it appears the suspect figured out a way to beat the system, and was driving for the rideshare company for years without being discovered. orlando lazo is facing 12 felonies .... accused of raping 4 women in san francisco while posing as a lyft driver. at this time the defendant is looking at life in prisonfederal immigration authorities announced vilchez lazo is a citizen of peru and in the united states illegally. yet, lazo was driving for years.according to lyft's website, safety is top priority. and the company runs extensive background checks on drivers.as a requirement, drivers undergo dmv, plus a national and county background check, which requires a social security number, in addition to an in-state drivers license that is at least a year old.so we asked lyft how lazo managed to pass their employment, criminal screening and background check?we're told ....individuals who drive for lyft must be eligible to work in the united states.
