home and discovered what they are calling squalor. the fairfield police department says that during a search of this home on fieldstone court, they found 10 children ranging from 4 months to 12 years old living in horrible conditions.sot while inside officers found unsafe and unsanitary living conditiobnsall of the children were placed in protective custody. their mothere, 30-year-old ina rogers was arrested and charged with child neglect.upon further investigation, police determined that all of the children may have been physically and emotionally abused by their parents.soton may 11th, the children's father, 29-year-old fairfield resident jonathan allen, was arrested and booked into the solano county jail, he is facing 7 counts of felony torture and 9 counts of felony child abuse. the mother, rogers, was released on bail several weeks ago but she could now be facing additioanl charges as well.sotmonday afternoon, rogers told reporters that this is all a big misunderstanding and that allen is not to blame.sotthis is crazy. he's the one playing video games with them and i'm telling them to do chores.the children's father

(ken) it was a heinous crime that captivated parts of the bay area. and now the man accused of the 20-15 rape and murder of 8-year-old maddie middleton is pleading not guilty.(pam) the legal process is taking so long, in part , because of questions about how the suspect will be charged. grant lodes has been folling this case and joins us with the latest. (grant) today 18 year old adrian "a..j." gonzalez entered a plea of not guilty to charges of murder with a special allegation of lying in wait, kidnapping, lying in wait, kidnapping, forcible rape and lewd acts with a child. the child was 8-year-old madyson "maddy" middleton, whose body was found in a dumpster outside her home in santa cruz in july of 2015. gonzalez was fifteen when the crimes occurred but prosecutors want him tried as an adult. recently approved prop 57 however, says a judge, not district attorneys shoud make

(ken) a woman is behind bars tonight.. accused of trying to steal another woman's baby on mother's day. it happened yesterday as a mother was pushing her 2 month old baby in a stroller near natoma and 14th streets in san francisco's mission district. that's just 2 blocks away from the 16th street bart station. police say 23- year-old diamond harris of pleasant hill tried grabbing the baby from the stroller. they say witnesses stepped in and stopped her. harris left the scene with three other people-- but police eventually tracked her down and arrested her. man ... after one person was stabbed to death on the campus of sonoma state university. (ken) students are in shock... and worried about their safety. kron4's haaziq madyun tells us what led up to the killing. the person has been identified as 19-year-old tyler bratton of santa rosa. petaluma police allege that bratton stabbed to death a 26-year-old male victim inside a dorm here on the campus of sonoma state university shortly before 7:30pm sundaypetaluma police say although the incident happened on campus neither the suspect nor the stabbing victim are sonoma state students. both men appear to have been visiting a female student living in the dormthis student lives in the dorm next door. she

homeless residents living in a sprawling encampment behind the straw-flower village shopping center in half moon bay. authorities say the residents are being evicted because of concerns over the environmentally sensitive area. here's just some of the garbage accumulating along the section of the pilarcitos creek that the city wants to clear out of there. this encampment has been growing for decades.....and so has the enviromental damage to this area. the area...tucked behind the safeway at the strawflower village shopping center has also been a target for illegal dumping which compounds the problem.(sot) what do you have people living in close proximity to the

can see two women.. both in their 70's... walking down the street... when a man suddenly attacks them without warning. but in an instant, he is confronted by another man who witnessed the attack. he chases the suspect down and tackles him. the two women... were left dazed. one suffered a head injury... but has since recovered. the good samaritan's name has not been released. the suspect was arrested and charged with two counts of assault. (pam) a teen who was severely burned in a backyard fire pit accident... got a second chance to attend her prom in illinois.(ken) it's been two weeks since the explosion that caused serious burns over much of korryn bachner's face and hands. take a look. the 15-year- old's face is still covered in bandages. she was one of 12-young people injured. the serious injuries meant korryn would have to skip her high school prom, but her friends were having none of that. instead they brought the prom to her. her date decorated the basement... and friends stopped over before going to the actual dance.(sot)

korryn: "having all my friends support helps a lot... gets my mind off things."bob bachner/father: "there were tears. a lot of the adults that were watching were just taken aback by it. but no, it went over very well. everybody had a happy moment."(ken) korryn will be a junior next year. there will likely be other school dances in her future, but none likely as emotional as the one in her basement. so far no charges have been filed against the person who poured gasoline on the fire at the party. investigators say it appears to have been an accident. (ken) new at 8 ten-year-old eva and 4th-grade teacher tanya thomas started the school year as strangers. they had no idea a facebook post would bring them together in a remarkable way. (pam) that ten year old girl needed a life- saving kidney transplant... and it turns out, the ohio teacher was a perfect match. katie ferrell has the story. "we are moms first and

teachers second and she has taken that expectation obviously to the next level," said conley."she's not even eva's teacher, she's just a teacher at her school who responded to a facebook post and who does that for somebody they don't know?" said eva's mom, alana brown, speaking in admiration of thomas.eva has a rare disease called collapsing fsgs and she needs a kidney transplant. since she was diagnosed a little more than a year ago, brown said there have been many setbacks.just last week eva had to be re- admitted to the hospital."we had to stop her dialysis and bring her into the er," said brown. "she's going through a lot so they just have to get her stable. she hasn't eaten since friday."after learning how sick eva was, thomas started the process to see if she qualified to be eva's organ donor months ago."there was really no question and no hesitation. i felt like it was my opportunity to say we're going to give this a try and if it doesn't work i have to be okay with that," said thomas.she got tested and
