in castro valley became to hayward for this opportunity to remember together. >> he signed a placard set up to honor those who were affected. >> he says he thinks about the attacks often because he spends time in new york city. he's part of the pyro crew that does the 4th of july celebration there every year that i've gone go to the memorial to very heavy feeling every time that i've gone there, you can feel like the lost souls, but he feels it's important to remember those lost and pray for their families. some believable. what had occurred. >> and still seems like unbelievable. reliving something that. >> it should never happen. marci santana says she spent the week watching documentaries about the tragedy. and it's given her a new perspective just like it really changed everyone's life. >> and i just feel bad about what happened after 2. >> mean, that's going to war.

seize flight 11 crashed into the world trade center's north tower. >> at 08:46am she remained on the phone with authorities relay critical information for almost 25 minutes. the san francisco fire police department joined forces saturday to remember, betty, on. >> and each person who perished t kerwin during saturday morning ceremony. san francisco fire called out the names of the 343 firefighters who lost their lives on 9.11. we keep this memory alive to honor those who lost their lives. to honor their families and to honor all of those that were impacted. they paid tribute with the ringing of the bell. it's a long tradition in the fire service which signifies the last call for firefighter, something we do any time. a firefighter passes away on duty. perry said their mother wondered why body never called home that morning before the crash. i told her that daddy. to which she. >> was trained to do. that. it

afar. >> at a bus driver drive us directly over to the side while in the 5 boroughs of new york city like here in brooklyn. the larger families of first responders convene phil ruffolo is a retired fdny captain. he was not on duty at the time of the first plane attack. but like everybody else and rescue too, ran to help. because the guys on duty had left the house with all of the equipment. they commandeered a city bus and headed straight down to lower manhattan. it's chaotic. >> the cloud is very dense arriving from brooklyn. they immediately hit the rubble of the collapsed tower. we all know what we have to do. it. search until we can search anymore. found a few members they were dead. >> john, the pala title and kevin o'rourke were 2 of the 7 members that day rescue 2 lost today. he found joy when he saw john's daughters and kevin's grandson, our friendships that are missed. and there's joy. because.

>> i look around the room and young ones have sprung up. that's a great thing. it's the the renewal of life. >> so on the morning that began with people from all walks of life privately going about their business has led to this 20 years down the road in most public display of grief, remembrance of who they were and hope always hope for better days to come for all of us. >> president biden recently declassified all government documents associated with 9.11. that is welcome news for many, many people who have been waiting for that to happen for a very long time.

the plane was headed for either the capitol building or the white house. but the passengers and the crew members on board overtook the hijackers sacrificing their own lives crashing the plane in a field in shanksville, pennsylvania. the plane originally was supposed to be headed for san francisco. one of the flight attendants on board was oakland. native want to green kron four's noelle bellow learned how she's now being remembered to 20 years later. >> we consider hero. appreciate that. people celebrate. one of year olds. we're quite 93, a flight attendant with united airlines for 29 years. wanda greene was one of the first african american flight attendants. >> with united a dedicated mother of 2 children and very active in the new jersey community you in which she lived. but her home town was oakland and on september 11, she planned to visit with her family on her layover from flight 93. but wanda and the

43 others on board that plane never made it. we're very proud of her and the other passengers. >> the tariffs and the night them use that planted the bomb heady and peace sundry swanson is want us cousin. he was also chief of staff for congresswoman barbara lee on 9/11/2000, one. >> he says the acts of all those on board flight 93 are an example of the courage of these passengers because of cell phones. what's happening. >> and they're very consciously made that decision. so take lying down. and now that the war really what else it was. these are all patriots. later we learned that flight 93 more than likely it was coming into the capitol. and so today i'm thinking especially of those heroes on flight 93. >> who has saved many lives because they took that plane congresswoman lee was inside the capitol that morning. she holds a special place in her heart for chief of staff's cousin want a green.

2 people are now behind bars in connection to a crazy and wild scene that happened overnight. oakland police say that 2 suspects we're at the scene of a shooting that happened along 85th street overnight in somehow when they were trying to get away. they actually ended up crashing into an oakland police unit injuring an officer that officer had to get taken to the hospital to get checked out. we're told the officer has since recovered and been released. so far there's no

word on exactly what led up to the shooting or if anyone was hurt. meanwhile, san jose police had a busy night. many of them responding to a very large sideshow. overnight. police posting this a video. they say that more than a 100 cars came to this particular scene in the area park avenue and was way. >> after officers shut down the issue, down more than 200 tickets in that area. toad 3 cars and arrested one person. police say the side show lasted less than an hour before police came through all the lanes and traffic in boxed in all of those cars. >> and coming up, find out what's in store for the 2nd half of your bay area weekend forecast. and also, if you plan on heading to the s

coastline and in the sierra. we're tracking calmer weather drier weather out there as well by sunday morning and afternoon, we are going to notice the northern parts of this with that cloud cover. but overall warmer temperatures, though. so. >> very similar to today and fortunately right now tracking so thanks to that change in wind direction. we are noticing an improvement with the smoke and haze there. but it's still going to linger sunday afternoon through monday afternoon. but we do get a little bit of a break during the early evening hours. and later into the night. so just keep that in mind by tuesday, though warming up into the low 80's for most of this year with temperatures out there still in the 70's for some of our warmest in our valleys in the east bay like livermore and conquered widespread low to mid 70's there. everyone else in the 60's, including san jose at 66 degrees low 60's. for those of you in oakland. but we're tracking that cool sea breeze along the coast, downtown san francisco and berkeley currently in the

upper 50's so that sea breeze not extending too. our innermost valleys just yet. but low to mid 60's for most of the north bay in san anselmo finally cooling down getting a little bit of that onshore westerly breeze influence their temperatures tomorrow. low 90's inland and then we're going to hold steady through monday and by tuesday warming up once again temperatures about 5 to 10 degrees above average mainly for inland valleys. we should be in the mid 80's. but instead tracking mid-nineties but holding steady along the coast and east bay shoreline with upper 60's to mid 70's there thanks to that marine layer influences jonathan, back to you. thank you. >> for your money tonight. california says it will be sending out yet another round of stimulus checks eligible californians will see the payments in their bank accounts or receive a check starting next week. the first batch of payments went out about 2 weeks ago. folks making less than $75,000 a year on their tax returns are eligible to receive $600 plus

firefighters climbed the equivalent of 110 flights of stairs during the tribute in full gear. the twin towers each standing 110 stories tall the owner of the job posting the video and welcome to first responders to his gym to honor the lives lost back in 2000. one, it's hard to talk about september 11th without bringing up the name rudy giuliani who was mayor of new york city at the time in the past 20 years. he has become a controversial political figure, but then he was known as america's mayor mary beth mcdade said down one-on-one with the former new york mayor as he shared his memories from one of the country's darkest days. >> giuliani recalls for us. the images from 9.11 that he could never get out of his mind. he also shares with us the moment that he realized that america was going to come back even stronger and not let the terrorists win. police commissioner called and said. >> second plane hit me said

boss. this is you know, the terror attack and he said they're not 9 chances out of 10. it's been a going on. >> as former new york city mayor rudy giuliani rushed down to the world trade center on 9.11. he learned a second plane hit the twin towers and it was most likely terrorist attack were war. >> my first reaction was that i i just turned into a field commander in a war as opposed to a mayor. he ordered the bridges and tunnels closed. >> and we got down to ground 0. he ran into his dear friend and much love fire department chaplain father michael judge judge like so many firefighters, first responders and police was racing towards a disaster as others fled for their lives. i realized what he was doing. >> things were coming down and hitting people that are getting hit knocked on the ground. some of those people died. he was admitted he was ministering to them. administering the last rites

giuliani realized it was bodies coming down that we're hitting and killing people. >> when the fire commissioner told him that judge it died. he suspected that was how mayor. >> we lost by the judge that carrying his body to saint peter's church of firefighters are crushed. i said, oh, my goodness. father judge was one of several good friends that giuliani last that fateful day. mister mayor, after all these years. >> what is one memory that you could never forget. all of a sudden. so a man standing 100. >> stories above. on the window sill. i think i felt what he was thinking. i probably guessed at it, which do i get burned into a job. >> and he jumped. he says that image still haunts him. i don't know if i think of it every day. if i could. sometimes 3, 4 times a day. he does have a moment, though, from that day that he looks back at with pride. the most wonderful thing was the simple symbolism of it was saying the

firefighters put the flag up. it would he says it reminded him of the men and women from the greatest generation. they got the same love of america. nobody's going to push him around the chair is can go. giuliani would go on to spend every day down to ground 0 until he left office some 2 and a half months later. >> helping new york and the nation emerge from the ashes. his leadership during one of his country's most challenging times earned him the nickname america's mayor by oprah winfrey. he says he would end every press conference on a positive note. >> i would say we're coming out of this because i wanted the people of my city to lift their eyes up. out of this. into the future because i was going to let those damp terror is beat us. giuliani says that it pains him some 20 years later that the taliban is back in control of afghanistan just like they were on 9.11. >> the taliban refused to hand

along the coast cooling down temperatures into the low to mid 50's for most of the bay area coastline. but tomorrow temperatures warming up. in fact, it's going to be a few degrees warmer from coast to bally's compare today with downtown san francisco warming up to 68 degrees mission district a degree cooler at 67 and mid 60's for daly city and half moon bay going to see more of that cool sea breeze to start your morning with plenty of sunshine and better clearing by the afternoon going to get more of that northwesterly flow clearing us out. temperatures in millbrae and burlingame warming up into the upper 70's with low 80's for san mateo and san carlos. so we're all going to be a few degrees above average from coast and even most of the east bay shoreline cupertino in san jose in the mid 80's. but campbell toasty temperatures there in the low 90's livermore, you should be in the mid 80's this time of year. but you're going to be slightly warmer than today. warming up to 92 degrees

hayward in the mid 70's and we're tracking mid 70's as well for oakland and berkeley richmond. those 78 degrees orinda and moraga mid 80's in concord and walnut creek about 10 degrees above average there at 92 degrees and taking a look ahead for your north bay forecast of allay and benicia in the mid 80's back in ville trying to flirt with that triple digit heat as his yacht bill. but 94 degrees with those of you in nevado and sandra fell in the upper 80's mill valley also tracking mild temperatures there in the mid 80's. so we are seeing for your next 7 day outlook. temperatures little changed sunday through monday. but then tuesday even warmer daytime highs, about 5 to 10 degrees above average for most of our inland valleys and then wednesday is going to be our transitional day before we start to cool down friday through saturday and we are going to notice, though. no major heat waves. no major storms of that monsoonal threat. so that is good news. and drier weather heading our
