( james ) breaking news this morning --- the government shutdown is affecting flights at three major airports: lagaurdia, newark and philadelphia. there is a ground stop right now at laguardia airport and the delays are spanding several hours in some cases. the f-a-a has said that all three airports are experiencing these delays because of a shortage in air traffic controllers. if you are traveling out this morning, you may want to check if your flight is being impacted. ( darya ) now to breaking news from overnight. a hawaiian airline flight was diverted to san francisco international airport ... due to a death on board.( james ) kron4's sara stinson is live at sfo with the latest. sara?

i'm live here at the international terminal at s-f- o where most of the passengers have spent the last couple hours looking for an alternative flight after their plane to new york was diverted here.passengers tell me thats because a flight attendeant died while flying over the pacific ocean.people say it the other flight attendants seemed emotional, but didn't say what was going on - they did make an announcement asking for any doctors on the plane to come to the front.c-p-r was given to the flight attendant, but the person was pronounced dead on the plane.it was then

announced that instead of heading to j-f-k they would make a stop in san francisco. there passengers waited two hours as a medical examiner came aboard and removed the body.hawaiian then made an annoucement that passengers should go get their bags and book a new flight to new york but since the airline doesn't fly from s-f-o to j-f-k they had to go to other airlines...some passengers paying nearly two thousand dollars.i spoke with one passenger who explained how they started to realize it was a flight attendant who died and not another passenger.sot trt: 17cg: breeze-oin morita, hawaiian airlines passenger the plane just got pulled out of the gate you can see here - but no word on where the airline is taking it. we've reached out to hawaiian airlines, but have not heard back.live at s-f-o, sara stinson, kron four news. morning... the f-b-i has arrested long-time trump associate roger stone for lying and obstructing justice. we have video of the moment f-b-i arrested him at his home in florida this morning. take a look. the seven-count indictment against stone is the first criminal case in months from mueller. it provides the most detail to date about how trump campaign associates were aware in the summer of 2016 that emails had been stolen from the hillary clinton campaign and wanted them released. it alleges trump campaign officials campaign trump it alleges trump campaign officials contacted stone to ask when the stolen emails might be disclosed. the charges against stone include obstruction of justice, five counts of giving false statements and one count of witness tampering. press secretary sarah sanders spoke about the arrest this morning. area ... the shutdown is not only affecting federal workers ... it's also affecting low income families. snap is a federal program that provides food stamps to tens of thousands of families. the program could soon run out of money in mid february. in an effort to help families out ... the department that oversees food stamps already issued benefits for the next month. ( darya ) even though food stamp customers recieved benefits early ... officials say families should spend it wisely and try to make it last through the end of ( darya ) happening today ...t-s-a workers will rally at the oakland airport ... to call for an end to the government shutdown. the rally will happen at noon ... and the t-s-a workers will be joined by impacted federal workers from all over the ( james ) police in the

south bay say problems with the santa clara county danger. back in november the superior court in santa clara county changed to a new court case management system. san jose police say there were issues with the software. now more than 25-hudred people with criminal warrants have not been ordered to court. police say that is putting officers and the community at risk. today ... members of the san jose police officer's association plan to call for the state auditor to conduct a full investigation. ( darya ) now to the south bay ... where san jose saw two deadly hit-and-run's in less than 24 hours. the first we told you about yesterday morning. now we are learning more about the car police are looking for. take a look at this surveillance video. police believe this white van hit and killed a woman walking a crosswalk at the intersection of santa clara street and tenth street. the van has no markings ... but police

say it is very likely showing some damage. < "....we know there is going to be damage to the right front quarter panel based on the impact with the victim but we have no idea who the suspect is, whether it's a man or woman or if there was anyone else in the van....">( darya ) police placed a sign at the intersection to inform drivers that the deadly accident happened there. they hope it will generate some tips to help in the ( darya ) the 2nd hit and run happened yesterday afternoon. police say a man wanted for burglary was seen getting into a b-m-w with two other people. the b-m-w had been reported stolen. while running from police... the car crashed into a lexus at the intersection of meridian avenue and kooser road. one of the passengers in the b-m-w died in the accident. the driver... took off running from the scene and is still on the loose this morning. the third person in the car was a 17-year-old boy... he is expected to be okay and has been arrested for burglary. the driver of the lexus is

also expected to be okay. police found stolen property in the b-m-w. this was san jose's 5th vehicle- related death this year. ( james ) on the peninsula .. a man is wanted for groping two women and shoplifting from a store in mountain view. here is a surveillance image of the man police are looking for. the first groping incident happened monday morning. a 34-year-old woman was walking on the stevens creek trail near central avenue when she was grabbed by the man. then tuesday afternoon ... another woman reported being groped on the same trail. police say the man also stole 100-dollars worth of tobacco products from the walgreens on east el camino real. ( james ) in palo alto ... police are looking for a man who attempted to rob two people wednesday night. the incidents happened in the 200 block of leland avenue ... near peers park. the attempted robber approached a man and demanded his cell phone. when the victim refused ... the man tried to throw a punch but missed.

story. cal fire says p-g&e is not to blame for the cause of the deadly tubbs fire. the fire claimed the lives of 22 people in october of 20-17. cal fire investigators say the fire started on a private property on bennett lane in calistoga. they say the fire sparked from an independent electrical system not operated by pg&e. from in napa, lake counties. it is know for destroying the coffey park and fountain grove neighborhoods. despite

embarcadero station yesterday to try and catch people in the act.the bart board voted to hire community service officers to check for valid fares on trains, platforms and landings. after determining they are losing 15 to 25 million dolalrs a year by people not paying for their ticket. bart says they have no discretion in checking tickets --- meaning they check every rider. several commuters we spoke to have mixed opinions on fare

is to approve a three-week continuing resolution to temporarily fund the government... then sort out the wall and border security issues. more than 100-members of congress have said they're not accepting their paychecks until the shutdown is over. ( james ) in the east bay... a mexican restaurant in oakland is helping feed coast guard members hurt by the partial government shutdown. for every meal sold ... nido kitchen and bar in jack london square will give coast guard members a grocery gift card for up to 100 dollars. silvia maccollow and her husband own the restaurant and they feel a need to be actively involved in giving back to the coast guard because silvia's husband is in the coast guard. look at earthquake safety standards for high rise buildings. this step comes a report suggesting some skyscrapers may have hidden damage leftover from the 89 loma preita quake. kron 4's maureen kelly explains. so if there's one silver lining out of the whole millennium tower debacle it's the fact that you got the city together to do this reportit was after the discovery of the sinking and leaning luxury condo high rise downtown that triggered the tall buildings safety strategy. that report revealed that nearly 70 older high rises in san francisco might have suffered unseen damage during the 1989 loma prieta earthquake....because they have a similar construction to ones damaged in la's1994 northridge quake. the study recommended that they be reinspected. the order coming out of city hall calls for the strenghthing the resiliency of tall buildings. the department of building inspection and other deparments has been told to explore adopting stricter seismic standards....and updating policies for assessing buildings after a big quake . while it doesn't directly demand the reinspection of the high rises

mentioned in the report.... supervisor aaron peskin who represents the financial district says it could open the door for that to happen. it's certainly a direction to increase seismic safety standards. we can have seismic safety standards that are more stringent than the state standards and we're on the way to do that for new construction. that's easier. it's accessing the problems with existing buildings and requiring fixes for those that's the more politically difficult path to trod. he says he's heartened by call to also includes more through recovery plan for the densely populated downtown sector. when issuing the executive order mayor breed noted that san francisco has a 72 percent chance of experiencing a 6.7 magnitude quake or greater in the next
