construction site fire in oakland. we first brought you the story as yesterday morning.(lydia) this fire is being called suspicious... kron 4's alecia reid has pkgi was in shock to see this building in flames like really bad.sounds from the massive overnight fire woke neighbors. we look and there was too much fire.the 126 unit townhouse complex was under contruction. drone video shows the extent of the blaze. some of the the 1500 square feet, three story homes may be salvagable ... but there's a lot of water damage from what's left. oakland mayor libby schaaf, visibly upset that this may have been intentional.an attack on new housing in oakland is an attack on families being housed in oakland. we are in a housing crisis. we need housing as quickly and effectively as possible.in the last 2 years, arson cases have targeted other east bay construction sites in oakland and emeryville. as well as one in concord earlier this year. families in this west oakland neighborhood say although they wouldn't be able to afford these townhomes, burning them down is not the answer.i can't

be mad at whoever is going in there, but they need to make some for people in the hood that need someplace to live just like the rich people.by law they have to make 20% for low income, so they're trying to help the homeless problem homes in the ice house complex range anywhere from 644-729 thousand dollars. federal agents with the bureau of alcohol tobacco firearms and explosives were on scene sifting for clues. the powerful sounds from the fire left a lasting impact on neighbors.it's a little scary because it's too much fire. it's a big big...i believe it's the same person. he hits from the inside of the property so it guts it alecia reid ... kron 4 news. (lydia) in the east bay ... two arrests have been made in the shooting death of a 24- year-old man in castro valley. alameda county sheriff's deputies arrested david harrison jr and marcus smith for the murder of joseph gormley. the shooting happened back in august. police say joseph gormley was sitting in his car on john court when somebody walked up and opened fire. the two men arrested are now behind bars in the santa rita jail. investigators are still asking anyone with further information to come forward. (lydia) breaking from overnight. a woman is dead after she was hit by a truck while trying to cross a street in santa rosa. it happened last night just before 10 near the intersection of stony point road and occidental road. witnesses told police the woman was trying to cross the road from the olivers market shopping center when she was hit by the truck. police have not released the name of the victim. officers say alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in this investigation.

( james ) new this morning... san francisco city leaders have voted to suspend nearly 10 million dollars in funding for the brand new salesforce transbay center after a crack was found in a beam. crews have been working on a shoring system on fremont street to support the cracked beam for weeks now. the concern is that suspending an additional 9- point-6 million dollars will slow down the continued project to expand the transit center. but, yesterday the san francisco board of supervisors voted to suspend this money and create a peer panel of experts to recommend a plan for fixing the transit center. the money was going to pay for rail lines that would eventually connect with cal trains. but recent problems with the transit center has officials worried about putting any more money into this project. ( james ) happening today ... another round of striking at the picket lines. thousands of u-c-s-f hospital employees will be protesting outside the university's facility on parnassus avenue.

protestors are striking against the university outsourcing jobs within the hospital. health and medical professionals aren't the only ones on strike. the protesters also include custodians, food service workers and shuttle drivers. a number of employee contracts are in negotiations right now, and many of the workers are demanding higher pa u-c-s-f's emergency department will remain open during the strike. the strike is scheduled to end at 3:59 a-m on friday morning. ( lydia ) a group of priest abuse survivors and their attorneys are accusing bishops across the state of covering up sexual misconduct among clery members. tuesday, they released a report accusing 212 bay area catholic clergy members of sexual misconduct. during a news conference, they say there's a grave danger across the state and the bay area. ( lydia ) its been three weeks since the same attorneys filed a lawsuit on behalf of a priest abuse survivor against every catholic bishop in california, including those in san francisco, oakland and san

( james ) in the south bay ... the santa clara county district attorney's office says police were justified when they shot and killed a man during a confrontation at an energy facility. the report and three body camera videos detail the events leading up to the shooting of 27-year-old thompson nguyen back on january 9th. the report says san jose police officers adam hutson and timothy faye lawfully shot nguyen while he was holding an axe and a pipe at the metcalf energy center. an investigation after the shooting revealed some journals were found in nguyen's car. in those journals ... nguyen claimed employees of the energy facility had placed microchips in his brain. ( james ) in the east bay ... a pittsburg man was fatally shot by police ... after holding his family at gunpoint. police say the man shot a relative and kidnapped his wife and child ... before leading police on a chase into concord ... and then back to pittburg. they say the man then holed up inside of a home
