with answers to your questions about the coronavirus that's all wednesday at 09:00am. 6 oh 4 getting back to our top story this morning students at 2 san jose schools are going to have to look for a new place to go to class come this fall, yes, sad news for them, we have dove hill and laurel wood elementary schools, both shutting down now at the end of the year kron four's will tran live in san jose with more on this decision that's going to come as. >>shock and also a huge inconvenience to students and parents well. >>huge inconvenience, but it looks like a lot of parents are on board this was not a unilateral decision made by the school district to the superintendent last lay did there was input from parents and they were told back in october that they needed to chop a couple of schools and sure enough they chose those 2 schools. dot hill and laura wood elementary because there's a $12 million budget gap that they need to close and they say is simply was not
6:06 am
worth it to keep those 2 schools open to keep all the activities to make sure that it was fully operational instead it will shut down at the end of this year. so the clock is ticking and all of the parents and sdents who show up to the list of those 2 particular schools and then at the end of the year. the students and the parets still get oriented to the other get to know them and then e here's the good part though no layoffs despite all the budget problems that they're facing the teachers they will be transrred to the other schools as well because let's face it the students still need attention. the school district says that they will move to maybe newer schools bigger classrooms, and in those classrooms will allow them to incorporate new educational take for the students and let's face it we all went to school of course at one time or another right so some schools might be a little bit further some schools may be a little bit closer so the students who probably live next city schools will not be happy. but
6:07 am
the according to the school district already have to travel a longistance to come to this school come next fall, they'll be closer to their new school. back to you. >>thank you well. 6 oh 6 right now and. >>and a lot of people of safety concerns about bart even more so now this morning after a man was attacked on a train near the lake merritt station in oakland and this morning. the attacker is under arrest for stance or has a closer look at what happened. >>police say they've arrested this man who's accused of attacking someone on a train with a chain lice say the suspect also punched the victim in the face before getting off at the lake merritt station beat somebody says its crimes likethese ton that keep her from regularly using bart she thinks safety needs to become a bigger priority on the transit system is not enough police there's not enough patrols. >>and it's probably not enough information really for especially was rush hour police say this chain attack happened around 6 o'clock tuesday night.
6:08 am
>>just after the victim got on the daily city-bound traiat the fruitvale station the suspect asked the victim for directions and then struck him as they were approaching lake merritt. and help curb safety issues board launched its ne ambassador program on monday, the uniform did an armed patrols are supposed to provide another layer of security for passengers i feel like it's much safer than before. despite tuesday's attack regular david chavez says he's noticed an increased presence of police and staff howeve chavez is still seeing the occasional panhandler but overall feels better about the direction bar is headed and very into last year and gets better reporting in oakland, dan thorn kron 4 news. >>arla said to thnorth bay now are police are looking for a man wanted for a home burglary take a good look this is video from the doorbell camera watching just kicks the door right in there. and then he goes inside, grab some items and walks out if he can know who this person is call

6:10 am
allowed to requesta transfer to other prisons, this was made possible by a provision in prop 66 that was a law passed by vote back in 2016 it was designed to speed up executions hower governor newsom has put a halt to the death penalty during his tenure. the provisiofor prison transfers allows the death row inmates to join rehab programs and now families of victims who were killed by death row inmates are speaking out against this. >>in sneak out victims themselves not to mention their families now gift is being given to the individuals and kill children to kill police to kill multiple individuals and that's the gift of being reintegrated into in general population in given the opportunity to participate in work programs in rehabilitation programs. and that makes no sense tome. >>if prop 66 also increase the restitution for death row inmates from 50 to 70% so if
