>> from the bay area's local news station. you're watching kron. 4 news at 6. now at 6, a busy sports weekend in san francisco. people packing into the city tonight. >> as the warriors take on the grizzlies at chase center and at the same time, the giants honoring 3 time world series champion seven-time all-star buster posey, which means you can expect the city to be buzzing tonight. good evening and welcome to kron. 4 news at 6. i'm dan thorn and i'm noelle bellow. the dubs tipping off just a little bit ago. the giants first pitch was scheduled for 4.15, this afternoon. we've got full live team coverage for you tonight from all of this, kate rooney

and gayle ong live for us at the chase center both inside and out. as you can see, the wind really blowing there. >> outside the chase center and amanda hari is at oracle park this evening for us tonight as well. and we'll get to him and honoring buster posey in just a minute. but first, we want to get straight. >> to the dobbs kron. 4 sports reporter kate rooney beginning our team coverage there tonight. take 8. >> hey, dan. hey, noel. yes, so far things not exactly going the dubs way. they're trailing by 8 points right now in the 1st quarter of this game. but it's game 3 of the series with the memphis grizzlies, an emotional series so far, especially after gary payton, the second was knocked out with a brutal injury in the last game. he fractured his elbow and he's gonna miss a couple weeks, at least. but we've got a shout out, gary payton, because he's done a lot for this community. that's the button. the see me wearing right now. he is up for the nba. cares. community assist award. and so we've got to do something to make this poor guy happy. let's get him the votes that we need for him to

triplets are going to head down the street now to oracle park with the san francisco giants are taking on the st. louis cardinals. but the real show happened before the game. that's right. before the first pitch, the giants and the bay area baseball community honored buster posey, posey, retired at the end of last season. kron four's amanda hari is live at oracle park for us this evening. amanda, how are fans feeling out there? >> many fans told me they were excited to see buster posey back on the field today. but they were also sad because they say it is likely the last time they're going to see him down there. the giants honored him about an hour before first pitch. and even though it was early fans filled the stands to >> fans erupted into cheers as buster posey walked into oracle park one last time. i very sad. also like he had a great career yeti. family is

>> breezy winds continuing 20 to 30 miles per hour sustained winds and the slight chance of showers. so let's take a live look outside the bay bridge. pack your patients. a lot going on in downtown san francisco. not just the warriors game, but also the giants today. >> let's take a look temperatures out there right now. 50's along the san francisco peninsula coastline with half moon bay. 54 degrees. but flirting with 70's for those of you in antioch at 68 degrees. so nearly a 15 degree difference there and extremely breezy 20 to 30 mile per hour sustained winds with downtown san francisco, seeing wind speeds 32 miles per hour gusts upwards of 35 miles per hour. so the big weather story, a lot of pressure on the shoulders mother's day forecast. let's break it down sunday morning in the north bay. we're going to see some light scattered showers with that storm track making its way to the south and east for downtown san francisco at 11 o'clock in the morning. and then for fremont and san jose by around your noon lunch time

>> welcome back. mother's day is tomorrow. so you may be getting ready to spoil your mom. but before you go to over the top, a new survey actually says almost moms want is a card and some quality time. that's according to the finance website. lendingtree, according to a survey from them, americans will spend an average of $225 on gifts for mother's day this year. dad's bearing most of that burden spending an average of $361 as they often buy for the little ones as well. but mom say they actually don't need all of that in the survey. 36% of mothers say they just want a card. 32% say they just want quality time with their loved ones. as for the most common gift, 53% of kids give their mom flowers tomorrow. yes of flowers. topping the list of the most popular mother's day gifts this but you'll be

spending more to get those bouquets to mom. >> flowers are more expensive this year, not just because of inflation and supply chain issues, but because of a shortage in flower buds nationwide. officials at fedex is flower hub in the miami international airport say agents have been working around the clock to meet this high demand for flowers this mother's day. >> i you hear every day. we actually had to bring people in from around the country other states, specialists to help. but with the workload. >> that's mother's day. mother's day. the flower industry isn't the only one seeing an increase of buyers this year, according to the national retail federation's consumer survey, approximately 84% of americans will celebrate mother's day this weekend. 72% of consumers will give the traditional bouquet. 41 1% are giving jewelry, bringing the total spending to 31 0.7 billion dollars this year. ariza.

>> oakland police have released pictures of the 60 vehicles they tow during sideshows this week. police say they also issued 17 citations made 2 arrests and recovered one gun. opd says

the sideshows happened thursday night and friday morning on 5.80, with hundreds of vehicles being involved in this. police say this is an example of their increased enforcement and a message to people taking part in sideshows that it will not be tolerated in marin county. the investigation into the deadly plane crash that killed 2 people in the marin headlands continues today. investigators are still trying to figure out >> how exactly the plane went down and sure you can tell that it is here in this video is so foggy. they're also trying to figure out who was on board. there is a jesuit high school in sacramento that released a statement today saying the mother of one of their students and her friend were on board that aircraft. but officials have not yet confirmed their identities. camila barco has the latest. the weather conditions cleared up on saturday at marin headlands. >> helping crews remove that aircraft that crashed in the hills. fog made it very hard to locate the plane on friday. something investigators could take into account when

determining why the plane went down. >> saturday morning park rangers walked off a couple roadways and marin headlands as crews worked to remove a plane that crashed friday afternoon. the personal aircraft barely visible in this video as heavy fog blanketed the hills. the plane carrying 2 people inside crash near slackers. he'll just northwest of the golden gate bridge. the ring county sheriff's office says the plane crashed at 12. 0, 09:00pm strangely, the plane's emergency beacon did not activate until 2 minutes after the plane crashed. the beacon is a radio transmitter used in emergencies to locate planes and people in need of rescue crews located the plane 2 hours later on a steep hillside away from roads or trails. officials say the heavy fog at the time made it difficult to find the aircraft. the 2 people inside

the plane died at the scene. their names have not been released yet. officials say an autopsy will be conducted early next week, which could help determine the cause of the crash. details about where this plane was flying to and from have not been made available. >> we'll be staying on top of this story as we get more information in marin county, camila barco kron. 4 news. >> take a look at this vehicle. police say it rolled over this afternoon off brian highway near bruns road. it was the only vehicle involved and despite the damage done to it, the driver walked away with just minor injuries. no word on what caused that crash. all right. let's get a look at our 4 zone forecast taking a live look over the golden gate bridge is we're looking into the north bay. >> doesn't appear to be as as foggy as as we've been seeing lately. it was extremely foggy yesterday. obviously we're talking about the plane crash and how foggy it was. it definitely looked like it cleared up. got so much today.

a recent that wind is it sticking around for a while? yeah, even through tomorrow as well. so yeah, we've been noticing a little bit a great pattern. nice to see the sun coming out, at least for the 1st half of the weekend. >> we are tracking some changes, though, in the extended forecast. the storms to our north, the first one going to arrive for your mother's day. so we are going to track hit or miss showers in the north bay, mainly but we are also going to see the threat of pop up thunderstorms monday and tuesday of this upcoming week. it is going to be a cold core storm with temperatures 5 to 15 degrees below average monday into tuesday, breezy winds as well dropping snow levels for highest peaks down to 3,000 feet. so we could even see a fresh dusting of snow. so let's take a look at futurecast for because >> we're going to notice very light scattered hit or miss showers. most of us really just tracking traces amount of rain. the one thing we're really going to notice is the cool weather and we are do are going to see possible threat of pop up thunderstorms monday into tuesday as those

scattered showers continue for your monday afternoon and tuesday afternoon. going to be on the light side. so here's a look at sunday's rain totals. we're tracking about a 10th of an inch of rain or less. for those of you in the north bay. traces amount for everyone else and then nearly double with that storm monday into tuesday. so not going to be a big rainmaker, but it is going have a very unstable core. hence the threat of pop up thunderstorms. so right now tracking cool temperatures. mid 50's of peace for downtown san francisco in half moon bay. 54 degrees there and widespread low to mid 60's. as you make your way inland with overnight lows tonight, low to mid and upper 40's could see some patchy frost forming for north bay valleys in napa and santa rosa. so keep that in mind. temperatures 5 to 10 degrees below average upper 50's to low 60's for most of our inland valleys and even along the coast in cool weather for the next couple of days until we warm up flirting with 90's a week from today. so quite the roller coaster ride and well, back to you. murray said thank you. coming

seven-time all-star with the giants. he came out to a huge roar from the fans, numerous teammates as well. former manager bocce, barry bonds and many more came out to honor him today. busters 2 oldest children, lee and addie threw out the first pitch to their dad and buster still looks like he's got it behind the plate. the tribute ended with posey's former closer, none other than brian wilson getting one more celebrity from buster. they've done that a few times over the years. >> all right. how about the a's trying to snap a 7 game losing streak in minnesota against the james kaprielian was really good for oakland giving up only 3 hits and striking out 7 over 5, 2 thirds innings. but so was his counterpart. former a's pitcher sonny gray. gave up 2 hits and struck out 7 in 4 innings of work. we go to the bottom of the 6 scoreless whincup really and made his only mistake of the date.
