(darya) breaking overnight. a safeway employee is in critical condition after he was stabbed in the inner richmond neighborhood of san francisco. it happened earlier this morning at the safeway store near 7th and cabrillo. police say the employee tried to stop a man from shoplifting. during the confrontation ... the man's dog attacked the safeway employee and the thief stabbed the employee in the back.the thief ran away ... but was

( james ) police have arrested a teen for shooting at people... including an infant near a 7- eleven store in mountain view. it happened sunday night at the 7-eleven on latham street. police say it started as an argument between a 17-year-old boy and a man inside the store. when the argument moved outside... the teen pulled a gun. the man got into a car with a woman and an infant and as the drove away the teen opened fire.

nobody was injured. the teen has been booked into juvenile hall. ( james ) happening today... prosecutors will call more witnesses in the trial for the man accused of killing kate steinle in san francisco. a veteran police inspector testified yesterday that the bullet that hit steinle ricocheted off the ground first. attorneys for the suspect... jose garcia zarate argue that their client found the gun and the shooting was accidental. the trial is expected to last another three weeks. ( darya ) police are cracking down on sideshows in the south bay. this comes after an officer was injured in a sideshow in san jose over the weekend. people who live on hostetter road near interstate 680... where the recent side show happened...say reckless driving has been a problem for years. last night c-h-p officers from morgan hill and san jose police officers increased their presence in different locations through out the city. it is the latest effort to crack down on illegal sideshows. the officer injured in the side show over the weekend is expected to be okay.

( darya ) and the c-h-p has released these pictures of a motorcycle sideshow early saturday afternoon with about 200 motorcycles on highway 880 in oakland. c-h-p chased several motorcycles into the castro valley area. officers followed them onto city streets where they arrested four motorcyclists. another biker was found and arrested in redwood city. the riders are facing reckless driving charges. ( james ) this morning we now know the name of the man killed in discovery bay over the weekend. contra costa county sheriff's deputies say that bradley machugh was killed over an argument about cars driving too fast in a residential neighborhood. the shooting happened on sunday morning. now police have released pictures of the cars they are looking for in connection to the murder. they are described as as a red mistubushi eclipse with a spoiler in the back and a grey ford mustang with dark colored rims. ( james ) people in santa rosa are questioning how they should clean up the mess left behind from the north bay wildfires sonoma county has not yet removed any debris. that's because the environmental protection agency has to first check damaged property for hazardous materials. after it is checked...people have two options. they can either opt in to have an army corps of engineers clean it for them or opt out to hire an independent contractor to get rid of it. the board of supervisors is set to consider a set of standards for the process today. ( darya ) happening today... the berkeley city council will meet to discuss a new use of force policy for the berkeley police department. a city councilwoman has proposed expanding the department's definition of use of force to include all incidents were there is a physical confrontation. right now the police are only required to file reports for incidents when somebody is hurt or a weapon is used.

(darya) a man who fled from fremont police over the weekend during a standoff... is now in custody. police say thomas beltran turned himself in yesterday. officers were called out to a home in the city's glenmoor neighborhood on saturday morning. they say beltran's girlfriend reported... he had attacked her. a swat team arrived a short time later...and after nine hours they went inside only to discover beltran was gone. ( james ) police are searching for a man who stole halloween decorations from a family in tiburon. the theft happened outside a home on celilia way. the whole thing was caught on surveillance video. the thief is seen taking two skeleton decorations from the front yard and putting them in his car. the thief then steals a full-size zombie right next to the front door. the crook has not been caught. today... conservative speaker milo yiannopoulos is back in california. officials at cal state fullerton are stepping up security ahead of his scheduled speech tonight. earlier this year... there were violent clashes just before yiannopoulos was scheduled to appear at u-c berkley. that event was cancelled. more than 5- thousand students at cal state fullerton signed a petition asking the school to block his appearance. ( darya ) the new state tax that raises gas 12 cents per gallon goes into effect tomorrow. the 12 cents will help generate more than 50 billion dollars in the next ten years. the money is expected to be split between state and local projects. one of the ones in the bay area is a new auxillary lane on highway 87 in the south bay. the tax will also help pay for pavement preservation on i-80 between the carquinez bridge and highway four.

palo alto are looking for a missing teen this morning... this is a recent photo of 17-year-old jonathon bedolla... he was last seen last thursday... leaving his job at stanford shopping center in palo alto. jonathon lives in east palo alto. he attends serra high school in san mateo. caltrain, bart and other police agencies are helping with the case and jonathon's family has reached out for help on social media in the hope that someone will come forward with information that will help bring him home. ( darya ) san jose police have arrested a serial robbery suspect. now they are looking for more possible victims. 21-year-old lawrence carter is accused at least seven robberies that targeted elderly east indian and asian women. investigators say he would yank gold chains off their necks. police have

now know the name of the man killed in discovery bay over the weekend. contra costa county sheriff's deputies say that bradley machugh was killed over an argument about cars driving too fast in a residential neighborhood. the shooting happened on sunday morning. now police have released pictures of the cars they are looking for in connection to the murder. they are described as as a red mistubushi eclipse with a spoiler in the back and a grey ford mustang with dark colored rims. we are nearing full containment in the north bay wildfires. firefighters say they have a complete handle on the nuns fire. the atlas fire is also 100 percent contained. the tubbs fire and the pocket are both 99 percent contained this morning. ( darya ) happening today... the berkeley city council will meet to discuss a new use of force policy for the berkeley police department. a city councilwoman has proposed expanding the department's definition of use of force to include all incidents were there is a physical confrontation. right now the police are only required to file reports for incidents when somebody is hurt or a weapon is used.
