pm, rohnert park officers heard several shots being fired from a gun in front of the main public safety station. as officers went outside to investigate the shots, they located a male suspect in the plaza park holding a firearm asking to be shot by the police.officers immediately called for a crisis negotiator to respond to the scene. while the negotiator was responding, officers kept communicating with the male suspect. the suspect repeatedly told the officers to "kill me". officers continued to talk to the suspect for approximately one hour when the suspect started advancing on the officers. officers tried to move away from the suspect in order to continue their conversation.the suspect began walking towards an officer while disregarding all commands to drop his weapon. the officer ultimately fired his weapon at the suspect due to fearing for his life.as

( james ) the trump administration is accepting daca renewal applications from dreamers. the announcement comes just days after a federal judge -- here in california -- temporarily blocked efforts to end the daca program. president trump has criticized the judicial process... saying the ruling could still be overturned. officials say renewals will be processed for now. but new applications for daca protections will not be accepted ( james ) a flight from s-f-o -- heading to paris -- had to be diverted to washington d.c. a person on united flight 990 tweeted that the pilot said there was a passenger disturbance and they would be diverting the plane. it turns out that a person was having a medical emergency. it is not clear how that person is doing this morning. after a shooting in vallejo. now... police are looking for the shooter. it happened around 2:30 saturday afternoon... on westwood street near hogan middle school. police found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. he was treated at the scene... but later died at the hospital. police are not releasing the victim's name -- and they do not have a detailed description of ( darya ) a man wearing a hospital gown was arrested after running on to highway 101. it happened near the cesar chavez street off-ramp in san francisco. c-h-p had to shut down parts of the freeway...causing heavy traffic in the area. it is now back open. the man was taken to s-f general hospital for medical evaluation. ( james ) happening now... a high surf advisory is in effect through tuesday. the national weather service issued the warning for coastal areas throughout the bay area. strong rip currents and sneaker waves are expected. swimmers and surfers are advised to stay out of the water. ( darya ) the health department in alameda county is trying to figure out what caused an elementary school student to die. the case involves a student in dublin who went to kolb elementary school. health officials do not believe that other people at the school were exposed to whatever disease killed the child. his name has not been released. grief counselors will be available for students when they return to school tomorrow. ( darya ) another health warning this morning... the norovirus is making its way through a san francisco elementary school.( james ) dozens of students have gotten sick so far. kron 4's spencer blake has the details. everett taft is a five-year-old kindergartner at mckinley elementary in san francisco.friday morning, he came down with norovirus."what part of you hurt?my belly."he was one of 53 students and four teachers to catch the nasty bug since the new semester began.he missed school the day before the long martin luther king weekend. ( james ) today is martin luther king day and over the weekend people celebrated all around the bay area. in marin city, gospel singers had a dramatic representation of the civil rights leader. actor felix justice did a portrayel of dr. king's speeches. while san francisco native danny glover did excerpts of noted activist civil rights poet langsten hughes.

martin luther king coalition organized the event. additional celebrations are planned for today. ( darya ) happening now... emeryville police are looking for two people they say rammed police cars. it happened friday night at the home depot near interstate 5- 80. store security called police after spotting suspicous activity in the parking lot. when the officers tried to arrest two people for weapons violations, they say the two drove off hitting two police cars.

( darya ) police have arrested a san francisco man suspected of trying to sexually assault a woman in walnut creek. jeremy mickens was arrested outside a walnut creek safeway. he is accused of trying to assault a woman last thursday on iron horse trail near newell avenue and south broadway. investigators say... he áintended to sexually assault the victim but suddenly ran away. the victim was injured but is expected to be okay.

emeryville police are looking for two people they say rammed police cars. it happened friday night at the home depot near interstate 5- 80. store security called police after spotting suspicous activity in the parking lot. when the officers tried to arrest two people for weapons violations, they say the two drove off hitting two police cars. no officers were injured. ( darya ) in the east bay... activists are camping on oakland mayor libby schaaf's lawn to protest the city's housing problem. this comes after mayor schaaf asked the community to offer up their homes to solve the housing crisis. protesters say the mayor is making the issue worse and she needs to close landlord loopholes. they say 27-hundred people sleep on oakland's streets every night. they are also demanding

(james) three months after the north bay wildfires, a marin county man is building his case after he was arrested for going into a barricaded evacuation zone. the flames were long gone when evan neumann and his brother went in ... and they admit they did not have permission from police to enter. kron four's spencer blake reports from santa rosa. when the flames of the north bay wildfires died down, mark and evan neumann waited until they thought it was safe to go back to their mom's house - mark's childhood home...the place where their dad died in 2011."we wanted to figure out what was there. we wanted to figure out what was left. you know, what could be saved of my dad's things, my mom's things."they especially wanted to beat the rain that was on its way, so about a week after the fires began, they went around a police barricade about a half mile from the home on lyon court.they hadn't

( darya ) police have arrested a san francisco man suspected of trying to sexually assault a woman in walnut creek. jeremy mickens was arrested outside a walnut creek safeway. he is accused of trying to assault a woman last thursday on iron horse trail near newell avenue and south broadway. investigators say... he áintended to sexually assault the victim but suddenly ran away. the victim was injured but is expected to be okay. mickens has been booked on multiple felony charges. ( darya ) an argument over a lost cell phone turned into an all-out brawl in a newark pizza parlor. it happened at "john's incredible pizza company." two large groups of people began shouting at

drive time less than 30 min from 37 to the toll plaza. richmond bridge drive less than 20 min from the toll to 101 ( james ) take a look at this... a santa ana man managed to crash his car into the second floor of a building. police say the driver was speeding and hit a center median. that made the car go airborne ... and it ended up in a dentist's office. two people were inside the car. they suffered only minor injuries and were able to get out safety. authorities say alcohol may have played a role in the crash.
