizguerra/undocumented immigrant:"my heart is broke. it's the same as my family." but first unitarian wouldn't take sanchez. neither would another sanctuary church in the denver area. first unitarian pastor mike morran says more sanctuaries are needed.voice of pastor mike morran/first unitarian church of denver:"oh my goodness, yes, there are so many more spaces needed. i know of at least five other congregations that are thinking about sanctuary or moving towards offering sanctuary, but are just not physically ready yet." two churches are already housing undocumented immigrants in the denver area. morran says several others are hoping to do the same. and prevent other people like sanchez from being separated from their families. year-old boy wound up dead at a daycare. bryanna reasonover says she found her son-- korey-- unresponsive inside a "pack 'n play" friday. she say her son had bruising and what appeared to be human bites on his body. the daycare claims it does not know what happened to korey. the daycare has been licensed and in operation since november of last year. its online record shows no violations. police have not yet released anymore information about the investigation. (justine) thousands of christians flocked to the vatican today to celebrate mass with the pope. the warriors swept the trail blazers in their four regular season meetings this year. but the playoffs are a season of their own. oracle arena was roaring... kevin durant playing in his first playoff game as a warrior... but oakland's very own damain lillard was trying to ruin the party. durant gets it started... he explodes to the rim... showing no signs of having any knee problems. he led golden state with 32 points and 10 rebounds... but c-j mccollum and lillard made it a game mccollum was handful for klay thompson... he drops 41 to cut warriors lead by 3 and before halftime lillard nails a 30-footer to give portland the lead... the blazers backcourt combined for 75 points. but the second half it was a different story... draymond green was everywhere... after thompson turned the ball over...he blocks noah voleh... he finshed the game with five

was filled with rain and wind. many an easter egg hunt had to move indoors. tonight, showers continue but are becoming more widely scattered. you can see a few showers on our doppler radar. as much as a quarter of an inch of rain fell in the wettest parts of the bay area. you can see swirl of clouds as the storm moved onshore today. we had some brief moderate to heavy downpours and some gusty winds over 30 mph. this storm opened the door and we could see another round of rain coming our way. we'll tell you when coming up next.
