( will ) breaking overnight... pg&e has officially filed for bankruptcy... this comes after the california public utilities commission voted to allow the company to borrow up to $10- billion to pay for operations. during monday's meeting... the commission passed the waiver saying it was the only way to ensure safe and reliable gas and eletric service will continue to flow to california homes and busineses. protesters spoke out both inside and outside of the state building.

woolsey and hill fires.. saying the numbers increased by about 25-percent from an already expensive evaluation last lara says the totals are now at 11-point-4 billion dollars, with the deadly fire in paradise accounting for more than 8 billion of that. the numers rose from the preliminary report in december, showing total insured damages at 9 billion. lara says insurance companies have paid out about half of the 12-billion dollars from 20-18 damages, and he is anticipating more payments to come. we will get another update on the numbers in april. ( darya ) happening now... police are looking for the man who restrained and sexually assaulted a woman on the stanford campus. it happened on the 600 block of escondido road. the victim says the man restrained her and then started groping her after she repeatedly told him to stop. police only have a vague description of the man but say the victim had met the attacker before. bay... oakland's roots international academy is set voted late last night to cle students rallied for the district to keep the middle school open. the district decided to close the school due to budget concerns and a lack of resources. officials say they will help parents relocate students to other area schools. here's what some had to say at last night's board meeting. ( james ) this closure affects about 200 students and their families. several other schools in the district may also close down. teachers in this district could be on strike as early as next month. ( james ) now to the south bay. we now know the name of the pedestrian who was killed by a hit-and-run driver in san jose. we first

brought you this story yesterday morning. this was the scene on almaden 57- year-old robinder singh. it was the 3rd- fatal hit and run accident involving a pedestrian in the past three- weeks there. after the initial collision, four other drivers who hit the man ... stopped to help and called 9-1-1. police are calling on the public for help in tracking down the driver of a red pickup ... which they believe has significant front end damage. ( darya ) police in mountain view are investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian. it happened last night just before 9 in the 100 block of el camino real near yuba drive. police say they believe the man stepped off the sidewalk and into the road. he was pronounced dead at the scene. police say the driver is cooperating with officers. ( darya ) authorities in california say a group of immigrants were taken into custody monday ... after they arrived on a makeshift boat ing boat first made entry via anaheim bay, which is u-s navy

property. firefighters treated 12 people following what officials said was a multi-casualty incident. 12 suspects were taken into federal custody after they were checked out by paramedics. it wasn't clear where the boat originated from. federal officials say 10 of those detained are chinese nationals while the two others are hispanic men. ( darya ) in the east bay, neighbors along a quiet walnut creek street are cleaning up after a large oak tree fell between two homes. it happened along the two- it happened along the two- thousand block of banbury road. the tree fell and took out the chimney , and a fence before landing on a garage. no word on exactly why the tree fell. but inside the trunk, it appears rotten.. the tree fell on private property and the owners are responsible for cleaning it up. they have hired a contractor who is cutting up

( darya ) in the south bay... a new lawsuit wants to prevent teachers and students from meeting one-on- one in the future. the claim involves the alleged abuse of two middle school students. it is filed against both dartmouth middle school and the union school district. a pair of students allege they were sexually assulted by their darthmouth middle school music teacher samuel neipp. the civil claim aims to protect students in the union school district by seeking a court order mandating the district implement new child predator prevention policies

suffered facial and skull fractures-- as well as a brain injury. monday the victim's granddaughter said she is still in the hospital in critical but stable condition. gathron is being held without bail. ( james ) an arrest has been made in a hit-and-run that killed a san francisco state student over the weekend. redondo beach police say 21-year-old angelina pinedo was on the crosswalk saturday night when she was hit. officers say the driver ... 21-year-old leila gonzales ... did not stop. however police were able to get a partial license plate from a black audi s-u-v. pinedo lived in daly city, but was from san gabriel. she was visiting her sister in redondo beach. san francisco state university have set up grief counselors on campus. ( james ) happening now..police are investigating after a student was found stabbed at a concord high school. contra costa county fire says they responded to a call of a person bleeding just before 8:00 monday morning on the campus of mount diablo high

school. the 18-year old was taken to the hospital with what was described as a minor stab wound to his abdomen. it is believed that he was stabbed in downtown high school to get help. concord police have not released any information on what led up ot the stabbing. ( darya ) a big story this morning. attorneys for the family of stephon clark filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the city of sacramento and two police officers. clark was fatally shot in march 18th of last year. doug johnson has more. nats paperfiled on behalf of stephon clarkús two sons, his parents and grandparents... the lawsuit seeks at least 20 million dollars from the city of sacramento as well as from the two officers who pulled the trigger... ultimately taking clarkús life.berry accius, voice of the youth 'thatús the only form of justice now-a-days when it comes to police shootings. you know you sue, because youúre

( james ) a 35- year old san francisco man has died... after being trapped by an avalanche that occured last week in montana. benjamin hirsch- mcshane was backcountry skiing in the tobacco root mountains, when an avalanche occured around 1 - oclock last friday afternoon. he was part of a group of four people from california and utah. the group was reportedly ascending a slope in a heavily treed area, when the avalanche occurred. two of the skiiers were able to grab on to trees ..they were not hurt.. hirsch- mcshane and another skiier were carried away in the avalanche. the other skiier was hospitalized for their injuries. a funeral service for hirsch- mcshane will be held in denver thursday, with another service planned for a later date in san francisco.
