(pam) here is a map of school shootings which have occured in the last five - months. however, if you look back over an entire year -- there have already been 22- school shootings.. where someone was hurt or killed. that averages out to more than one shooting a week. (ken) tonight at least one person is dead after ááyet another school shooting in georgia... all this happening in the last hour and half... you're looking at video from the scene. the shooting happened during a graduation ceremony at mount zion high school in clayton county georgia. according to local reports, two adult women where shot, one was killed, the other was shot in the leg. authorities also say a pregnant woman was hospitalized after she was hurt when she was pushed.

(ken) (ken) compared to other recent school shootings, so far, from what has been uncovered, it appears pagourtzis showed fewer red flag warnings before today's shooting. we spoke with a criminologist to find out what signs to look for if someone is not blantantly advertising intent to those around them or on social media. kimberly richman is a professor of sociology at the university of san francisco and she has a ph.d. in criminology, law and society. she says not all young high school aged shooters are going to show off blatant red flag warnings, and adds that every

case is different but there are a couple signs you can watch out for. dang tran walked out of santa rita jail just after 9 tonight..he made his way passed the media with his family by his side..here's video from earlier.. you can see him here in a black hoodie holding a black hat with a woman by his side.. and officersmaking his way through the cameras, on his way to get inside a car.. tran of san jose is accused of driving erratically and under the influence of marijuana when he caused this crash on 1-880 near stevenson blvd.his sedan collided with a cadilac escalade...a family of 8 from manteca was in that s-u-v... the crash killed three people and sent five to the hospital. two of those killed were 9 and 14 year old sistersthe other a 39 year old woman - who was their father's girlfriendthe family was driving back from a birthday party when the crash happenedtran was booked in santa rita jail tuesdayno charges have been filed.. alameda d-a says the investigation in this matter is ongoing and requires additional information.. a go fund me page has been set up to help the family who died

(hermela aregawi)according to the national associaton of convenience stores.. each pump should have a unique serial number on it. if it doesn't have one . or if the strip is voided.. then it means the machine may have been tampered with. and that is the case here. this 76 gas station may be the target of scammers..

for at least the second time in two years. theresa richardson/customerreally scary, to think someone could take your information just that easy. and ever since i heard about, i jiggle the thing to makes sure that it doesn't come loose, so i'm very skeptical. i've been using cash a lot because i don't trust it. according to officials.. each pump has a unique serial number. if it doesn't have one.. or it's voided it means it might have been tampered with. and that is the case here.. at least two pumps don't have a serial number.. and this one says void on it. trish bailey/customerit does concern me. we use it probably every other week and have been doing so now for years. so i was unaware this was happening. i heard about issues in the past. i thought that it had been resolved. in early 2017.. police say.. someone put skimmers inside the pumps... rather than the traditional skimmers that go around the credit card slot. an employee noticed weeks later.. after potentially thousands of people's information was compromised. and this afternoon the remains of a female gray whale washed ashore in marin county. (pam) so far this year, five whales have been found dead in our region. kron 4's charles clifford is live tonight in san francisco with details. charles . . . well, right now several different types of whales are migrating from baja to alaska to feed for the summer. and those whales pass through the shipping lanes along the califronia coast and that is why so many whales die this time of year. on friday morning, the carcass of a fin whale was found along the docks in alameda. the marine mammal center in marin is investigating the death. so far, they are not sure how the whale got into san francisco bay. adding to the mystery, fin whales aren't usually seen along the california coast as often as other whales, like grays or humpbacks. sotare not sure where it came from. it could have come in from quiet a ways out.friday afternoon, the remains were towed to angel island where, weather permitting, the mammal center hopes to perform a necropsy next week in order to determine the cause of death. also on friday, the remains of a gray whale washed ashore on

tennessee valley beach in marin county. sot that whale is a female about 35 feet long. earlier this month, another gray whale. . a 44 foot female. . was found flaoting in san francisco bay, the mammal center says that whale and two others found earlier this year were killed after being struck by ships. unfortuatnly, with the whales migrating through busy shipping lanes, it's not uncommon to see fatalities this time of year.sotthis is a cluster but that tends to happen . we are within a normal number of animals.in recent years, shipping lanes going into and out of san francisco bay were narrowed in the hopes of reducing the number of whales killed by ship strikes. the mammal center says it's still to early to know if those changes are making a difference.sotit is something we want to look at over time. we are getting more and more data but the jury is still out.the mammal center is also hoping to preform a necropsy on the gray whale found along tennesse beach tomorrow.in san francisco, charles clifford kron 4 news.

(ken) riders are fed-up with rampant drug use in bart's san francisco stations. and bart police are too. the san francisco police department and bart are teaming up for a new collaboration to clean-up the transit system. starting soon, san francisco police officers will join the patrols at the busy downtown stations, to disrupt any illegal activity.chris filippi bart communications officer: "it is a matter of making it not a comfortable situation for folks who want to do drugs this is not the place for that we are a transit agency." the joint effort will maximize resources and make a more visible police presence -- creating a feeling of safety for riders. bart will not say exactly when the extra patrols with s-f-p-d

"....details emerging here at the santa cruz sheriff's office this afternoon paint a picture of a chaotic scene where a suspect slipped her handcuffs, got behind the wheel of a deputies vehicle and tried to run him down before she was shot by another deputya pair of patrol cars, one with it's windows shot out, mark the spot where the shooting occurred here at the end of the ocean street extension in santa cruz. just after 3:30 this morning, deputies had detained a man and woman who were loading something into a suspected stolen vehicle. the suspects were handcuffed and placed in the back seat of separate patrol cars says sheriff jim hart. jim hart/santa cruz sheriff "....while the deputies were interviewing the man, the woman slipped the handcuffs, reached out the partially open window and opened the door. she then goes into the drivers seat and without warning drove the patrol car at at one deputy, striking him and damaging both patrol cars...."the sheriff describes a scene where the two deputies, one of whom is now injured, are fearing for their lives as the woman, instead of fleeing the scene, is coming after them again, driving back and forth at the deputies before she was shot. jim hart/santa cruz sheriff ".....the deputy who had not been injured by the vehicle fired multiple times at the woman to stop the assault. she was hit three times in the

chest and the stomach..." the woman survived, was life-flighted to an un-named hospital and underwent surgery. her condition is unknown. the deputy was treated and released. the sheriff offered no details about how the woman slipped her cuffs or whether the deputies failed to properly secure her in the patrol car. the shooting occurred in an area where the sheriff's office has received numerous complaints about drug use and other illegal activity. rob fladeboe/santa cruz '....citing an investigation in it's early stages the sheriff declined to identify either of the deputies or the two suspects. however, he did say the woman who ran the deputy down is facing charges of attempted murder. in santa cruz rob fladeboe kron 4 news.

(pam) the riverside county district attorney's office .... has now filed perjury charges against david turpin... he and his wife are accused of keeping his 13 children captive in their home. investigators say, turpin and his wife tortured, shackled and starved 12 of their 13 children for years. the children were rescued after their 17-year-old sibling .... escaped and called 9-1-1. david turpin also faces one - count of lewd acts on a child. the turpins have pleaded not guilty. (ken) spectacular night video shows lava erupting from the ground on the east side of hawaii's big island. a new fissure opened up thursday evening -- the 21st vent to form since kilauea's latest eruption began may third. yesterday the volcano shot ash and smoke 30-thousand feet into the air. rain kept the ash from spreading far. the u-s-geological survey said most of the debris that was ejected from the crater probably fell close to the explosion site. however, the u-s-g-s doesn't think kilauea is done -- scientists expect volcanic activity to continue. decoys there job is to walk back and forth across the street when they get the walk signal they are testing drivers to see if they follow state law many follow the law, but a few do not .like this city of san francisco water department truck(traffic sounds)and this huge dump truck . and the mini-van with followed close behind both will be stopped we get the mini- van the reason i pulled you over was because the pedestrian was in the crosswalk and uh did you see the pedestrian. this conversation happened multiple times with multiple deputy's the reason i'm stopping you today is because we're conducting a pedestrian enforcement operation at the intersection of millbrae ave and el camino there was a pedestrian lawfully in the crosswalk an the time you made your right turn you failed to yield to that pedestrian oh and it wasn't just drivers see this guy sitting at the bus stop reading a piece of paper it's a ticket because he darted across the street at another crosswalk so yea with the blinking light, you not allowed to cross unless there's a time for it ok and

then when the red hands steady you can't cross because i don't know if you noticed you were in the northbound lanes of traffic when they had a green light because you tried to run across and you didn't make it and if somebody gone tried to start (paper ripping) you could have been hurt for a town as small as millbrae they've had too many people hit by cars everyone is running late to everything and i understand that everyone in society is late in general due to the heavy congestion and traffic but people need to understand they need to slow down and follow the rules of the road and if people can do that we could have prevented some of the fatalities that we've had in the pedestrian crosswalk in fact there is still one memorial on el camino realnow i guess you're wondering just how many drivers did i talk to so you got caught ( behaving badly ) well lets say a few i don't know what the officer was asking me and i'll have more in a future edition of people behaving badly in the city of millbrae stanley roberts kron 4 news

lawrence karnow: low clouds and fog were very slow to burn off leaving cool temperatures along the coast and bay with some 70s inland. the fog is already pushing onshore and will likely bring more drizzle near the coast. doppler radar is tracking more thunderstorms over the sierra. it will continue to be stormy there in the afternoons over the weekend. on the satellite you can see a trough of low pressure sitting across the state. another area of low pressure will drop in on sunday to bring more clouds and cooler temperatures. highs tomorrow will be cool at the beaches and in the 50s with fog, 60s and partly cloudy around the bay, and some 70s inland. it will cool on sunday with partly cloudy skies and breezy winds in the afternoon. there is a slight chance of some isolated showers on monday. warmer weather should return on tuesday and continue into the memorial day weekend.
