( darya ) san francisco firefighters are trying to determine what caused a deadly fire this morning. it happened in the 3800 block of clay street --- in the presidio heights neighborhood. fire officials say one person died and another one is in serious condition. a firefighter was also hurt while trying to battle the blaze. the fire happened around one this morning. ( darya ) authorities in bodega bay are investigating a deadly car crash that happened after midnight. they say a little after 12-30 this morning fire officials found a car on fire off of a cliff along salmon creek beach north. they then found a body under the burning car. both were found about 40 feet below highway 1. no other information on the cause of identity of the victim has been released at this time. ( will ) also breaking overnight...police are investigating a deadly shooting in san francisco.

officer say they found a man inside a car suffering from a gun shot wound. the victim was found in the 1300 block of evans avenue and pronounced dead on the scene. shot spotter alerted police to the scene just after one this morning. police do not have any suspects at this time. ( will ) one person has died following a shooting in downtown oakland on sunday night the shooting happened after 9:30 in the 2100 block of franklin street. police have not yet identified the victim and they say no one else was injured. police add that there was a crowd of people near the shooting --- who investigators hope will be able to identify the victim and give them a better idea of what lead to the shooting. no other information has been released at this time. ( darya ) two men were hurt in oakland in separate shootings this weekend. shortly after 7 saturday night, police found a male

victim in the 35-hundred block of school street. he went to the hospital, but his condition is unknown. ( darya ) in the second shooting, police were called to the 11-hundred block of 59th street shortly before 1 a.m. sunday. that male victim was also taken to the hospital. no other information was made available. (á2 shotá)( will ) as you may have noticed this weekend, a partial government shutdown went into effect. meaning some government employees are working without pay this christmas.( darya ) and there's a chance it won't be fixed until the new year. john lorinc explains. president trump and congressional democrats can't bridge the gap over the border wall.that resulted in a partial government shutdown. nat sound of wh switchboard message"due to the lapse of federal funding, we are unable to take your call. once funding has been restored, our operations will resume." roughly 25-percent of the government is affected.mos/no

tsunami hit the indonesian coastline over the weekend. officials believe an eruption of the kra-ka-toa volcano caused an underwater landslide that triggered the tsunami. at least 281 people were killed.melisa raney reports on the devastating tsunami. a desparate search for survivors --nat - shouting people left digging though the rubble after a tsunami hit the coastline of west java and sumatra, indonesia on saturday. more than two hundred people have been killed.hundreds more are injured or missing.the tsunami struck without warning --people ran for their lives as a towering wall of water slammed the pandeglang district ...destroying more than 500 homes and severely damaging hotels and restaurants.the waves caused a stage to collapse during a band's performance --ifan / seventeen lead singer: "our bass player ... and our manager ... passed away..." several of the band's other members are still missing . authorities typically have time to warn of imminent tsunamis ...the head of indonesia's national disaster mitigation agnency said there was no warning saturday night.

tsunami's typically follow an earthquake --but experts believe this tsunami was triggered by underwater landslides caused by the eruption of a nearby volcano. now, teams of aid workers are on the ground ...helping in the cleanup effort and sifting through the debris -- hoping to find more survivors.i'm melisa raney reporting. ( will ) and santa rosa police arrested one person following a fight at the santa rosa plaza and discovered a stolen, loaded weapon and about a pound of pot in their car. officers were called out because of the fight --- but the suspects ran before police could aphrehend anyone on the scene. it was during a traffic stop in the parking lot, that 18-year-old angel valencia tried to run from police and they found the illegal items in their car. the weapon was reported stolen in new mexico.

( darya ) antioch police are thanking good neighbors for helping catch a man prowling around cars. they posted these pictures on facebook. around 6 sunday morning a neighbor from the prewett ranch drive and summerfield drive area called into to say she had seen a man on her home security cameras walking around trying to open car doors. the woman gave police a good description of the man when police arrived he bolted. officers ran after him and he threw a loaded gun. but they were able to catch him turns out he had numerous warrants, drug paraphernalia, stolen credit cards, and the gun was reported stolen during a vehicle burglary 2 weeks ago. (á2 shotá)( darya ) weather officials say king tides or extreme tides might flood parts of the san francisco coastline throughout christmas eve. people along the piers have saw some high water splashing up on walkways this weekend. ( will ) and some of the businesses are prepared for the rising waters. kron4's dan thorne has more.

high water from king tides splashing along a pier 3 walkway..the national weather service says more of these king tides will threaten san francisco's coastlines through christmas eve..flooding along roads, and sidewalks is a concern for areas like the embarcadero..and some businesses in pier 3 were seen getting prepared...sandbags are set up to hopefully deter any rising waters..other businesses like book passage in the san francisco ferry building are not as concerned.. sot: no not as far as the book store is worried just make sure you don't stand too close to the edges of the railings or anything like that. nick mitchell says he believes the ferry building should not have any problems..however, when you see some of the king tides come in you might be surprised..sot: nothing too dangerous but every once and a while you'll see it take a tourist off-guard. of fire>...the thomas fire. fast-moving floods triggered mudslides and debris flows... that swept away cars... and buried homes in santa barbara county. rachel ross/lives in montecito, ca: "there's nothing here anymore, besides a river of mud."more than a dozen people were killed -- and hundreds of homes were damaged or destroyed. the thomas fire -- which began in december 2017 and charred nearly 282-thousand acres -- wasn't fully extinguished until june. it was a snowy and frigid start to the new year for the east coast. a series of winter storms brought snow to the deep south... tallahassee, florida saw its first measurable snow in nearly 30 years... and charleston, south carolina received its largest snowfall since 1989 with 5-point-3 inches. that same series of storms brought bone-chilling temperatures -- blinding snow - - and historic flooding to parts of new england. the tide at boston harbor reached a record of 15- point-1-6 feet. floodwaters reached the doors of some homes -- forcing people to flee.and cars were submerged -- some in as much as three feet of water.

the mendocino complex fire erupted in northern california. just over459-thousand acres were scorched and more than 300homes were destroyed. officials say it's the largest wildfire in state history.and it wasn't fully contained until september. also in september... hurricane florence took aim on the southeast as a category 4 storm. more than a million people across north and south carolina were told to leave -- or prepare for the worst. rep. tom rice/(r) south carolina: "if you stay, and you get stuck in this, you're on your own."the slow- moving storm weakened to a category one before making landfall near wrightsville beach, north carolina.but its effects were devastating. high winds toppled trees... transformers exploded -- leaving hundreds of thousands of people in the dark. and the storm's relentless rain -- and high storm surge -- triggered destructive flooding. more than a dozen rivers in north and south carolina overflowed their banks -- inundating homes and prompting hundreds of water rescues.

( darya ) two birds are expected to survive after they swallowed prescription pills that were dumped at a southern california park. someone spotted a canada goose lying on the groud with its feet in the air. the orange county register says someone apparently dumped hundreds of pills on the grounds of a park in huntington beach. two affected birds had their systems flushed and are

( will ) several camp fire victims are spending the holidays at a retreat in the east bay. ashley zavala explains how the retreat is helping survivors cope. "we're usually closed at christmas time."christmas at the san damiano retreat center is different this year. the gently decorated grounds are serving as a getaway this week for survivors of the camp fire. ((lisa briones- san damiano retreats)) "we decided to open our doors for those wanting a little bit of respite from the daily task of insurance, trying to think of what was in the house and write things down.."event organizer lisa briones came up with the idea.. "i have also experienced some of what our guests are going through... i lost my house in 2015 in the butte fire."san damiano and its volunteers organized events, crafts and meals for about 200 survivors.

( darya ) victims from the camp fire ... are planning to have a very merry christmas in paradise. a local nursery donated a christmas tree to light up at the ice rink in town. the tree was the only thing that survived when the nursery burned down in the fire. some businesses have reopened and medical workers are helping patients. the community continues to rebuild in the days before the new year.
