( robin @ tele ) the starts at 10:00 a-m. this is the map of the parade route ad the key streets thatll be blocked off to traffic. ac transit re- routes and detours are already in place. the parade start on broadway and 11th street. heads straight down broadway and then it will turn on grand avenue. then it will turn right on harrison street and traveling to 19th street. then it will turn right on lakeside drive ending on oak and continuing to the convention center for the rally. that is the area circled in pink. and in preparation for the parade several roads are closed this morning. and some major ramp on 880 in downtown oakland, like oak st, broadway &

( mark ) four people are dead including the gunman after an employee opened fire at a u-p-s center in san francisco. this morning we are learning more about the victims and the gunamn in the shooting. the shooting happened at around nine a-m near 17th and utah street. a u-p-s spokesman says an employee fired inside the building before the drivers were sent out to do their daily deliveries. the gunman, jimmy lam, shot and killed three people and injured two others. the gunman later turned the gun on himself once police arrived. union officials say he had recently filed a grievance with the company. one u-p-s employee who witnessed

the deadly shooting said he had to run for his life. ( mark ) as for the victims.... 46-year-old michael lefiti (la-feet-e) of hercules, pictured here, was killed in the shooting. as well as 56-year-old wayne chan and 50-year-old benson louie. both lived in san francisco. (james) we first broke this story to you yesterday in the kron four morning news. it happened yesterday just before five a-m during an early morning practice for a republicans' charity baseball game. two capitol police officers, a congressional aide and a lobbyist were also injured in the shooting. they are expected to be okay. the gunman was shot and killed by police. he is identified as 66-year-old james t hodgkinson. he is a former volunteer for senator bernie sanders' presidential campaign. his social media is filled with anti-trump sentiment. senator sanders spoke out against the actions yesterday saying he is quote, "sickened by this despicable act." one g-o-p representative says he was approached in the parking lot before the

warriors are your n-b-a champions for the second time in three years. (mark) and while it seemed like golden state was going to sweep the cavs in the series... it wasn't that easy. (james) kron four's mark carpenter takes a look back at the road to winning the finals.

the finals with a kick to the face. and it's on to game two. for the second part of the series, the warriors said hello to an old friend, steve kerr. he turned to the bench after missing time for complications from back surgery. the team made him feel right at home. klay thompson broke out of a play-off shooting slump. k-d, did k-d type things and curry put lebron through the spin cycle.

2015 and were blown out last season by 30 points. so they knew the cavs were going to come out swinging. behind lebron and flash to kyrie irving, the cavs put themselves back in the series. led by 6 with three minutes to go in the fourth, then the warriors went on an 11-0 run. just when the cavs thought they had the chance, durant turned the lights out. a tagger from k-d to ruin any hope for a cleveland win and put the warriors one victory away from completing the title sweep. the warriors entered game four, a historic 15-0 and on the verge of clinching the series on the road. but the reigning finals m-v-p would

not allow any brooms in his house. episode four of this series. tense as k-d and lebron went face to face. zaza pachulia nearly sparked a bench clearing brawl and draymond green almost ejected in the third quarter. cleveland swung those emotions in their favor. dropping nearly fifty points in the first quarter and hitting a finals record of twenty-four 3-pointers. the cavs deny the warriors sweep and ruin the perfect play-off record, so a title celebration will have to wait a few more days. the series moved back to oakland with a familiar story line unfolding. the cavs down 3-1 and looking to mount a legendary come-back. golden state not about to make the same mistake twice. the warriors came out looking like a team

ready to hold a trophy yet cleveland wouldn't die that easily. the cavs were within three in the fourth quarter, but the m-v-p's wouldn't let the game get any closer. once again, durant stayed on the war-path to his first title. ripping off 39 points and sealing his case for finals m-v-p. and steph chipped in 34 of his own. put on the finishing touches and then it was all over. the golden state warriors. your world champions for the second time in three years. and with four all-stars under the age of 30, it doesn't look like the champagne will stop flowing anytime soon. and this golden dynasty is just

(james) one of the biggest moments from the warriors season is when golden state signed kevin durant.(mark) he made the decision on july 4th last year. this is video of the k-d signage going up outside of oracle arena shortly after the announcement durant signed a two-year 54 million dollar agreement with the warriors. it's considered one of the greatest acquisitions in n-b-a history. (mark) and there was a lot of backlash when k-d came to the warriors. this is video as he returned to

oklahoma city for the first time. there was a lot of talk about the relationship between durant and former teammate russel westbrook. they did not speak for much of the season... but the latest report says they are on speaking terms again. westbrook signed a contract extension with the thunder shortly after durant left for the (james) and the return had one major theme.... "cupcake" signs were all over the arena this was in reference to an instagram post russell westbrook made after durant signed with the warriors intimating durant was a "cupcake" for leaving the thunder. steph curryand draymond green got into the joke wearing the cupcake t-shirts after the game. durant's mom also got into the act. wearing a cupcake t-shirt of her own with the caption "after this tough & crazy weekend, i realized how much i love a great!!! cupcake" < "we did it. i told you when i was eight years old, we did it!" you hear me? look at me! you did it!>(mark) kevin durant won his

first we want to go to the traffic hot spot. >> a problem on the east shore freeway, people trying to get into downtown oakland. let'stalk about this big problem on 80 in berkeley between gillman and bucannan. they're pushingsome of the traffic over to the 580 split. we have a box truck, several vehicles that need to be clear with traffic at a standstill. you may want to consider -- instead of the east shore freeway. westbound thecommute side nothing is blocked but even worse, traffic crawl out of rich monday, 42 minutes total a stretch to avoid. remember broadway, jackson, oak street, all blocked off for the warriors parade that's going to start at 10:00 this morning but they blocked those ramps off at 7:00 and that's putting more pressure on the freeway. youshould avoid it. everybody isrolling into downtown oakland right now.

weather this morning... a major hot . let's get an up-2008 on traffic and weather right now. >> the east shore freeway is blocking 2 lanes of traffic. the 2 left lanes are blocked, an accident that's been working for over an hour now. at one pointwe had all lanes closed appeared they were diverting traffic off to 580, now, it's backed up into the

maze causing a major delay for eastbound commuters. youmay want to stick with city streets. westbound it's goingto be about 40 minutes to get down to oakland. checking onour bridges still crowded here, but no major issues. it's a24-minute trip heading over to the peninsula. bay bridge outjust a tad the cash lanes and or a pool lanes 14 minutes to work your way into downtown san francisco. stay away from the nemitz not looking so good right now. we have those closures in place into downtown oakland, broadway, jackson, oak street the on and off ramps blocked because of the warriors parade that's why it's 60 minutes to downtown oakland. so take 580instead only 32 minutes, that will save you some time. here's a look at the forecast this morning starting with a live look out here at sfo, blue skies, sunshine and that will be the case in downtown oakland where the

warriors victory parade will be moving its way from start to finish. mid-60s with sunny and slightly breezy conditions. temperatures right now getting warmer, more and more 60s on the map, 60 in livermore, by this afternoon we'll expect mid to upper 80s to low 90s for the east bay and north bay with low to mid-80s in the south bay. along the waterfront today looking for mid-70s from oakland all the way down to freemont. high pressure keeping most of the clouds and activity to our north. nothing but sunny and hot for the next several. 100 by saturday. looks like we'llkeep it in triple digit territory through the weekend. we'll talk more about how that might be dangerous coming up. and with the golden state warriors champs it seemed like they were going to sweep the cavs, it wasn't that easy. >> they would fight back

route. we've got a spokesperson joining us on the phone to talk more about how the system is coping with what we assume is a crush of fans this morning. . >> yeah, we have a lot of riders, we've got a lot of people using the 19th street station and 12th street which is great. that's exactly with a we want you to do and avoid the lake merit station. we have 35%compared to last thursday. it'scrowded but a ton of trains and they're longer than they usually are. >> 35% more. can you put a number on that? . >> yeah, we've had over 1 00,000 riders so far enter the system. the end of the line stations for things like dublin, those have the highest riderships and downtown oakland locations are the ones very crowded with people getting out and heading to the parade. . >> if the train arrives full does it stop or go through

station? >> we haven't had to do that yet where we skip stop. so farwe've been able to stop. everynow and then a platform will be so crowded not everyone gets on the train but that's usual a san francisco train and luckily the next train coming into in is headinged towards freemont and has plenty of room. yes, thingsare crowded but we're able to manage it so far and haven't had to skip any stations yet. . >> so give our viewers some tips if they still want to hop on, what stations look the most crowded to you right now and what ones are not? >> it just depends as people have been standing on a platform for maybe 10 minutes obviously it gets crowded right now the busiest stations have been freemont, 19th street, 12th street. >> good enough. hey, thank youso much for joining this morning and giving

. thank you for joining us at the half hour mark. . >> bay area weather and traffic. we've been tracking a major hot spot this morning. >> much heavier than usual for 80 commuters rolling east because of a crash that's been blocking for quite some time at the gillman street exit. had at6:54 this morning involving several vehicles and a box truck. we've gone from all lanes blocked and traffic diverted to just the left lane but a nasty backup rolling east. use city streets if you have a short trip. it's backed up into the maze, but the westbound ride is winding down looking much better but still slow out of richmond into oakland your drive time as decreased to 37 minutes now for the westbound side the opposite side of the crash. theplace to avoid this morning with those on and off ramps closed in downtown oakland, jackson, broadway, oak street

it is just creeping along major delays with folks trying to get to the parade and avoid the closures 61 minutes to downtown so take 580 west instead. that's goingto help you out. anothertraffic check coming up in a bit. as we take a live look here at your forecast we're looking at nice conditions out there, blue sky, look at that, just a few clouds, as for the weather today here's a quick break down of what we'll expect as we walk you through t. more and more 60s as we're starting to see things warm up. noon we're looking at mostly 70s with the inland valleys getting up to almost 80 and by 3 this afternoon we'll be pushing upper 80s to low 90s for some of our hottest inland valley locations. where theparade is going to be we're only going to max out in the mid-70s, going to feel beautiful out there. what a day for a parade. let's check in along the parade route. oa

players drive down here, all the players are going to be on double decker busses. it'sgoing to start with thompson and his teammates and of course the last guy to show up is going to be steph curry. so planning onfor a spectacular morning and of course lake merit will the parade will end and a celebration, a fun morning in oakland. >> i love the energy out there, all those fans back there behind you. can you see left or right? is there any room left? . >> you know, there's room, but you know, if you didn't show up now then bad for you because first of all, the off ramps on the freeways leading into oakland are closed so good luck getting in and bart is packed at all stations, but these people were smart, they're their is still some room along the route and a lot of people tell me they're just going to walk the route not planning on

morning and this is a map of the route and what's going to be blocked off, ac transit busses have started rerouting and detouring through downtown oakland. once againthe parade starts on broadway at 11th street i have it circled. from there it heads down broadway, it's going to turn on west grand then right onto harrison street, travel over to 19th, from there they're going to make a right onto lakeside drive, finally ending and continuing at the convention center right here for the big rally, that's the area we have circled for you in pink and preparation for the parade several roads are closed off this morning around lake merit and downtown oakland. mainly onand off ramps blocked off like oak street, broadway, jackson, and that's putting more pressure on the nemitz. the freewayalready backed up, so take 580 instead. if you're taking bart keep in mind that the schedule will be

heavy drive time. checking in on the bay bridge we haven't looked at this in a while clearing out in some of the cash lanes and some of the car pool lanes but still heavy. richmond bridge not so bad yes there's a crowd but nothing major going on heading into the north bay. right nowclocking in at 14 minutes and from this shot i can see some sunshine. oakland. today we're going to max out in the upper 80s, lowed 0s, you see that in the east bay, across the north bay same story, slightly warmer -- i should say slightly cooler but still warm with low 80s expected across the south bay. we've gothigh pressure that's going to keep the skies relatively clear, any activity that we've got is going to stay well to our north and that means the sun is going to bake us. the nationalweather service as you can see with this graphic has issued an excessive heat watch from friday through sunday all areas around the bay except for the immediate coast are going to be under conditions that could be dangerously hot for some. triple digit weather for saturday and sunday but hot weather will begin as early as friday. into early next week we'll stay with this hot weather forecast. i've got to tell you looking at some of the latest models some of the latest data come in we could be looking at triple digit weather well into the

middle of next week. braceyourself for a nice little stretch here of some hot temperatures especially inland. closer to the parade right now just over an hour away. (mark)(darya) taking a look overhead . good morning. getting readyfor the big parade just 45 minutes away. you can seefrom our helicopter shot that everybody is already assembled and waiting and this is the entered of the route where they have the big rally. >> that's right. it's a mess,the traffic, city streets, freeway, people are still trying to get there into downtown oakland right now. >> yeah, so, i mean, if you had to choose and you wanted to leave now because you could get there. >> yeah. >> and if you do you can walk and probably find a spot it's just the traffic. did youbattle the traffic what

would you think right now. >> bart i'd park at the nearest station but some of the lots are full so depends where you're coming from. do not get off at lake merit. hop on bart maybe get off at 12th street, 19th, walk off find a nice spot to watch the parade. look at thislong line of traffic trying to get to downtown. >> don't do that. >> no, you'll be frustrated and upset and not so happy >> a good thing a lot of skipping work to watch the parade. >> it helps the rest of the area. it's lighter than usual in some spots because everybody is in downtown oakland. but thedrive times for the nimitz have not been so good because some of those major ramps leading into downtown oakland like broadway and oak street and jackson, they're closed, you can't get on or off the freeway there. that's why it's extra slow. so55 minutes, major delays on the nimitz.

i've been suggesting 580 all morning west because look at that it's only 26 minutes compared to that drive on the nimitz freeway. that's how you save some time. if tough get to work if today is a regular day for you will be sitting in traffic in san francisco backed up beyond west grand but it's quiet. 25 minutes. no other big hot spots or mainly issues. it'sslow on the san mateo bridge. richmond bridge still backed up too but no big trouble spots into the north bay. one moreincident south 680, an accident blocking one lane so it's backed up well beyond 237. . >> all right. thank you. . continuing with your forecast now we're looking at pretty nice conditions again the sun has been out all morning long. and it's been clear. so we've been able to see the sun just fine and it's going to warm us up nicely. here's alook at your parade

forecast. there's the victory parade getting underway at 10:00 this morning. looking at mid-60swith a slight breeze coming from the ocean. 12:15 or so they're expecting that's when the parade will end and will start the speeches right at the shore line to lake merit. at that point inthe low 70s, but still very comfortable. make sure youdrink plenty of water though. here's where temperatures are right now. we've seen a steady increase in temperatures and more of the yellow taking over. we've got 66 in napa, 65 currently in livermore and those numbers will continue to climb until for the east bay valleys we get to the upper 80s. as we head into tomorrow we could be looking at 20 degrees above average for this time of year. upper 80s in the north bay low 80s in south bay and looking for a mix of low to mid-70s along the bay shore line. the wide picture which we can see here from the satellite perspective has relatively clear conditions over the san

and the traffic. trying to getthere. the best way to get there is bart right now because they are expecting up to a million people to jam not only the parade route but once you get to the convention center to watch the rally. and once you get in there it's going to be very difficult to get out as well. >> people have been waiting since 5 this morning to get their spot in line along the route as well as over by the facility where they're going to have the speeches. and liveright now along the parade route with more on the fans of that been gathered. >> it's only about 30 minutes builder before the start of the parade and here near the stage there are thousands of people. it's a sea of blue and gold and fans are so excite to be here. >> fans started to arrive as early as 3 p.m. kind of blue and almost all have some kind of blue and gold ready to cheer on the nba champions, it wasn't easy getting here, finding

parking close to the action is difficult. fans i talked to say it's worth all the sleep they gave up to be here. >> i just got back from school, so i go to school out of state and they don't know anything about the bay area culture. it's so unique and original, so i'm just happy to be here and celebrate. >> my husband loves to be on warriors ground. so we went tothe championship back in 2015, and we're excited to be here today. . >> happen to fall in place, so pretty much went on an hour and 15 minutes of sleep to be here. >> if you're going to be in the area you are encouraged to car pool or take public transit. bart is offering free parking. live look overhead at the parade right now. looking at the sky it is yellow and gorgeous. if we were to zoom in, it is all warriors colors and everybody is assembled. you can still get there. >> 12th street and 19th street is not like lake merritt because it is packed . >> we are getting ready for sunscreen. if you are getting ready for the parade, you will start baking. especially this weekend. today will be comfortable but if you are in the sunshine too long it will get pretty warm. this is what we are seeing right now.

blue skies. all the way your colors are working together today. today we are looking at more and more 60s. by noon we will expect 70. by 3:00 this afternoon will be be in the upper 80s and low 90s for the inland valleys. this weekend we are talking triple digit whether. that will continue into the middle of next week. let's talk about bart if you plan on using it to get to the parade. try to avoid the lake merritt station. that will be the most popular station. consider using 12th or 19th street instead. bart is saying they blocked off the 11th street entrances and exits to the 12th street station because it is too

crowded. consider that if you are going over. have a round-trip ticket and consider getting a clipper card. that we can afford the long lines. try not to take a bicycle. leave it at the ashley station. they have a bicycle valet. today until 4:00. they will not allow bicycles on the trains. and not in the car. we are 30 minutes away from the start of the war years championship parade. >> you have been following this historic run for the warriors. d

some people are saying he ruined basketball. i think all of the fans would agree that he is making it more fun than ever. >> reporter: the team said it over and over. there are certain rules in the nba. you have something called a salary cap. they made room and they are able to sign kevin durant. every other team in the league had an opportunity to sign him but the warriors got him . you win the title. and now the rest of the league is trained to figure out how to stop the golden state. it will be interesting to see what happens over the summer. >> the commissioner pointed out about the other teams getting better. >> you want to beat the warriors play better basketball . >> how deep are the crowds right now?

>> reporter: about 15 minutes ago, we were packed. now there are more and more as the minutes pass. you see the half and jersey and hear the air horns and balloons. in the distance everyone is ready for the parade to get going. the thing about the warriors every time there seems to be a public forum, whether it is games or a shootaround or an event in the community, the public always comes out. when you have a parade you will be having thousands upon thousands of people. it is a tremendous scene in downtown oakland. >> hold the shot on the crowds. this is a big-time parade. there are four or five people

deep. >> there are still people arriving. bart is bringing in over 100,000 writers today. truck behind me there is a way to buy tickets at the bart station in walnut creek. we were here as early as 4:30 and there were people here getting on bart to get to the parade in oakland. just a few tips. have someone drop you off. get left or uber or have someone drop you off. that we can avoid the parking mess. parking will be scarce at the bart station. do not use the lake merritt bart station. is the 19th street or the 12th street station. lake merritt is very small . patient is key. there will be a lot of bart writers today.

be patient. we spoke with people taking bart to the parade. >> traffic is crazy. and i am not a big fan of driving and it. >> you do not have to worry about parking or traffic. you do not have to worry about it. >> reporter: if you are taking bart, there could be some delays. they are pushing as many trains in oakland as possible. the parade starts at 10:00 this morning. if you are going to the parade or baseball game , this is a route of the streets that will be blocked off. keep in mind that ac transit will reroute the buses. you will see the tours and they

are in place. the parade starts at 11th and broadway. it goes down broadway and then will turn onto west grand and then on to harrison street. traveling over to 19th. at that point it will go to lakeside drive and continue at the convention center for the big rally. in preparation for the parade several other streets will be blocked throughout downtown oakland and around lake merritt . and ramps from the nimitz . it is slow on the nimitz freeway . take 580 instead of the nimitz . if you take bart remember the schedule will be off today. if you are trying to figure out when the trains arrived, they will not be sticking to the schedule. if you want a complete list of all of the closures in place, go to our website.

>> a perfect day for a parade. we turn the cameras skyward. beautiful conditions. this is looking back across the bay with the golden gate bridge. it will be nice along the parade route or enjoying the speeches near lake merritt . at 10:00 when the parade kicks off we will be in the mid 60s. low 70s by that time the parade and's and the speeches begin. will be a slight breeze coming from the ocean. perfect forecast. let's talk about the rest of the day. temperatures are warming up. we have replaced the inland valleys with 60s. the delta is coming to mid-70s right now. well on their way to low 90s. a lot of the east bay valleys will be seeing temperatures around their. 88 four livermore. 90 in concord. we will expect similar ranges

in the north bay with upper 80s to near 90 degrees temperatures. along the waterfront mid-70s and in the south bay temperatures will be in the low 80s this afternoon. it only gets warmer. we have high pressure that is keeping the clouds away. we will be cooking under the sun. friday, saturday and sunday the national weather service has issued an excessive heat watch which will turn into an advisory or warning. every area in red will be under this watch. you can see it is the entire bay area. the only relief will be at the coast where temperatures will be in the upper 60s to low 70s. this is what we want to try and get the word out about. the long stretch of potentially dangerous heat we have ahead of us especially for the inland east bay valleys, delta and some of our north bay valleys. we will be any 100 degree range

by saturday. we may not get out until the middle of next week. it will be a long stretch of hot weather. bart is the way to go. do not bother with the freeways. the nimitz is packed . bart said they are sending extra trains to the east bay to pleasant hill in response to the large crowds they are seeing. the trains will make the loop. they are asking people to take off their backpacks. it adds to the crowd. they are asking you place it below or on the floor. the nimitz is crowded. it is a mess. bumper-to-bumper. 41 minutes. oak street, broadway, jackson ramps are blocked off until the

parade. take 580 instead. 60 minutes for the drive-in. nimitz is not the place to be . about 10 minutes away from the start of the parade. >> let's go live to mark. >> reporter: let's give you the ground street view from the center of 19th and harrison. the fans are lined up. thousands upon thousands of people. all here to celebrate the

warriors . somewhere here as early as 6:00. summer camping out with their merchandise and chairs and gear. something to get signed when the floats pass by hoping for the possibility the players will come out and interact with the fans. it is an incredible scene for the warriors championship parade . >> you are right by a lot of security. it looks like dogs and special units. >> reporter: safety is the first priority when you have a massive event like this. you have security here early and they may try to block off the areas. >> another thing, you are not supposed to have folding chairs. you cannot bring anything with a hard side.
