( mark ) a woman is brutally beaten near san jose state university and the attackers are still on the loose this morning.( darya ) this is a story we first told you about yesterday on the kron 4 morning news. anny hong is here with new surveillance video of the incident. anny. ( anny @ land ) this is new surveillance video showing several women fighting each other outside a jack in the box. it happened early yesterday morning at east san carlos street and 4th street. police say the group of women ganged up on one victim... kicking her in the head several times. she is now in the hospital suffering serious head trauma. nearby business owners say there has been an increase in violence in the neighborhood. just this year there have been at least two shootings on the same

street. ( mark ) police are making progress in tracking down the group of teenagers who jumped on a train and robbed and attacked several passengers. police have identified some of the roughly 50 teenagers who stormed a bart train at the coliseum station in oakland. arrest warrants have been issued for some of the suspects...and bart police are hoping local schools will be able to help them identify more kids. about 60 teenagers jumped the fare gates... boarded a train and robbed at least seven people and punched at least two of them. police believe the kids are all under the age of 18. because all of the suspects are minors...investi gators are not releasing the surveillance video from the attack. ( mark ) and now... just days after that attack bart says it has a new strategy to prevent potential attacks. at the lake merritt station tuesday night, a bart worker saw at least three teenagers jump the gate without paying their fare. a bart employee called police who then instructed the trains to keep moving through the

station so the teens could not get on the train. the teens were able to get away before police arrived. bart says not stopping the trains could prevent group robberies from happening in the future. ( mark ) although the teens were not allowed to get on the train.... it was an inconvenience for passengers who missed their stop. bart says people affected in the future will have to get off at the next stop and get on a train headed back to their original destination. ( darya ) new this morning...fairfield police have arrested a man they say exposed himself to two 13-year-old girls near a bus stop. police say enrique cisneros was found at the bus stop and matched the description given by the two girls. the incident happened yesterday morning at a bus stop on atlantic avenue. when officers arrived, cisneros took off running but police eventually caught up with him. he is being charged with indecent exposure.

(darya) two workers are injured after part of a construction site collapses in menlo park. the iron workers were working on facebook's new building. this is video showing the site where the building is being built. fire firefighters say part of that building collapsed and the two workers fell. they were working about 40 feet in the air. when firefighters arrived both men were conscious and complaining about pain in their legs. both men were wearing a safety harness and the fire chief says that prevented them from slamming into the ground. (mark) breaking overnight... firefighters in vallejo put out a house fire that broke out early this morning. this is video from the scene. it happened just before 1:00 this morning on benicia road. investigators say the fire appears suspicious because the house is vacant. ( mark ) in the east bay... friends are mourning the loss of a high school student who died while training for the marines. 17-year-old floyd burrell was a senior at pittsburg high

school. on tuesday evening, he collapsed at veterans park in brentwood during a training exercise to prepare for the marine corps. floyd was planning on attending boot camp once he graduated in june. kron four spoke with friends and classmates who say they are struggling to cope with floyd's death. (mark) floyd's father says his son died from an asthma attack. ( darya ) a judge has dismissed most of the charges against a man shot by san francisco police officers. body camera video captured the incident in january. police responded to the

oceanview home of sean moore over a noise complaint. the 43-year-old repeatedly told officers to get off his steps. they say moore eventually started hitting and kicking the officers. that's when they opened fire. moore is still facing one felony battery charge. (mark) the fresno man accused of killing three people in a racially-motivated shooting rampage has been formally charged with murder. this morning his attorney says kor ali muhammad may not be mentally competent enough to stand trial. muhammad faces three counts of first degree murder. he was also charged with attempted murder for shooting at people he didn't hit. police say the 39-year-old told investigators he wanted to kill as many white people as possible. earlier this week muhammad was charged with a fourth murder that happened just days before the shooting spree. if convicted, muhammad faces a death sentence or life in prison. (darya) a gruesome discovery near a trail in vallejo.. dozens of decomposed dogs found in trash

bags. carine (ka-reen) peters found the dead dogs near the blue rock springs park and golf club. peters says she told animal control and the solano county sheriff's office but they did not look into it. so she contacted an animal rescue group called "cares" in solano county. the rescue group says it found long sticks with sharp blades and box cutters which may have been used to kill the animals. (darya) the dogs did not have tags, collars or microchips (mark) president trump has released his new tax reform plan. the administration is calling it the largest tax reform in the history of the country. included in the president's proposal is a plan to cut the tax rate for businesses down to 15 percent and reduce the number of tax

brackets for individuals from seven to three. republicans are expressing support for the proposal while democrats want to know how the president plans to pay for the cuts. < rep. chris collins: "clearly the administration and congress in the house, we are on the same page."rep. nancy pelosi: "the republicans have avoided paying for their tax cuts.">(mark) some economists predict that the tax cuts will add trillions of dollars to the national debt. and some members of congress have said they will not support any tax reform that adds to the national debt. ( darya ) happening today... the antioch couple accused of trying to kill an 11-month-old baby are due in court. marcel brooks and his girlfirend adanna ibe were arrested last week. the shooting happened inside a mcdonald's in san leandro. police say the baby was with his mother when ibe walked up and fired a single shot and then left the restaurant. police say it was a miracle that she missed.

investigators later learned that brooks is the baby's father. the two are set to appear in court later this morning. (darya) an 86-year-old woman is dead after being beaten to death in sacramento county. police say this was a random attack and the attacker is still on the loose this morning. the unprovoked attack happened as she was walking around a high school track yesterday in north highlands. the victim was with another woman who was also injured in the attack, but she is expected to recover. police say a man walked up to the two women and punched and kicked them. by the time police arrived the woman was already dead and the attacker had gotten away. (mark) a warning if you ate at chipotle in the last month... the restaurant says their payment system may have been hacked, and your information could have been stolen. chipotle discovered the data breach on tuesday. they say they are now looking at card payments at all of their restaurants between march 24th and april 18th. people

who paid with a credit or debit card during that time will be notified if their account is at risk of being compromised. this is the latest problem for chipotle after they are still trying to recover from an e-coli outbreak in 20-15. (mark) there are concerns this morning that people are abusing rules for service animals. this comes as service dogs are becoming a common sight in california, the rules are meant to protect people with disabilities who rely on service animals for every day tasks. officials from guide dogs of the desert in palm springs say emotional support dogs don't count as service animals under the americans with disabilities act. it's easy to register your dog as a service animal online... and now officials think people are abusing it so they can bring their dogs wherever they go. according to california law, anyone who gets caught passing off a pet as a service animal could be charged with a misdemeanor.

(mark) other news making national headlines this morning... a 6th grader is suspended for the way he cut his hair.(darya) anny hong is here to explain why parents are upset. (anny) the boy and his parents say it's not fair he was punished for his haircut. it happened in texas last week. when the boy showed up to his school near houston he was sporting this haircut. his teacher told him he can't have two lines shaved into in his hair and was sent to the office. the school said the boy had to fix it by monday or be punished with suspension. after one day of in school suspension... his mom came up with a solution...

(mark) scary moments as a landslide covers part of a freeway... and sends crews running for cover. it happened over the weekend on highway 10i in mendocino county. this is the second time in the past two months this section of highway has been closed due to a landslide. the woman who took this video says because caltrans shut down the road moments before the slide... they saved drivers (mark) caltrans says the ground remains unstable and is still slipping. it's going to take at least until tomorrow to clear the rocks and dirt from the road. agents found two airline passengers smuggling cocaine under their pants. these are pictures shared by custom border patrol in new york city. (mark) it happened at the j-f-k airport. two people were arrested on the same flight trying to bring the drugs into the united states. one of them was a u-s citizen and the other was from the dominican republic.(darya)

they both had about 10 pounds of cocaine taped to their legs. the two have been arrested, they now face federal drug smugging charges. (mark) a new study reveals the safest seat to sit on during your flight. (darya) this comes as zero people have died from plane crashes on domestic flights for the seventh year in a row. experts say air travel is the safest form of transportation and your odds of dying in a crash are well into the millions. (mark) but a lot of people ask "what if"... so scientists studied which seat is the safest. they say passengers in the back of the plane had a 69- percent survival rate, and seats in the middle have a 56- percent survival rate. (darya) the least safe place to sit in a plane is the aisle seats in the middle third of the cabin.

( darya ) the recent mob attack by dozens of teenagers on a bart train has prompted another victim to come forward. she says bart police did not take the assault on her seriously enough. 22-year-old tess pawlisch was attacked while riding on bart in oakland back in february. she says she was looking at her phone when a teenage girl attacked her and then ran off the train at the west oakland station. witnesses alerted the train operator for help, but the train left the station and bart police were not alerted until the next day when pawlisch reported it. ( darya ) pawlisch says she reached

out to bart police a month after the attack but did not get a response. the acting deputy chief says he was made aware of the case just two weeks ago and has since apologized for the delay. (mark) a man was kicked off a delta airlines flight after he used the bathroom during a tarmac delay.(anny) anny hong is here with the details. (anny) kima hamilton was booked to fly from atlanta to milwaukee for work. hamilton originally asked one flight attendant if he could use the bathroom at the back of the plane during the delay. the attendant said no. hamilton went back to his seat but couldn't hold it any longer as the delay went on. he says he had to get up and use the bathroom to avoid an accident.

(mark) the airline says it will now limit its use of law enforcement to safety and security issues only. it will not require customers seated on the plane to give up their seat involuntarily unless safety or security is at risk . and they are increasing the amount they can offer passengers to give up their seat up to 10-thousand dollars. some of the policy changes have already been implemented, while others are set to roll out in the near future. crime in vacaville. this is new cell phone video showing a white mercedes engulfed in flames. it happened near a gas station. you can see the fire burning a power pole just feet from nearby gas pumps. k-k-k was spray painted on the car before the fire was started. the owner of the gas station say this is the second time that racist graffiti was found in the area. he says k-k-k was also painted on the side of his building and on one of his gas pumps. he thinks that it could be the same person responsible for both incidents. ( mark ) people living in a warehouse in san francisco's bernal heights neighborhood have now been evicted. deputies served the notice yesterday and changed the locks on the front door. the warehouse has been inspected by the city and had numerous safety violations. tenants tried to address those concerns, but lost a court battle against the warehouse owner that might have allowed them to stay. this is one of the first warehouse evictions since the ghost ship warehouse fire in oakland that killed 36 people. the owner plans to tear down the warehouse while tenants are still searching for a place to live. ( darya ) the man accused of a mass killing at an oakland university makes a brief appearance in court. 48-year-old one goh is accused of killing seven people at oikos university in 2012. in court yesterday, goh's plea was delayed until next tuesday. prosecutors say he dropped out of oikos several months before the shooting and wanted his tuition refunded. court appointed doctors say goh is now mentally competant to stand trial. ( darya ) the man accused of trying to kidnap a woman in san francisco says he's not guilty. darrin bravo made his first court appearance yesterday. he was arrested over the weekend in sonoma county. police say that he tried to grab a woman on steiner street in san francisco. she was not injured. bravo is charged with attempted kidnapping and

( anny ) carine peters found the dead dogs near the blue rock springs park and golf club. peters says she told animal control and the solano county sheriff's office but they did not look into it. so she contacted an animal rescue group called "cares" in solano county. the rescue group says it found long sticks with sharp blades and box cutters which may have been used to kill the animals. friends are mourning the loss of a high school student who died while training for the marines. 17-year-old floyd burrell was a senior at pittsburg high school. on tuesday evening, he collapsed at veterans park in brentwood during a training exercise to prepare for the marine corps. floyd was planning on attending boot camp once he graduated in june. kron four spoke with friends and classmates who say they are struggling to cope with floyd's death.

dozens of teenagers on a bart train has prompted another victim to come forward. she says bart police did not take the assault on her seriously enough. 22-year-old tess pawlisch was attacked while riding on bart in oakland back in february. she says she was looking at her phone when a teenage girl attacked her and then ran off the train at the west oakland station. witnesses alerted the train operator for help, but the train left the station and bart police were not alerted until the next day when pawlisch

(darya) two workers are injured after part of a construction site collapses in menlo park. the iron workers were working on facebook's new building. this is video showing the site where the building is being built. fire firefighters say part of that building collapsed and the two workers fell. they were working about 40 feet in the air. when firefighters arrived both men were conscious and complaining about pain in their legs. both men were

wearing a safety harness and the fire chief says that prevented them from slamming into the ground. ( mark ) people living in a warehouse in san francisco's bernal heights neighborhood have now been evicted. deputies served the notice yesterday and changed the locks on the front door. the warehouse has been inspected by the city and had numerous safety violations. tenants tried to address those concerns, but lost a court battle against the warehouse owner that might have allowed them to stay. this is one of the first warehouse evictions since the ghost ship warehouse fire in oakland that killed 36 people. the owner plans to tear down the warehouse while tenants are still searching for a place to live. ( darya ) the man accused of a mass killing at an oakland university makes a brief appearance in court. 48-year-old one goh is accused of killing seven people at oikos university in 2012. in court yesterday, goh's plea was delayed until next tuesday. prosecutors say he dropped out of oikos

( mark ) in san jose. . . police identify a man who was shot and killed over the weekend at a motel-six. officers responded to reports of the shooting at around 3:30 saturday morning. they found 22-year-old dominic lashawn junior and two other men suffering gunshot wounds. the two other men were treated for their injuries which were nonlife-threatening. smith died at the scene. no arrests have been made in connection to the shooting. this is the city's eighth

( darya ) this morning we are getting a look at new video showing a fire that is being investigated as a hate crime in vacaville. this is new cell phone video showing a white mercedes engulfed in flames. it happened near a gas station. you can see the fire burning a power pole just feet from nearby gas pumps. k-k-k was spray painted on the car before the fire was started. the owner of the gas station say this is the second time that racist graffiti was found in the area. he says k-k-k was also painted on the side of his building and on one of his gas pumps. he thinks that it could be the same person responsible incidents. ( mark ) after weeks of negotiations, republican lawmakers have introduced a new amendment to a bill to repeal and replace the affordable care act. the amendment cleared its first major hurdle by winning over the conservative freedom caucus. now it will mainly be up to moderate republicans

( mark ) we are now hearing from some of the survivors of the oakland fire that killed four people as it tore through a low-income apartment last month. they claim the building had slum conditions. 15 former tenants are suing the building's owner. they are also accusing the owners and managers of ignoring a string of fire code violations. the march 27th fire... which fire officials said was caused by a candle... killed four people. 6 others were also injured in the blaze. the fire also displaced about 100 people who lived in the building.

rescued after being kidnapped and trapped in a hole in the ground. the woman was reported missing yesterday morning in blanchester, ohio. she was found in a backyard after neighbors reported hearing faint cries for help and called police. police found the woman trapped in a hole that was about 4 foot deep. the small pit was covered with wood and heavy objects to keep her from escaping. police were able to arrest the man who kidnapped her. ( darya ) u-s senators met with president trump's top security officials to discuss the growing tensions between the united states and north korea. the briefing happened yesterday with all 100 senators taking buses to the white house. president trump spoke briefly but the session was lead by his national security team. north korea is expected to launch its sixth nuclear test. this comes as the united states is keeping its strike force on the korean peninsula.

at the lake merritt station tuesday night, a bart worker saw at least three teenagers jump the gate without paying their fare. a bart employee called police who then instructed the trains to keep moving through the station so the teens could not get on the train. the teens were able to get away before police arrived. bart says not stopping the trains could prevent group robberies from happening in the future. ( mark ) although the teens were not allowed to get on the train.... it was an inconvenience for passengers who missed their stop. bart says people affected in the future will have to get off at the next stop and get on a train headed back to their original destination. ( darya ) new this morning...fairfield police have arrested a man they say exposed himself to two 13-year-old girls near a bus stop. police say enrique cisneros was found at the bus stop and matched the description given by the two girls. the incident

( mark ) the fresno man accused of killing three people in a racially-motivated shooting rampage has been formally charged with murder. kori ali muhammad faces three counts of first degree murder. he was also charged with attempted murder for shooting at people he didn't hit. police say the 39-year-old told investigators he wanted to kill as many white people as possible. earlier this week muhammad was charged with a fourth murder that happened just days before the shooting spree. if convicted, muhammad faces a death sentence or life in prison. this morning his attorney says muhammad may not be mentally competent enough to stand trial. ( mark ) two workers are injured after part of a construction site collapses in menlo park. the iron workers were working on facebook's new building. this is video showing the site where the building is being built. fire firefighters say part of that building collapsed and the two workers fell. they were working about 40 feet in the air. when firefighters arrived both men were conscious and complaining about pain in their legs. both men were wearing a safety harness and the fire chief says that prevented them from the ground. ( mark ) new this morning... two u-s service members have been killed fighting isis in afghanistan. the two americans were conducting a joint operation with afghan forces. so far... few details have been released about how they died

military officials say the service members were with the special operations forces. a third soldier was killed in the fire fight that killed the soldiers. ( darya ) the recent mob attack by dozens of teenagers on a bart train has prompted another victim to come forward. she says bart police did not take the assault on her seriously enough. 22-year-old tess pawlisch was attacked while riding on bart in oakland back in february. she says she was looking at her phone when a teenage girl attacked her and then ran off the train at the west oakland station. witnesses alerted the train operator for help, but the train left the station and bart police were not alerted until the next day when pawlisch reported it.

( mark ) in the east bay... friends are mourning the loss of a high school student who died while training for the marines. 17-year-old floyd burrell was a senior at pittsburg high school. on tuesday evening, he collapsed at veterans park in brentwood during a training exercise to prepare for the marine corps. floyd was planning on attending boot camp once he graduated in june. kron four spoke with friends and classmates who say they are struggling to cope with floyd's death.

( darya ) people living in a warehouse in san francisco's bernal heights neighborhood have now been evicted. deputies served the notice yesterday and changed the locks on the front door. the warehouse has been inspected by the city and had numerous safety violations. tenants tried to address those concerns, but lost a court battle against the warehouse owner that might have allowed them to stay. this is one of the first warehouse evictions since the ghost ship warehouse fire in oakland that killed 36 people. the owner plans to tear down the warehouse while tenants are still searching for a place to live. oakland university makes a brief appearance in court. 48-year-old one goh is accused of killing seven people at oikos university in 2012. in court yesterday, goh's plea was delayed until next tuesday. prosecutors say he dropped out of oikos several months before the shooting and wanted his tuition refunded. court appointed doctors say goh is now mentally competant to stand trial. ( mark ) the man accused of trying to kidnap a woman in san francisco says he's not guilty. darrin bravo made his first court appearance yesterday. he was arrested over the weekend in sonoma county. police say that he tried to grab a woman on steiner street in san francisco. she was not injured. bravo is charged with attempted kidnapping and is being held on half-a- million dollars bail. ( darya ) in san jose. . . police identify a man who was shot and killed over the weekend at a motel-six. officers responded to reports of the shooting at around 3:30 saturday morning. they found 22-year-old dominic lashawn junior and two other men suffering gunshot wounds.

the two other men were treated for their injuries which were nonlife-threatening. smith died at the scene. no arrests have been made in connection to the shooting. this is the city's eighth homicide this year. ( darya ) this morning we are getting a look at new video showing a fire that is being investigated as a hate crime in vacaville. this is new cell phone video showing a white mercedes engulfed in flames. it happened near a gas station. you can see the fire burning a power pole just feet from nearby gas pumps. k-k-k was spray painted on the car before the fire was started. the owner of the gas station say this is the second time that racist graffiti was found in the area. he says k-k-k was also painted on the side of his building and on one of his gas pumps. he thinks that it could be the same person responsible for both ( mark ) after weeks of negotiations, republican lawmakers have introduced a new amendment to a bill to repeal and replace the affordable care act. the amendment cleared its first major hurdle by winning over

the conservative freedom caucus. now it will mainly be up to moderate republicans to get this key piece of legislation passed. the revised measure aims to give states the chance to limit coverage for pre-existing conditions and cuts back on medicaid. ( mark ) covering california... a proposal to eliminate health insurance companies and guarantee health care for everyone in the state is moving forward. the senate health committee voted yesterday to send the measure to the appropriations committee. the proposal is promoted by the states nursing union who say the state should create a national model for providing health care for everyone. critics say the measure would disrupt the health care used by millions of people, would require high taxes and would likely create longer waits to

( darya ) new this morning... sugary drinks will no longer be served with kids meals at santa clara county restaurants. the new ordinance prohibits the sale of drinks other than milk and water with kids meals. county officials say this is a step towards fighting obesity. currently one out of every four kids in the country are considered obese. and according to health officials nearly half of all adults in santa clara county have diabetes or pre-diabetes. the board of supervisors also approved a measure to end the sale of sugary drinks in the cafe and gift shop at the santa clara valley medical center. this baby monkey in new orleans..... her name is ua (ooh-aah), which means "flower" in swahili. she is just over a month old. the monkey is fuzzy and white now, but she will soon be black with white fur around her face. unlike most monkeys, this species lacks thumbs. the zoo says they are threatened by the loss of forests cut down for houses, farms and roads.
