parade that took over downtown san francisco today and here on kron 4. we have you covered with all the action. thank you so much for joining us here during kron. 4 news at 3. i'm justine waldman. dubnation showed up and showed out for the warriors today that team, well, they've been partying since they won on thursday. but today fans got to party with them way lined up along the parade route as early as 4.30, this morning. so they get their spot there on market street. upwards of 1 million people were expected to be out there on the streets. they could cheer on the dubs. there were fans from all parts of the bay area and well beyond, including as far as texas and canada. we're looking at the pictures of the trolleys that went down the street, the street cars. the weather was just perfect for today. the only showers out there where the champaign variety courtesy of players like draymond green. the parade route was just about a mile long that started at the ferry building. it ended at market and a street players. they actually

got off their buses and were interacting with the fans that were lined up there on the street. got a raise. e even head coach steve kerr got off his bus at one point to give high-fives sign autographs. there are a lot of selfies being taken. this is the team's 4th championship in 8 years. but this is the first since they moved to san francisco and the first parade in san francisco. and it was. quite the party. and before the parade even kicked off, the entire team was on stage in front of the ferry building, talking about the season and all their let's listen now to mvp steph curse. steve kerr stephan curry speech. >> like when you were as emotional as ever seen. you. we cried on the court. that obviously was the end of cries on the basketball crime is asked tell us about being overwhelmed a

back having a services goes. let's get that. >> and they did it. our team coverage of the parade begins right now with kron four's kylen mills. >> so much excitement here at the start of the parade route market and drum streets. fans started showing up at 6 o'clock this morning. preparations were underway long before that fans lining the streets here ready for this parade to take off. once it did. it did not disappoint the players. coaching staff everyone so excited having so much fun celebrating with the fans and getting to interact with the fans throughout this parade route. one special moment right before the parade stepped off, shooting guard klay thompson got off his bus, started running the streets here with the trophy in hand, stopping to take selfies, high fiving dabbing up fans as he went along. they were going crazy. they were loving it. thompson is going through so much the last 2 years dealing with back to back injuries, a torn acl and torn achilles,

both extremely difficult injuries to recover from. he said that this season means so much more to him because of the adversity he has faced. and also because of the adversity, this warriors group is faced. >> to be able to come here today to celebrate this championship and all he's overcome means so much. and it was so clear with all of the emotions he was showing as he ran the streets of san francisco, truly, truly enjoying the moment with fans. another player who got off the bus right at the start before they even hit the parade route was gary payton. the second shirtless started walking the streets as people were chanting gp 2 dabbing fans up just a really great opportunity for doug nation to take part in the celebrations in to get up close and personal with some of their favorite players. now things are wrapped up. fans get to go home and bask in this championship until next season from san francisco. kylen mills kron. 4 news >> oh, yeah. let's do it again. dubnation got showered in blue and gold confetti

endure eby warriors championship rally. the team took a moment to honor all central members of dub nation. >> including the medical staff, the security, the front office members. it takes a village in order for them to reach this point. so they honored all the people that work behind the scenes to make sure that, you know, we get another championship, we can have another parade this time next year. more parade coverage in a minute. but there was a wild weekend full of illegal sideshows in the city of santa rosa. police received close to 400 sideshow related calls over the past 2 days. kron four's spoke to police about the latest in this now ongoing investigation.

>> in this video, you see it illegal sideshow over 200 spectators and in the distance, a vehicle engulfed in flames. it started saturday at around 11:00pm, but the city of santa rosa, that is when first reports of vehicles beginning to gather came santa rosa police from that point on into early sunday morning, there were a total of 7 illegal sideshows. yeah, that is a lot. usually once we start to disperse them out of areas and leaving the city. >> this time decided to go from the south side to the east side. back to the west side, santa rosa police side to christopher bell says officers could barely catch their breath before having to respond to another sideshow across town. and that was the moving target basically. >> on to. >> actually what sounded like a vehicle explosion turned out to be illegal. fireworks and gunshots. yeah. so for sure. we did hear gunfire and

fireworks once they got to the west side of town. by the time it was over, there were reports of people being assaulted. firefighters being surrounded, having their fire trucks being slower by sideshows, spectators 2 vehicles catching on fire after participating in sideshows in 2 different parts of the city. >> no arrests no vehicles impounded. but santa rosa police say that video evidence is playing a key role in the investigation. and if we identify any of the vehicles, their license plates will go into a local a statewide database of any office in the state of california. stop them. their vehicle impounded wherever they were contacted. >> and then the suspect associate with the other will be arrested. anyone with information is asked to contact santa rosa police in santa rosa haaziq kron. 4 news. >> we do have developing news out of this afternoon where one person is dead after an officer-involved shooting. the solano county sheriff's office sent out a tweet on sunday night saying that it received a call for assistance from the

police regarding a traffic accident involving a person armed with a knife. all we know now is that the victim was shot and later died. we are working to get more information on this developing story. we'll bring you more details as soon as they come into the kron. 4 news room. cal fire's union is saying it is facing a staffing crisis in the midst of fire season about 10% of its work force quit last year with wildfires burning longer and more intense, physical and mental fatigue is impacting crews on the front lines. union leaders say that shifts used to be 72 hours a week and now they can become 30 to 50 days without a single break. well, if you plan to be in the sierra the summer, the u.s. forest service is warning of a toxic algae in lake tahoe. the areas to look out for include keep the beach and taylor creek. both are in south lake health officials warn the shallow pools and slow-moving water promote the growth of this algae which can lead to

today we are in the mid 70's for areas like michigan and financial district. it's going to be a really nice one in san francisco, some 60's 70's right along the coastline. some of our most comfortable weather and a good dose of sun right along the coastline today. high temperatures along the bay shore, some of our most comfortable south san francisco in millbrae, for example, in the mid 70's. well, you had from burlingame south, down towards mountain view and well eventually into the south bay. that's where you're running into a range of upper 80's to even low 90's. saratoga in los gatos at 90 degrees each today, san jose all the way up to 88 degrees award last day of spring hayward, union city and fremont warm. but looks better than more in pleasanton in the low 90's. same for danville, walnut creek and concord. each also into the low 90's today, oakland, right at 80 degrees for your daytime high. and then our hot spot today, pittsburgh at 95 degrees. filet o a warm 86 degrees. not as warm as tomorrow is about to be but still getting up there. santa rosa nearing 90

bridges fastrak toll increase. $0.35 from 85 to 8.40, one-time tolls increase from 8 68, 80 carpool rates 6, 0, 5, to 6.40. we do have more details on our website. kron 4 dot com. if you want to check it out. as far as how much we're going to be paying and new at 3 o'clock state lawmakers are forming a special committee to investigate the skyrocketing gas prices. this is coming as californians are paying nearly 40% more for gas. then they were just 4 months ago. kron four's ashley zavala explains the new effort. >> the announcement of this committee comes as state lawmakers and governor gavin newsom continue to negotiate relief promised in response to those rising gas prices months ago. this group wants to look into long-term responses to the prices you're seeing at the pump. >> californians need more than band aid relief from high gas prices. assembly speaker anthony rendon's announcing the new select committee on gas supply and prices to

determine if californians are being priced out at the pump. democratic assembly member jacqui irwin will lead the bipartisan committee asked the question on everybody's mind. why do gas prices continue to rise? and that is exactly the mission of this committee. gas prices in california are hovering at around $6.40 per gallon. according to aaa, lawmakers know the price of oil has fallen. that does not track. >> with where the gas prices are at the pump. the formation of the committee comes as governor newsom and state lawmakers continue to negotiate the logistics of sending direct payments back to taxpayers for relief. both sides say talks were productive over the weekend, but still no deal. yet the govdrnor's proposal would send $400 debit cards to car owners. well, the legislative proposal would send $200 checks to those making less than $125,000 on those have different but it will be certain certainly something before october republicans and some democrats have been calling for a suspension of the state's $0.51 gas tax and

a halt to the $0.3 inflationary increase to the tax set to go into effect in less than 2 weeks in response to monday's announcement assembly republican leader james gallagher said in a statement in part, the price of gas has been crushing family budgets for months. californians don't need another dead end study. they need relief now. a date has not yet been set for this committee's first hearing. meanwhile, state lawmakers will be on a month long break from the state capitol starting july first and it's unclear if this committee will meet during that time. >> reporting at the state capitol. ashley zavala kron. 4 news. >> the timeline given by the uvalde police department on the deadly robb elementary school shooting is changing yet again. a source now says surveillance video shows police never tried to open the door to a classroom where a gunman killed. 21 people also uvalde city officials are using a legal loophole to prevent the release of police records related to the shooting. it's called the dead

market street as so many of you ventured into the city for the warriors parade in what wonderful weather to be doing. so all that sunshine in san francisco and not a little breezy there. what a welcome sight. we're seeing a few clouds mostly staying right along the coastline today, the last day of spring tomorrow welcoming the summer with increased marine layer along the coast. but temperatures inland pushing upwards really going to be a hot one tomorrow. take a look at where temperatures are heading. so today we are in the mid 70's for areas like michigan and financial district. it's going to be a really nice one in san francisco, some 60's 70's right along the coastline. some of our most comfortable weather and a good dose of sun right along the coastline today. high temperatures along the bay shore, some of our most comfortable south san francisco in millbrae, for example, in the mid 70's. well, you had from burlingame south, down towards mountain view and well eventually into the south bay. that's where you're running into a range of upper 80's to even low 90's. saratoga in los gatos at 90 degrees each today, san jose all the way up to 88 degrees

line there from the low 70's today to some upper 70's tomorrow. that's your beach day for the coast. after that, temperatures will gradually decline. and it's right back to the seasonal averages for your first weekend of summer by friday, saturday and sunday. back to you. >> all right, check this out. a fire truck got caught in a sinkhole left the engine stuck in this collapse pavement. this happened in orange county. the roadway suddenly crumbled underneath the truck and it swallowed the front and firefighters were still on board. thankfully, no one was injured after all the running water in that parking lot was shut off. a tow truck was able to pull the fire engine out of the hole. and to safety. a day out on the water when south with a yacht caught on fire. this happened on saturday afternoon in new hampshire. one of the passengers said that they noticed black smoke on that 70 foot boat. and then within a matter of minutes, the whole thing was on fire. all 3 passengers along with 2
