now at 8 -- a woman is looking for answers tonight after she says she was pricked by a needle while taking a seat on bart.(ken) it's a story you will only see on kron 4. good evening -- i'm ken wayne...(pam) and i'm pam moore... riding bart just got a little more dangerous. now, in addition to worrying about being robbed.. there is concern about being stuck with hypodermic needles... this woman says .. it happened to yesterday as she traveled from dublin to san francisco. kron 4's dan kerman is live in the city tonight with more. dan sotthursday morning linda quan headed to the dublin bart station and boarded a san francisco bound train for

work 30 minutes into the ride the san ramon mother of two felt something pierce her behind.sot linda quan/bart passenger stuck with needle 11-20when i felt that i got up and looked at what was poking me and i felt it and didn't know what it was and realized it was s syringe tip.this is the broken tip of the hypodermic needle quan sat on. when she looked under the seat she found even more drug paraphenalia now she wonders why bart isn't doing more to prevent this from happening.sot it's peoples live and people safety and one puncture like that could change the rest of my life if i am infected.sot chris filippi/bart spokesperson 46-56anecdotally police say they have reports similar to this once or twice a month as far as we are concerned that is once or twice a month too many this is a serious and this is something bart needs to address and is addressing with the resources that we havebart says they've hired more police officers, they're redploying train cleaners so bart cars get cleaned more often and are working with police to address the homeless issue sotthey are not doing enough of this would not have happened.after reporting the incident to the train operator and to bart police quan was tested for hiv and hepatitis. now she's on a

( ken ) new tonight at eight..the chp says rain is likely a factor of a deadly crash in the north bay.it happened just before eight this morning on bennett valley road in sonoma county. authorities say 37 year-old hollie pruden was driving a toyota yaris..when it slid sideways on the slick road and was hit by a mercedes.pruden, who was an employee at sonoma state university...was killed. the driver of the mercedes suffered minor injuries.((fsc)) the president of sonoma state university released this statement tonight.we are working on plans for remembering and celebrating hollie in an appropriate way. in the meantime, we are

say, it all started after a marijuana drug deal.. went bad. the victim, who was wounded in the shooting and taken to a local hospital, is described as a 27-year- old male. investigators say, that neighborhood appears to have been chosen at random for the transaction. police have no suspect information at this time ... san francisco police are on the hunt for a suspect who shot someone this afternoon.it happened on california street in the city's pacific heights neighborhood.when officers arrived, they found one person with a gunshot wound.that person was rushed to the hospital, but is expected to survive.the shooter took off, and is still on the loose tonight.police have not released a description. is thanking her lucky stars tonight after she says a paintball missed her head by millimeters when it came whizzing through her open car window while driving northbound on highway 101 in petaluma. kron 4's gabe slate talked with the woman who wants to warn others about what happened to her... sound from rachel thurow - santa rosa " shocking someone could do this to another person" on thursday just before 2 pm, rachel thurow says she was driving northbound on highway 101 in petaluma...about a mile north of the east washington street exit.... sound from rachel thurow - santa rosa " i heard a loud bang" rachel says a blue paintball came through her open driverside window and splattered inside her car. sound from rachel thurow - santa rosa " i don't know how it didn't hit me in the head" rachel says this blue paint on the inside of her passenger side trunk window is where the blue paintball exploded.sound from rachel thurow - santa rosa " i got no sleep last night because i thought if it had hit me in the head the big accident it would have caused" rachel says her window was the only one open so she believes the paintball would have had to pass right by her head

relief is on the way for bay area commuters in antioch... as a new bart extension will open this saturday. the ribbon cutting was at 11 -this morning. people were then treated to free preview rides of bart's new trains. passengers who live in antioch.... and wanted to ride bart .. have had to drive to the pittsburg- bay point station in order to get their train... but tomorrow that will all change. the extension will be able to carry an estimated 2,400 people in each direction, per hour, during rush hours. (ken) a big celebration in the north bay the first resident has moved back into his rebuilt home that was destroyed in the wildfires. left a 10 year old boy injured in dublin last year, is set to reopen tomorrow. operators of the 'wave waterpark' say, they are confident that this time around ... the slide will be safe for children. last year, a 10 year old boy was violently flung off the slide known as 'the emerald plunge'. the child suffered scrapes and bruises .... that slide and another ride called 'the dublin screamer' were both shut down. parents we talked to had mixed feelings about whether or not they would let there child take 'the emerald plunge'.(sot) not yet maybe were going to wait for like a month or three months before we let them go slide just to make sure everything is working on the slide i don't wanna wipe my kids to be to test subject seems like they've done the adequate testing so i think would be safe(pam)would be safe (pam) the parents of the

(pam) police arrested a man connected to a hit and run this morning... near portland state university. this is aerial footage of the suspec car. police say, around ten- this morning, the male driver jumped the curb and struck three women on the sidewalk. the suspect sped away... and two of those women suffered serious injuries. police say, they do not know a motive ... the conditions of the victims

(ken) disgraced movie producer harvey weinstein turned himself in to the new york police department this morning... and plead not guilty to rape charges.(ken) allegations on weinstein's behavior first came out in 20- 17 when two women spoke out, one of them an aspiring actress. since then other women have came out alleging weinstein had assualted them. many of them being well-known actresses. weinstein's attorney insisted that his client is innocent. (ken) harvey weinstein is out of jail today after posting a one-million dollar cash bail. he was ordered to surrender his passport and has to wear a monitor device. sources say more charges are expected and the jury is

(philippe) just a few minutes into walking her dog friday... nancy tillman came across a coyote.nancy tillman/neighbor- "it walked across stanford avenue into our neighborhood -- college terrace." tillman says the coyote was not aggressive. wildlife experts say they rarely are towards humans... but still, coyotes running freely on neighborhood streets concerns those who live in palo alto's college terrace neighborhood... even though it isn't totally out of the ordinary.nancy tillman/neighbor- "i see them every two or three days since march, and in the recent months its been much, much more frequent." from this neighborhood... the santa clara county vector control district says it has received 25 coyote-related calls in the past 60 days... 13 were con vector control says those numbers are actually down for this time of year based on the past six years of data... but not all sightings are reported.norma stoliar/walker- "they don't seem to be aggressive. they're just on their way, looking for rodents to eat, i think." norma stoliar (stow-lee-are) and janie garcia spotted a coyote during their midday walk off page mill road. i also spotted a coyote on the trail nearby but it ran off as soon as we made eye contact.janie

(ken) gulf coast beach-goers seeking fun in the sun this holiday weekend may be disappointed. the national hurricane center says subtropical storm alberto formed today off the coast of mexico. it could mark an early start to the 2018 hurricane season, which doesn't "officially" begin until june first. subtropical storms have characteristics of both tropical storms and more traditional systems. tropical storm and storm surge watches have been issued for parts of the gulf coast as alberto slowly moves eastward. (ken) a man accused of stealing an s-u-v in brooklyn took its owner for a ride on the hood.(pam) the incident began around 6:30- this morning. and reporter katie lusso witnessed the entire incident. did you steal that car. this is how we ended. but this is how it started. didn't catch that. watch closely. we were shocked too. it's not every day you see a man holding onto the hood of a car screaming for dear life. so we followed them up rochester avenue from st. john's place for nearly eight blocks all while on the

phone with 911 before finally the driver pulled over just before atlantic avenue. this man who we later learned was the owner of the car. he just took my fáááing car. is brian. he's a white jewish guy. it began on eastern parkway. (sot) because i caught up to this guy. and held on for more than half a mile before they stopped but the driver was relentless. even trying to take off with our car blocking him when o'hawka briefly came down. when police arrived. he finally came out of the car and allegedly admitted the car wasn't his car and he was taken away in handcuffs. sir...did you steal that car. as for o'hawka...well he's off the hood of his car and back behind the wheel.i'm speechless. you don't have those. you got your car back. i got my car back, thank god for that i"m safe.
