now at ten: this woman found dead in a san francisco general hospital stairwell. and it turns out-- ruby anderson had been missing for ten days. (pam) hospital officials say, anderson was a dementia patient who signed herself out. thank you for joining us im pam moore. (ken) and im ken wayne. but the woman's family says they don't have any answers. kron 4's charles clifford is live in san francisco with more details. charles, can you piece this together for us? we now know that the woman was 76-year-old ruby lee anderson. she was apparently suffered from dementia and was reported missing from sf general mental health back on may 20th. now, the health department said this afternoon she was not a patient at zuckerberg san francisco general hospital and trauma center. there are several different health facility's on this campus and she my have recieved treatment there.it's also unclear how anderson was able to gain access to the power building, which is not normally a place patients and staff go. this afternoon we were able to

speak with anderson's daughter on the phone and she says the family is very upset. the hospital has also vowed to figure out how this happened. now, if this all sounds familiar it's because back in october of 2013, the body of 57-year-old lynne spalding was also found in a stairwell here at sf general after being missing for severl weeks. it now, if this all sounds familiar it's because back in october of 2013, the body of 57-year-old lynne spalding was also found in a stairwell here at sf general after being missing for severl weeks. it was determined that she died of dehydration and complications from liver disease.in that case, investiators ultimately found that hospital staff and the sheriff's department were at fault.

burning more than 500 acres. you can see all the smoke in the area...(ken) they're burning near byron...on grant line and mountain house roads in the altamont area... kron4's ali reid has more on the containment efforts. there was a series of seven wildfires burning in byron today.leaving an estimated 500 acres burnt.as of this hour it is 30 percent contained.word of the fires first came i around 1pm and quickly spread because of the heavy winds. according to fire officials, the fires burned the area between camino diablo and the alameda-contra costa county line,winds in the area are estimated at 20 to 30 mph, but being out here feels like the intensity of a hurricane the fire came extremely close to homes and we spotted at least one barn that was completely burned.so far this evening there are no reports of any injuries. reporting live from byron .. .ali reid ... kron 4 news

lawrence karnow: it was much cooler today as temperatures dropped over 20 degrees from yesterdays highs. it is windy too bring cool air well inland. we are seeing a few showers on doppler radar in northern california. on the satellite you can see cool air moving in from the gulf of alaska. it should make tomorrow the coolest day of the week. expect patchy drizzle tomorrow morning before becoming partly cloudy, cool and breezy in the afternoon. highs will only be in the 50s at the coast with mostly 60s inland. warmer weather will return starting friday with some highs in the 80s. much more sunshine and warmer weather is forecast for the weekend. cooler weather will return at the beginning of next week.

(ken) a tesla on autopilot mode crashed into a police car in laguna beach. this is video from the crash scene yesterday in orange county -- police say the 65-year-old man was behind the wheel of a tesla 2015 model-s when the car on autopilot veered off its path and was "too late to correct." the car collided with a parked police vehicle. there was no one in the cruiser at the time. a consumer watch dog who says tesla's marketing on the autopilot feature is misleading.

one-point-four million californians have already voted in next week's state primary. election officials mailed more than 11 and a half million ballots to registered voters. traditionally, only voters who request mail-in ballots would get them. this year, five counties decided to experiment by sending mail in ballots to all their voters. officials say it's still too early to tell if the move will increase voter turnout. (pam) (pam) the city of oakland is one step closer to banning coal shipments. last night, the city council voted unanimously to appeal a court ruling ... that would allow the development of a

coal export terminal in west oakland. this comes, weeks after a federal judge overturned the city's 20-16 decision to ban the shipping of five million tons of coal every year ... through the terminal. judge vince chhabria had ruled... the city council failed to prove coal shipment would endanger the health and safety of residents. the appeal will be filed next month. (ken)a follow up to a story we first brought you here on kron 4 news at ten- a former redding flight school employee is speaking out about what she witnessed in her short time as a dispatcher for the school. this comes after a pilot was arrested for kidnapping a flight school student. courtney kreiber reports. a former iasco employee is speaking out about what she witnessed in her short time as a dispatcher for the redding flight school. the former employee wants to remain anonymous but said when she heard the audio file that included multiple threats, one coming from iasco instructor, john mcconkey, the other from the flight school's director

"sounds like the language they use in the dispatch office," the woman said adding she started looking for work after two months because of the way they treated the students. it was friday, may 25 when redding police officers say mcconkey and hoser went to student, tianshu shi's apartment and told him he was being sent back to china. when shi refused to leave, he claimed mcconkey and hoser threatened him and attacked him, then took him to the redding municipal airport. redding police received a call from shi's brother in china who said he was worried about him. mcconkey and hoser were later arrested at the redding airport for conspiracy and kidnapping. both posted bail that same evening.when asked if either mcconkey or hoser were still employed with iasco or back at the school tuesday, a member of their staff, who would not identify himself, said the flight school is "back to business as usual." jonathan mcconkey is represented by attorney john m. runfola out of san francisco and kelsi hoser is represented by naomi chung, the attorneys released a joint statement that reads:"our clients vehemently deny the allegations that have been made and intend to prove their innocence. in the coming weeks, we will provide you with additional facts, documentation, personal information regarding tianshu shi, and regarding the complexities of training a national post-very complicated

(ken) drivers we talked with are upset about the parking situation. some say there aren't enough spaces and it is a traffic nightmare in the morning. kron 4's j.r. stone is following the story and has more from the east bay. sot i would have fired half the people involved in this project and put them some place else.outrage over the parking situation at the new bart extension in antioch. the issue...not enough spaces. sot they had to have known there were going to be this many people....no solution.a viewer reached out to us showing that problem...cars parked in the grass across the street. in fact those cars

weren't ticketed wednesday but were ticketed tuesday. those with bart say there are 1- thousand six spots saying the extension was built with the idea that some would drive, some would carpool, some would take the bus, and some would walk or bike.sot i think there is a lack of respect for people out here maybe because there isn't as much money out here i think a lot of people feel that way.some we talked with were able to get a spot. this man arrived at 5 am and this one at 5:30 am...by 6 though...spots were gone with the exception of the scoop carpool app that guarantees you parking until 10 but riders i talked with are fearful of getting home after work if they don't drive their car.bart says there are no plans to add parking and that this project was budgeted for a lot not a garage. something that would cost 40-50 thousand per space. many very upset. sot i would have thought they would have known how busy pittsburg was sot it's just poor planning....in antioch, j.r. stone kron 4 news

according to the city's fire department. a witness posted this video on twitter it shows the fire on the street- level rotunda of citi field. the man who took this video says, he heard a loud blast then saw smoke and this fire. no word on whether anyone was injured. ( ken ) it looked like a scene being shot for a new "mad max" movie. but this fiery car accident was no stunt. surveillance video captured the moment a car slammed into a south florida gas station and erupted into flames. a mother was behind the wheel when she lost control, hit a gas pump and jumped the curb -- hitting the building. mother and daughter were able to get out on their own and run away. the clerk inside the station was able to escape by kick out the jammed door. no one at the gas station was hurt. police are investigating the cause of the crash.
