(grant) there was reckless driving in the east bay...and the south bay... first...san jose... last night around 10...officers closed in on people location on hostetter road near 680. a san jose officer was hit during a stop attempt...the officer was not serously hurt. the driver took off in a marron or brown 2-door nissan 240 s-x-e. four people were arrested there. now to the east bay... these are pictures from saturday afternoon... the sideshow started around 1:00 pm saturday with about 200 motorcycles on 880 in oakland. c-h-p chased several motorcycles into the castro valley area. officers arrested four motorcyclists. another biker was found and arrested in redwood city. they're facing charges of

(vicki) the threat of violence on school campuses has been on the rise across the country, and the bay area is no exception.(steve) in fact one north bay school is dealing with its second campus shooting threat is just over a month. kron 4's dan kerman is live tonight at redwood high school in larkspur with details dan about 11-30 monday morning, graffiti threatening a halloween day shooting was discovered in a bathroom at redwood high school in larkspur.sotthis is the second threat of a shooting on campus is a month or soredwood high principal david sondheim says this could be a copycat, and there's no reason to believe the threat is credible. after

going to happen (steve) thank you dan. now last month --- police arrested a teenage boy in connection with a bomb threat at redwood high. investigators accused the 17 year old senior student in that case. police say he masked his phone number then called the school and left a message that there would be a bomb at the school day day. the student was booked on felony charges of making terrorist threats. (vicki) a teenage girl who was severely burned in the fire that ripped through mendocino county three weeks ago has died. her death raises the number of those killed in the state's wildfires to 43. according to the "santa rosa press democrat"... 17-year-old kressa shepherd died last night. doctors performed a cat scan... and determined she was brain-dead. kressa's brother -- 14-year-old kai shepherd -- was among the youngest who died in the

wildfires. the shepherd family tried escaping the flames in their car... but their car caught fire. (steve) bay area lawmakers will introduce a bill barring electric utilities at fault in wildfires --- from passing the cost onto customers. the proposal comes on the heels of the devastating north bay firestorm. the local senators behind the bill say it would prevent electric utilities found culpable from passing costs of claims not covered by well as fines or penalties they might face. p-g-and e responded to the proposal saying "the investigations into these fire are still ongoing" and that they are cooperating with both c-p-u-c and calfire's reviews. the bill will be introduced in january (steve) a young father is critically injured in a hit and run... now san pablo police are searching for the driver.(vicki) the collision happened on emeric avenue not far from rumrill boulevard. kron4's maureen kelly talked to the family friend the young man was visiting right before he was

sent flying by the impact. robert armstong had just finished sunday dinner a little after 7pm october 22nd at this house on emeric avenue. the accident happened just after he'd walking back across the street after escorting his girlfriend and their two three year old twins to their car.i seen people running toward him and when i got there i thought maybe he was gone that's what i thought that's what i thought the way his body was mangled really i thought that was the end of him.charlotte sherman says the 22 year old flew up 15 feet.which is higher than her house.and he came down hard, two door down. he's listed in critical by stable condition at john muir hospital.he suffered some severe head trauma as well as injuries to visit as well as injuries to his upper torsosan pablo police say the suspect vehcile was last headed east on emeric. year old jonathon bedolla. east palo alto police, where jonathon lives, say that despite numerous calls and text messages sent by his worried family, jonathon has not responded. a ping from his cell phone placed the missing teen near the menlo park caltrain station on thursday, october 26, where police say he may have gotten onto a train. he was last seen about 5 o'clock that same day, leaving his job at stanford shopping center in palo alto. jonathon attends serra high school in san mateo where the administration sent out a statement expressing it's deep concern for jonathon's well being. the statement asks that"all of you pray for jonny's well being and safe return" and to "pray for him to come home safely right away." here is east palo alto police sergeant clint simmont.sgt. clint simmont/east palo alto police ".....after speaking with his family and friends, this is just not characteristic of

a tough month for a southern california family.((steve))a husband and wife who survived the mass shooting in las vegas...were killed in a crash over the weekend.on october 16th, a car driven by dennis and lorraine carver slammed into a metal gate in riverside county..and burst into flames. back on october first..the

tomorrow would be a good time to fill up your gas tank. wednesday is when that statewide gas tax goes into effect, which means you'll begin paying 12 cents more per gallon of gas, and 20 cents more per gallon of diesel. (steve) kron four's spencer blake is live in the newsroom tonight. he spoke with caltrans spencer, what exactly are some of the road improvement projects that money will be paying for? remember, there will be projects all around the state getting money from this tax, but there are some major spots near the bay bridge, and on i-80 in the east baythat will be getting underway. filling up is about to get more expensive, thanks to senate bill one, which the state legislature passed back in april. "that's a pretty sizable percentage to the dollar."starting wednesday you'll pay 12 cents more per

gallon of gas.that will add up to about 58 billion dollars over the next ten years and that money will be used for transportation projects. "there's a very long list of projects that either wouldn't have been funded or were waiting for funding several years down the line, and we can do it a lot earlier now." bob haus with caltrans explained some of the bay- area-specific projects that are happening because of the gas tax.128 million dollars will go towards raising the height of overpasses in the macarthur maze.there will also be road preservation on i-80 between the carquinez bridge and highway four."to me, it just seems like they put in more carpool lanes to make money and it's not really helping anyone get to work any faster."but that's not the case with these says it's not ájust roads that will be getting more funds from your fill-ups."that funding is going to go to what we call active transportation, which is pedestrians, bicycling, other non-motorized forms of traffic. so all forms of transportation are going to

as karma dickerson reports ...the east bay owner says a sitter hired to watch her dog tiny...lost him. the first pet thatús all yours... for katie rubin that time came six months ago when she rescued golden brown chihuahua mix...named tiny.- funny and peppy but also mellow, tiny, was, is, was all those thingsitús hard for katie to know what tense to use when talking about tiny... she has no way of knowing whatús happened to her since she says a sacramento dog sitter lost her on october 3. katie hired the sitter using a website that connects pet owners with dog sitters, walkers, and other services.she called and said said...for about an hour now weúve been looking for tiny katie says sheús spent the last four weeks looking for tiny... hanging up flyers... she even hired a pet detective. and as fruitless as her search has been - katie says sheús even more frustrated with rover-dot-com.she tells us sheúd used áthat sitter several times... but admits there was a red flag every

us consumer spending posts largest gain

since 2009 . . . u.s. consumer spending recorded its biggest increase in more than eight years in september, likely as households in texas and florida replaced flood-damaged motor vehicles. the commerce department said consumer spending, which accounts for more than two- thirds of u.s. economic activity, jumped 1.0 percent last month. personal income rose 0.4 percent last month after increasing 0.2 percent in's how much people your age are spending on halloween. between candy, costumes and

to scare up a record nine- point-one billion dollars in halloween sales this year. (steve) that's according to a survey released by the national retail federation... people clearly love halloween...and are expected to spend three-point-four billion dollars on costumes. two-point-seven billion dollars will go to candy sales. decorations could bring in two-point-seven billion.... on average...americans are set to spend about 86 dollars each.. if the survey is correct...20-17 sales will be an more than 8 percent higher than last year... (grant) a brazen robbery in the north bay... and it was all caught on camera... a family says thieves stole their halloween decorations in the middle of the night... right in front of their home... (vicki) and with halloween only a couple of hours away....the family is afraid

their decorations won't be back in time...(grant) thanks for joining us i'm grant lodes...(vicki) and i'm vicki liviakis.... this latest theft happening at a home on celilia way in tiburon. that's where we find kron 4's charles clifford... he is live for us tonight in tiburon with details. charles....this isn't the first time we've seen a halloween grinch.... yes, last week we reported on decorations being stolen in san francisco along lake street. a family here in tiburon saw that story, called us and said hey, we had stuff stolen too! but the good news here is that they caught the their on surveillance video. around midnight on monday october 23rd, this car pulled up in front of a home along celilia way in tiburon. the driver, gets out and inspects the house from the sidewalk. after a few minutes he picks up two skeleton arm decorations that were sitting on the front lawn and puts them in his car. he then walks up the driveway and
