boy, a student at the school was arrested for allegedly using racial slurs in a group chat with other students online and allegedly threatening to shoot a school employee who students say is a teacher. fremont. police say the boy also threatened to open fire at another school scared of my life like because like sitting in texas to the district superintendent notified families, a student was arrested wednesday. cameron jackson son is a junior at the high school and both viewed screenshots of the social media exchange tuesday. he's frustrated that the school district didn't act quicker and did not notify families earlier. he says it's ugly. he is the one who alerted police say word was used over 20 times. >> there's a derogatory word fixing to of the asian community. they were homophobic slurs as well. police say they searched the arrested students home and did not find the gun kids at all. just good. but i did not us.

>> parents, fear and frustration grows as minutes tick with the active shooter. still inside, the school has already about an hour and gets it done out. among the parents demanding answers about why it took so long to stop the shooter. this man we're seeing >> lehman longer rest. he was one of the parents waiting outside while his daughter was one of the 19 students killed the rush in. and like, i know that that that we did see that. for me. that leaves the house a week. you know. and very heard the authorities gave an updated timeline about their response. they say at 11:28am. the suspected shooter crashes. his grandmother struck near the school. >> hops out with the long arm rival and a bag of ammunition, then opens fire on 2 people. he encounters. he continues walking. >> towards the school offense. now he's in the parking lot.

>> shooting at the school at 11, 40 enters a school walks down the hall and barricades himself inside to adjoining classrooms. authorities say 4 minutes later, local police and school district police make entry into the school to hear gunfire. >> they take rounds. they move back. get cover. he says additional resources and technical teams are called in while the rest of the school is evacuated. approximately an hour later. u.s. border patrol. tactical teams arrive. they make interest. shoot and kill the suspect. >> they also clarified that no arm school district officer was on the premises when the shooter entered the school. you may recall the suspect shooting rampage began around 11 that morning when he allegedly shot his grandmother and her uvalde home where he also lived but heard the bullets. >> going. you know, it started right in front. you know. so

you take all. >> his grandmother's neighbor helped rescue her and then the lady came on. >> a little you huge. they were here. you know, you didn't take very long. >> well, a new gun control bill in california has passed the assembly and is now headed to the senate. the bill would allow private citizens along with state and local governments to sue gun manufacturers and sellers. if they violate the state's assault weapons ban or other control measures. supporters are hoping the lawsuits will hold gun makers accountable and push them to be more responsible. the bills actually modeled after newly passed anti-abortion law in texas that allows private citizens to sue anyone getting an abortion after 6 weeks of pregnancy. >> so the family of one of the victims in the vta mass shooting is taking the transit agency to core. his family

says the vta did not do enough to prevent the largest mass shooting in bay area history. kron four's rob nesbitt has that story for us. >> an attorney for the lane family says the vta its security should have seen the warning signs that the employee who shot and killed 9 people was capable of doing so when the stories of mass shootings make headlines, the deadliest one in bay area history comes to mind. today marks one year since vta employee samuel james cassidy opened fire in a rail yard of san jose civic center neighborhood killing 9 men and then himself. nicholas rallies, an attorney for the family of one of those victims, lars kepler lane. you know, the father, the husband that we all want to have in our family. she was a hard-working, wonderful man. lane's family is suing the vta. >> claiming the authority failed to act when cassidy showed signs of insubordination and had 4 separate altercations with co-workers, everybody. you know who work with that guy and the supervisors knew that there was a fear. that this

man would go. postal vta had entered a contract with the santa clara county sheriff's office and universal protection service to provide security. raleigh says the 2 failed to carry out proper security screening, surveillance and risk mitigating measures. he was a lot of carrying a duffel bag with enough guns and ammo, not bullets to kill everybody. to kill. almost 400 people that were there. the says they are honoring those who died one year ago. their statement saying in part the tea's focusing on the continued healing of our employees and the families of our deceased co-workers. tragically, we are also mourning loss of the dozens of other victims of hate filled massacres that have happened throughout the nation. >> we will address lawsuit claims at a more appropriate time. raleigh says the lawsuit has been filed with santa clara county superior court. he expects a jury trial to begin within a year to year and a half. the santa clara county sheriff's office says no official comments due to a pending litigation. i also reached out to allied

univfrsal, the parent organization for universal protection service but not heard back. i'm rob nesbitt kron. 4 news. >> on average, 3 people are hit by a car while walking every day in san francisco. and according to a local nonprofit, the number one reason is speed walk. san francisco and san francisco bay area families for safe streets held a vigil at the site of a fatal accident where a mother and daughter took their last steps on sunday. it was at 3rd and mission. they were struck by a car. the memorial brought attention to all 10 pedestrian deaths that have happened this year by people just trying to cross the streets of san francisco. the group is calling on the city to do 3 things to improve the situation. firstly, they want to do it for slower speed limits on certain streets and redesign them to discourage speeding. secondly, they want to add no turn on red signs as well as red light cameras and pedestrian safety zones. and 3rd better prioritize safety above all else. in designing streets going forward, especially in areas with
