(pam) hurricane lane is expected to weaken before it makes landfall.. but there are still serious concerns about... flash flooding... and damaging winds. good evening im pam moore. (ken)here in the bay area: a local rescue team in menlo park has been deployed.36 members of california's urban search and rescue task force left for oahu in advance of hurricane lane.kron 4's ali reid joins us live from the menlo park fire district with details on the deployment .... ali ? the fire district was put on alert last night .... there are actually 3 teams heading to hawaii from the west coast ... here in menlo park .... san diego and washington.pkgit was chaotic todayhurricane lane is expected to be a powerful stormwhen we're needed, we're neededmenlo park sent 3 dozen search and rescue personnel. just after midday

they loaded up on a bus and headed to san francisco airport. the team .... made up of rescuers with advanced search and rescue capabilities, flew out on 7 different planes. there was also 40-thusand pounds of equipment, and 2 search dogs. we have civilian professionals, doctors, heavy equipment operators ... so all these different specialties are brought together.the team is always ready to head out on missions, but this particular call was tough. they recently finished moving into a new facility last week, and got word tuesday night about today's deployment. they quickly had to figure out where to find whatever was needed.not only where is it, but how ddo i get that and the whole family, all 36 people out the door. this isn't the first time we've been challenged bu t i give the team those deployed and not deployed credit for getting it done essentially within 12-18 hours. standupthe 3 teams from the west coast are heading to different islands ... each group can use rescue supplies for 7 days before needing replenishment..reporting from menlo park ... ali reid ... kron 4 news.

violent i get in the car like i always do. i say, hello, you know, how are you? i noticed he has both of his earphones on. erica says she was going from vallejo to her job in san francsico last thursday around 8:30 in the morning..it was just one of multiple rideshares she takes on an average day.but she says.. this one wasn't like any other. he takes the wrong freeway exit. i tried to get his attention then but of course he couldn't hear me then because he had his earphones on. we're driving, driving driving and we get to where the gps is telling him to turn and he doesn't turn. so i finally get his attention. i had to snap my fingers to get his attention. that's when he went off, don't ever snap your f'n fingers in front of me and just get the f out and then i know, next thing i know, i'm getting punched in my mouth. he just turned around reached back and started punching me erica called 911... and so did the driver.. who she says claimed she broke his glasses. according to her.. the police suggested they do a citizen's arrest since they were both claiming being attacked.she went to her job as a currier

killing mollie et appeared in the court hearing comes a month after tibbetts went for an evening run in brooklyn, iowa, and did not return home. our grant lodes explains.. the suspect is accused of pursuing and killing tibbetts. and i will never stop looking for you.nj kaboga-miller trying to reach out to his mother. 66 year old wamaitha kaboga-miller. a woman who is considered at risk and has not been seen since last friday morning.sot she hasn't driven for well over two months she's been pretty much disabled and wheelchair bound.that because of a major back surgery...but friday wamaitha got in her car and left her palo alto home around 9 in the morning. she can then be seen in this surveillance video purchasing cigarettes at the country time market on university avenue in east palo alto. a transaction that took a very long time because of her health condition.sot she was wearing jewelry that was well into the thousands she had a checking account with lots of money as well as cash so that could be def an idea that someone might want to rob her or steal her car...kawaitha's sons have been looking everywhere for their mother. someone who has been on pain medication because of her back. she hasn't made any bank or credit card transactions since this purchase on friday but they are holding out hope that she is still alive...sot my fear

announched it is closing all of the orchard supply hardware stores.(ken) orchard supply harward or "osh" started in the south bay in 19-31.kron 4's gayle ong has reaction from customers and employees. this store opened 9 years ago - a lot of long time employees here just shocked and sad about the news. this store helped customers rebuild their homes from the devastating wildfires.it's a sign of the times..another big name store closingsot orchard supply hardware - which is owned by lowes is shutting it's doors for goodthe sudden closure announcement came tuesday night but it was business as usual at the hardware store in santa rosa,a store where contractors like mike valderrama chooses to shopsotsteve conroy also a contractor anthe company says 're closing down there's about 4-thousand employees who will get priority at lowes stores..all stores are set to close for good by the end of the year.meantime, liquidation sales begin tomorrow.here in
