(tiffany) the two people killed were israeli police officers who were attacked near a major jerusalem shrine. and israel's police chief says the attackers were palestinian. this morning we have new video of the attack. you can see what happens when police arrive and start shooting at the attackers. we have stopped the video before one person is shot and killed. this happened in jerusalem's old city near the lion's gate. that's next to an area israelis call the temple mount and palestinians call the noble sanctuary. the compound is the holiest site in judaism and the third- holiest in islam. and a family member says israeli police have detained the top muslim cleric in jerusalem following this morning's attack. israeli police say these are the weapons that were used to carry out the attack this morning. the site has been a flashpoint for violence in the past, with friction there sparking major

(mark) happening now... president trump is on his way back to the u-s after his visit to paris. earlier this morning, the president and first lady enjoyed the bastille day parade in paris with the french president. this is video of the two world leaders and their spouses at the parade. bastille day celebrates the french independence. the two men sat together and enjoyed the parade. this comes a day after president trump held a joint news conference with the french president. that's when president trump was asked about his son's meeting with a russian lawyer during the presidential campaign. (mark) the president also complimented the city of paris and said this would not be his last visit to the city while in office. (mark) and today marks one

year since the bastille day truck attack in france. 84-people were killed ad hundreds more hurt when a man used a 20-ton truck to plow down hundreds of people celebrating the holiday in nice. the driver was shot and killed by police after driving down the crowded promenade for almost a mile. isis claimed responsibility. a 20-year- old u-c berkeley student was killed in that attack. ( darya ) a man is behind bars accused of molesting a child at a laundromat in the east bay. 60-year-old jose chavez was arrested in concord. police say he was caught on camera assaulting the little girl at the "coin laundry" on monument boulevard. the girl was there doing laundry with her grandmother. she didn't tell her what happened until after they left, and the grandmother then called police.

as close to the little girl as he could." >( darya ) an officer spotted chavez at a nearby shopping center and arrested him. he's being held on a one dollars bond. (mark) today the murder trial begins for the man accused of killing kate steinle in san francisco. 54-year-old juan francisco lopez-sanchez has pleaded not guilty to second degree murder. he was in the country illegally after previously being deported to mexico five times. his attorney says that lopez-sanchez áaccidentially fired a gun he found under a bench on pier 14. steinle was killed as she stood with her dad taking pictures near the bay bridge. president trump has repeatedly used the steinle case as a way to get congress to pass immigration reform. (mark) the man accused of a mass killing at an oakland university will be sentenced today. 48-year-old one goh killed seven people at oikos university in 2012. prosecutors say he dropped out of oikos several months before the shooting and wanted his tuition refunded. he pleaded "no contest" back in may. goh's plea deal calls for him to spend the rest of his life in prison

without the possibility of parole. his sentencing is at 9:30 this morning in oakland. (darya) breaking overnight... a big win for opponents of president trump's new travel ban. a u-s district court judge in hawaii issued a ruling overnight that expands the list of relatives now allowed in the u-s from six muslim majority countries. the ruling now allows grandchildren... brothers and sisters-in-law... aunts... uncles... nieces... nephews and cousins of legal u-s citizens to enter the u-s. the supreme court had originally ruled that the administration could employ the travel ban against foreigners from six predominately muslim countries. the court ruled that only people with a 'bona fide' relationship to a person in the u-s could enter the country. the trump administration can now appeal the decision to the 9th circuit court of appeals in san francisco if it wants to try to get the order lifted. ( darya ) in the south bay... investigators say a 60-year-old woman who was shot

in her home by her roommate has died. the shooting happened yesterday morning at a home in saratoga. deputies say the suspect called 9-1-1...saying he shot his roommate. when deputies arrived, they arrested the man. police have not yet released the names of the shooter or the victim. the shooting remains under (mark) in the east bay... a woman accused of killing her parents has been charged with murder. prosecutors filed the charges against 50-year-old menique lashon. police say lashon stabbed her 73-year-old father and 67-year-old mother in a home in pittsburg last friday. investigators say she tried to stage her parents death but confessed to their killings a day later. she is being held at the contra costa county jail without bail. ( mark ) this morning investigators are trying to figure out if car parts found on montara state beach are connected to a missing man. crews have been searching for 22-year-old richard moss who was last seen in may. police say moss left his home in tiburon in the early morning hours to go to work

but he never showed up. the car parts were discovered yesterday. moss' family is trying to raise money to offer a reward for information about his whereabouts. (darya) take a look at this... that's a lamborgini on fire at a gas station in redwood city. a kron 4 viewer sent us this video. it happened around 8-30 last night. you can see how intense the fire was. we are told the driver got out of the car then a fire started under the car. the driver was not injured. ( darya ) in the east bay... richmond becomes the latest city to establish a safe exchange zone for people buying and selling things

online. this comes after nine people were recently robbed in richmond while making exchanges. richmond police have designated part of the police station parking lot as a community exchange zone. police say the area has surveillance cameras and can be seen from the front door of the station. danville and fremont have set up similar exchange zones. (mark) today is the 4th and final day of a beach closure in santa cruz after a kayaker was attacked by a shark. but the closure has not kept surfers out of the water. the city of santa cruz has even threatened to issue 200 dollar fines for anyone caught in the water. some surfers say there is nothing that will keep them out and that sharks being in the water is normal. (mark) signs have been posted across the beach warning people of shark sightings. so far no fines have been issued to any surfers. (mark) still ahead on the

(mark) san jose police are looking for the people who brutally attacked a 7-11 clerk. police say this is one of the attackers. the assault and robbery happened in february at the 7-11 on white road. police just now releasing the surveillance image. the clerk ran outside to chase down one of the thieves and that's when the clerk was beaten and then stabbed. then the attackers ran back into the store and grabbed other items before taking off. the clerk suffered major injuries but has recovered. ( mark ) an air-b-n-b host who canceled a reservation over a woman's race is fined five-thousand dollars. the state's department of fair employment and housing said yesterday that the host agreed to apologize. a woman reserved a home in big bear

( darya ) new this morning... mills college in oakland is laying off tenured professors rather than allowing men into the all- women's college. the college's president says instead of admitting male undergraduates to boost admission and raise money, the school trustees voted to fire five tenured professors. the college says it does not anticipate any future firings. it is one of 36 women's colleges remaining in the country. police arrested two 13-year-old boys in connection with a series of school burglaries. one of the burglaries happened at washington elementary school. four other schools were also hit. police say i- pads and macbook laptops were taken in all of the cases. a fingerprint at one of the crime scenes led detectives to a 13 year old boy who used to attended washington elementary. then a second 13-year- old was arrested. police say there may be more thieves and several stolen items are still outstanding. (mark) millions of people who rely on social security are projected to receive their biggest payment increase in years this january. the average recipient is expected to receive about 28-dollars more a month. officials warned that unless congress acts, the trust funds that support social security are estimated to run dry in 20-34. medicare's trust fund for inpatient care is projected to be depleted in 2029. if congress allows either fund to be depleted, millions of americans living on fixed incomes would face steep cuts in benefits. the same address as a massage spa says she is constantly harassed by potential customers. the woman began getting mysterious visitors ever since she moved into the home in new jersey two years ago. after doing some research online, she discovered that her home has the same address of a message spa a little more than two miles away. police say that spa has a history of prostitution arrests. the woman says that the men who come to her door seem very eager to start their appointments, and one even became aggressive. a new law cracking down on massage businesses will stop the men from showing up at her home. (mark) a tourist from new zealand is killed from the jet blast of a plane taking off of the island of st. maarten in the caribbean. this is video showing how close planes get to the ground during take off and landing at princess juliana international airport. tourists often gather to watch the planes. police say the 57-year-old woman was was knocked into a wall as she tried to cling to a fence to feel the blast there are warning signs not to stand in the path of the jet blast, but many people ignore them. several people have been injured from jet blasts in the past. (mark) take a look at this slimy mess on an oregon freeway. a truck hauling over 75-hundred pounds of live hagfish overturns. hagfish are also known as "slime eels". the flatbed from the truck detached and

flew across the highway... causing a chain reaction crash. you can see the damaged cars covered in the gooey mess. the fire department had to use a bulldozer to clear the eels from from the highway. the slime eels were going to be shipped to korea where they are considered a delicacy. ( tiffany @ flash ) a person close to the case says 20-year-old cosmo dinardo killed the men because he felt cheated or threatened during a drug deal. two of the men were 19-years-old and the other two were 21 and 22- years-old. police arrested dinardo on wednesday after he tried sell a car that belonged to one of the missing men.

dinardo confessed to killing the men and told investigators where their bodies were. ( tiffany @ flash ) the men's bodies have been found on dinardo family's farm about an hour outside of philadelphia. ( darya ) bart's new police chief is addressing complaints about the department's transparency on crime happening on trains and at stations. chief carlos rojas has been on the job about a month and a half. he has put an end to emailing crime logs out to the public and media. instead the agency makes that information available on a website. but some people say that the webiste does not give enough of a description of crimes commited. rojas says he is doing his best to be transparent. he says he is also in the process of hiring more officers to curb crime which he says is

( darya ) in the south bay... investigators say a 60-year-old woman who was shot in her home by her roommate has died. the shooting happened yesterday morning at a home in saratoga. deputies say the suspect called 9-1-1...saying he shot his roommate. when deputies arrived, they arrested the man. police have not yet released the names of the shooter or the victim. the shooting remains under investigation. (mark) in the east bay... a woman accused of killing her parents has been charged with murder. prosecutors filed the charges against 50-year-old menique lashon. police say lashon stabbed her 73-year-old father and 67-year-old mother in a home in pittsburg last friday. investigators say she tried to stage her parents death but confessed to their

( mark ) this morning investigators are trying to figure out if car parts found on montara state beach are connected to a missing man. crews have been searching for 22-year-old richard moss who was last seen in may. police say moss left his home in tiburon in the early morning hours to go to work but he never showed up. the car parts were discovered yesterday. moss' family is trying to raise money to offer a reward for information about his whereabouts. (mark) today the murder trial begins for the man accused of killing kate steinle in san francisco. 54-year-old juan francisco lopez-sanchez has pleaded not guilty to second degree murder. he was in the country illegally after previously being deported to mexico five times. his attorney says that lopez-sanchez áaccidentially fired a gun he found under a bench on pier 14. steinle was killed as she stood with her dad taking pictures near the bay bridge. president trump has repeatedly used the steinle case as a way to get congress to pass immigration reform. (mark) the man accused of a mass killing at an oakland university will be sentenced today. 48-year-old one goh killed seven people at oikos university in 2012. prosecutors say he dropped out

of oikos several months before the shooting and wanted his tuition refunded. he pleaded "no contest" back in may. goh's plea deal calls for him to spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole. his sentencing is at 9:30 this morning in oakland. ( darya ) in the east bay... richmond becomes the latest city to establish a safe exchange zone for people buying and selling things online. this comes after nine people were recently robbed in richmond while making exchanges. richmond police have designated part of the police station parking lot as a community exchange zone. police say the area has surveillance cameras and can be seen from the front door of the station. danville and fremont have set up similar exchange zones. (mark) today is the 4th and final day of a beach closure in santa cruz after a kayaker was attacked by a shark. but the closure has not kept surfers out of the water. the city of santa cruz has even threatened to issue 200 dollar fines for anyone caught in the water. some surfers say there is nothing that will keep them out and that sharks being in

there has been another twist in the meeting the president's son had with a russian lawyer. a russian lobbyist says he also attended the june 2016 meeting with donald trump junior. the meeting was a russian government effort to hand over compromising material on hillary clinton. the man's disclosure marks another shift in the account of the meeting. donald trump jr. did not disclose the man's presence in statements and emails he released on the meeting earlier this week. there are also reports that the lobbyist is a former soviet spy who many in the u-s intelligence community believe is still connected to russian intelligence. this story is breaking and we will continue to follow any new developments morning. robbery suspect was arrested after officers found him hiding inside a couch at his hoe in southern california. investigators say francisco hernandez was caught on surveillance video june 30 entering a bank, pulling a semi-automatic handgun from a large envelope and demanding money.( darya ) the 39-year-old was identified as a suspect and a search warrant was served wednesday at his home in ventura. swat officers entered the house and with the help of a police dog located hernandez, who was found inside a couch that had been modified. ( mark ) a man and his family in sacramento county had their home vandalized and neighbors are now calling it a hate crime. the family is originally from india. five people were caught on camera throwing rocks at their home. they ended up breaking the front window of their house. the sheriff's department is not ready to call this a hate crime, but they are calling it an act of vandalism. deputies are now focusing on identifying the five people seen in the video. ( darya ) the u-s postal service has stopped delivering mail to a neighborhood in north east los angeles due to crime. u-s-p-s officials say a letter carrier was nearly hit by bullets in the neighrbohood last month. no one was hurt in the shooting. now people living in part of that neighborhood must walk about a mile to pick up their mail. there is no timetable for when mail carriers will go

(tiffany) the sinkhole is 250 feet wide and has fully taken over a road. take a look at just how big it is. all of the asphalt from the road has fallen into the hole. this hole just opened a few hours ago, in land o' lakes, florida. officials say it started as a depression that formed under a boat. and within an hour it grew and swallowed one home and

(darya) breaking overnight... a big win for opponents of president trump's new travel ban. a u-s district court judge in hawaii issued a ruling overnight that expands the list of relatives now allowed in the u-s from six muslim majority countries. the ruling now allows grandchildren... brothers and sisters-in-law... aunts... uncles... nieces... nephews and cousins of legal u-s citizens to enter the u-s. the supreme court had originally ruled that the administration could employ the travel ban against foreigners from six predominately muslim countries. the court ruled that only people with a 'bona fide' relationship to a person in the u-s could enter the country. the trump administration can now appeal the decision to the 9th circuit court of appeals in san francisco if it wants to try to get the order lifted. ( darya ) a local news helicopter is being credited with saving a little girl who was in a car when that car was stolen.( mark ) this happened in kansas city, kansas. police say the 3-year-old girl was asleep in her dad's car-- he went inside a gas station and that's when two people stole the car with the girl inside. they later abandoned the car on a road... with the child still in it. a local news helicopter pilot spotted the car with the little girl in the back seat. he called police and his camera was rolling-- as the little girl ran toward an approaching sheriff's deputy. she was taken to the hospital but is said to be okay. she was reunited

looking for the people who brutally attacked a 7-11 clerk. police say this is one of the attackers. the assault and robbery happened in february at the 7-11 on white road. police just now releasing the surveillance image. the clerk ran outside to chase down one of the thieves and that's when the clerk was beaten and then stabbed. then the attackers ran back into the store and grabbed other items before taking off. the clerk suffered major injuries but has recovered. crews have been searching for 22-year-old richard moss who was last seen in may. police say moss left his home in tiburon in the early morning hours to go to work but he never showed up. the car parts were discovered yesterday. moss' family is trying to raise money to offer a reward for information about his whereabouts. (darya) the car maker says a battery sensor can short out and possibly start a fire. honda accords made from 2013 to 2016 are impacted by the recall. (mark) four engine fires have been reported, but no one has been injured. all the fires happened in states where salt is used to clear the roads. honda says salt getting into the engine can cause an electrical short. police have designated part of the police station parking lot as a community exchange zone. police say the area has surveillance cameras and can be seen from the front door of the station. danville and fremont have set up similar exchange zones. (mark) today is the 4th and final day of a beach closure in santa cruz after a kayaker was attacked by a shark. but the closure has not kept surfers out of the water. the city of santa cruz has even threatened to issue 200 dollar fines for anyone caught in the water. some surfers say there is nothing that will keep them out and that sharks being in the water is normal. (mark) signs have been posted across the beach warning people of shark sightings. so far no fines have been issued to any surfers.
