liviakis... it's lyme disease awareness month and the c-d-c says the number of mosquito, tick and flea bite cases has tripled since 2004. and they are reminding families to be cautious when outside.(grant) kron 4's ali reid joins us live...ali what sorts of absolutely ... but now as it starts to get warmer and people are wearing less clothing, it's easier for them to get infected with lyme disease.there are different types of ticks, and some are more worrysome than others. federal health officials say the number of people getting diseases transmitted by mosquito, tick and flea bites have tripled in recent years. so it's important to wear bug repellant when spending time outside.lia gaertner, who now works on the science committee of the bay area lyme foundation, was infected with lyme disease years ago while in new york state. it was misdiagnosed by a cardiologist for 10 years and eventually spread to her heart. she got

the south bay, san jose police announced this week that they have arrested 16 people in connection with a series of robberies, carjackings and residential burglaries. the arrests have prompted many people who have recently been robbed to wonder if the same people are responsible. kron 4's charles clifford is live for us tonight in sunnyvale where he spoke to someone who had over- 20-thousand dollars worth of stuff stoeln.. charles? sunnyvale residents nick brown and tara clark say that this past weekend someone ransacked the storage lockers at thier apartment complex. tara estimates that the thieves made off with thousands of dollars worth of items like tvs and bikes. the thieves also stole nick's prized collection of musical instruments.soti noticed my saxaphone, my flute my guitar, on monday ,the san jose police department announced that they had arrested 16 people. . 11 juveniles and 5 adults. . who had allegedly been working as a gang to commit car jackings, robberies and residential burglaries all across the south bay.sotthese crimes accord all over the city of san jose. there were also

crimes that we arrested them for outside of the city of san jose and even santa clara county so they are very mobile. while they have no evidence that the gang robbed their appartment complex, tara and nick wonder if the same group of people could be responsible for the thefts.sotwe had a bunch of units that were all broken into seemigly at the same time. we also had a lot of larger items that would have been hard to carry with just one or two people so that seemed pretty consistent. police are investigating these thefts but so far there's no indictation from law enforcement, in sunnyvale or san jose, that the same gang is to blame.nick and tara just hope that who ever did this will be brought to justice and that their possessions will be returnedsoti would like to get these items back for one i would also like to see the people responsible brought to justice.sotwe are hoping to get some kind of resolution and really just find the items. anyone with info should call the sunnyvale police department. in the south bay, charels clifford kron 4 news.

(grant) we now know the name of the person shot and killed in albany sunday night. albany police found 23-year-old raphael fuentes-lee on masonic avenue, near the ohlone greenway. this is video from the scene. he was taken to a hospital where he died. police arrested kayla gibson-wytch of berkeley and thomas shima-mura of oakland. both have been booked into the alameda county jail for murder. (vicki) in morgan hill --- a police officer is on leave after accidentally firing his weapon. it happened around 7-30 sunday night. that's when police were called to the area of cochrane plaza. it was over reports of a stolen van. officers found the van...and a chase ensued. the chased ended less than 2 miles away then two teen girls got out of the van and walked toward officers. the 16 year old driver stayed in the car. officers directed the girls to the

uniformed petaluma police officers are carrying the anti-opioid medication -- narcan. it can reverse the effects of an overdose of heroin and other opiods including the synthetic drug fentanyl. in the past six months, police have responded to at least 21 overdose calls. in those cases -- four people died. one of them a 16-year-old boy who, last month, is believed to have been killed from takng xanax. his mother was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and child endangerment. kathleen stafford and her good friend heather elliott-hudson are trying to educate the community, especially young people, about the dangers of prescription drug abuse. in the past two months -- petaluma valley hospital says it has treated more prescription drug overdoses than it has in the previous five years. collapses... after catching fire. and at least one person was killed... it happned in in sao paulo, brazil... 160 firefighters worked on the fire... they say one person was asking for help on the last floor of the building that was already partially collapsed. at least 50 families lived in the building. no word on how many other people were killed or injured... the cause of the fire is under investigation....
