to face the unexpected loss... while sara's parents flew from iran into canada where they await a meeting with the us embassy next week. they fear a travel ban may stand in the way of them getting to san francisco to be with their daughter for the funeral. truly one of the hardest stories i've had to report. and i wish both families the best in this difficult time. (pam) another fatal accident involving a driver under the influence of marijuana according to police. this case happened in march and involved the death of a 16 year old girl. and police say, alcohol was also involved in this case.

family members of that 16-year-old are demanding that more is done to hold d.u.i drivers accountable. kron 4's j.r. stone is in san jose on a story you will only see on four. vivian chavez is talking about her niece...16 year old isabelle gonzalez who was killed in a crash in san jose a little more than two months ago. the driver also died, he was over 21 and officers believe he was under the influence of marijuana and alochol. isabelle's friend survived along with another man who is over the age of 21. isabelle's family is mad that that man, who was a passenger, did not get in trouble.sot it's hard...it's hardwhen isabelle's family learned of this more recent fremont crash that left three people dead including two kids they were heartbroken. sad and upset to see that that dang tran is out walking free. the man suspected of being under the influence of marijuana, driving wrecklessley, and speeding.sot i can't imagine....as of tonight no charges have been filed against that fremont driver and no charges have been filed

(grant) this is raising a lot of questions over how to charge drivers that are said to high -- especially now that recreational use of pot is legal. earlir today kron 4 spoke with defense attorney robert shatzko... who explained why this is so difficult. its difficult for the das and the police to prosecute these cases because of marijuana, you don't know when its been smoked, as opposed ot someone who has been alcohol in their system you can meausre it.

(pam) a man is killed when his tesla veers off the road -- and crashes into a pond. tonight, the victim has been identified as 34-year-old keith leung. the incident happened in alameda county... on crow canyon road between castro valley and san ramon. the victim lived in danville. tonight, in an interview you will only see on kron 4... our terisa estacio talked with the man's father, as his family grieves his death. area actually pretty common around the bay area, especially here in san mateo county and attacks on people are very rare, but not unheard of.the last time a bay area mountain lion is known to have attacked someone was in 2014. in that case, an aggressive mountain lion injured a 6-year- old boy in cupertino. the boy survived but the mountain lion was killed a few days later by the california department of fish and wildlife.but that was an exception. in almost all cases, mountain lions shy away from people. for example, late last year, this mountain lion was spotted roaming through densly populated san francisco but no one was injured. eventually the animal was captured in the diamond heights neighorhood then and released in a remote location along the pennissula. soti've never encounted any mountain lions i've never seen one.in san mateo county monday afternoon, hikers in the santa cruz mountains said they were shocked by what happened in washington state this past weekend. signs on all trails here warn of mountain lions and everyone we talked to said it was something they are aware of.sot

considering sealing off a hallway inside its civic center station that's become notorious for drug activity. (pam) kron4's maureen kelly gives us a first hand look at the problem. videos posted on youtube showed one long hallway connecting parts of the civic center concourse level being used as a shooting gallery. some openly injecting drugs....others slumped over. last week at meeting with the san francisco mayor and the heads of both muni and bart an idea was floated to close this section off. it's long enough that someone can stand in the middle and watch out for law enforcement coming from either end.watch the man in the plaid pajama bottoms walk into the hallway....looks around, turns his back as three bart officers approach from the other end. he lights up a substance, inhaling thru a small tube....exhales and walks away....he was able to

leave the hallway just as the officers were entering from the other side. bart says closing the area won't impact commuters since there are entrances to both bart and muni at either end of the hallway.(standup)the next step in moving this idea closer to reality, the bart gm needs to reach out to the state fire marshall to make sure the isn't a public safety concern with shutting this walkway down.some riders say it could be an inconvience....bart board member bevan dufty says the closure could be for a short time...or longer...but they need to get a handle on this situation. i think it's a state of emergency and so we have to put everything on the table and clothes in this hallway would be one of them bart says they are tackling this problem from many directions. they've recently announced joining forces with sfpd to patrol the station. what we are talking about if not just two officers walking shoulder to shoulder just having more people available to patrol this area.that's already underway but monday a member of bart pd's top brass met with his counterpoint at sfpd to talk about the logistics of significantly boosting those patrols.maureen kelly kron4 news.

(pam) state lawmakers are once again pushing their plan to end gun shows at the cow palace in daly city. officials have made five previous attempts to ban gun shows at the location. but each time, it was vetoed for various reasons. they are hoping the sixth time will finally be successful... as senate bill- 221 was introduced last week. because that bill.. would prohibit gun sales at the cow palace starting 20-20. it should finally reach the governor's desk some time next week. each year, there are five guns shows at the cow palace. daly city has no control over it because it is state property. (ken) in the south bay-- officers arrested a man accused of trespassing and

prowling. people living in willow glen told police their video surveillance cameras caught the suspect -- hector leanos junior -- looking into a bedroom window and walking down a driveway. police say leanos is also dealing with domestic violence charges... unrelated to this case. (ken) in the east bay... police are looking for a man who they say attacked a 93-year-old woman. it happened at the bank of america near the sun valley mall in concord on friday afternoon. police say the woman was with her caretaker in the parking lot-- walking towards the bank when a man pushed the elderly woman to the ground. they say he took both women's purses and took off in a getaway car. the elderly woman is still in the hospital with a broken hip. the suspect is described as six foot three, heavy set build, bald with a beard. woman called the police on a small group of mostly african -americans - for using a charcoal grill. yesterday, thousands of people showed up at the lake with their grills... barbecuing in the name of unity. police were at the event... to help with traffic control. they say it went on without any incidents. (ken) starbucks is once again announcing a new policy that allows anyone to sit in its stores ... even if they don't buy anything. the new policy comes weeks after two black men... who hadn't bought anything... were arrested at a philadelphia starbucks while waiting for a business meeting. the company says its previous policies were ambiguous... leaving decisions on whether people could sit in stores or use the restroom up to store managers. last week the company announced anyone could use their restrooms. starbucks says it has told workers to consider anyone who walks into its stores a customer... regardless of whether they make a purchase. coming upso i know one is orange juice and vodka but
