breaking down everything else you got to do for the rest of this week's forecast leading to mother's day. still to come. >> thanks a lot, john. 10. 0, 1, and another big story is starting today. you got to have the real id to fly domestically and less youve got a passport and this is causing an extra weight through security screening. this morning covers will tran is live at sfo with a look at what's going on. will. >> right now, it has really picked up in intensity as far as the travelers. hopefully they either had the real id or a passport or some other form of id and all laid out for you in just a few moments. otherwise you will be asked to step out of this line and go to another line is though you lost all of your i d on a vacation. they will cheat. you just like that. and even then there's no guarantee that you will be able to fly today. as far as the real id. that's the federal government's requirement for states that issue the state id like a

driver's license. it basically means it's more vetted. you have to go through all kinds of processes to make sure that you are who you are and they've been trying to do this post 9.11 in today's the day. we got a chance to talk to some of the travelers this morning. here's one traveler on whether or not she's ready to go. have a passport and challenging little basket because i haven't actually gotten my real id. >> i don't know about get it as long as we can use this to travel because i just don't feel the need at this point. probably when they renew my license, rain will be. that particular passenger. he does not need his real id, but there could be a time when only real id's are excepted. the federal government did say they will make a decision down the road. in the meantime, take a look at your screen. these are some of the other forms of id. >> that will be accepted if you have not gotten your id already. and that includes the

u.s. passport. there's veterans health id, then department of defense, which basically means you're a military member. and if you are legal permanent resident of nice states, you can show that form of identification as well. keep in mind if you have children under 18 years old, didn't don't need to rushed to dmv to get a real id for that particular person. they're good to go as far as what's going to happen during a they will pull you to the side. ask you, who are you prove it? like i said as though you lost all of your id on a vacation and that's why they say it's going to take extra time and said 2 hours that they always advise, they say 3 hours to get to the airport. >> and you know, well, i know that the latest tech people say they're working on a world id with our eyeball that we wanted it in the future. we want anything. but our eye. yes, that would be great because i forget a lot of things. but in the meantime,

>> you better have that california bear. and then? yeah, i think i heard you say a little bit earlier. you better have a california bear on the upper left. excuse me, upper right hand corner of your driver's license. yeah. all right. thanks. a lot will have to travel 10. 0, 4, right now. new this morning. we now know the name. >> unhoused man who police say stabbed a san jose police officer in the arm that officers recovering in the hospital. san jose police say it was 41 year-old ellie scott who now faces attempted murder charges along with other charges. they say that he ettered a target store and was seen waving a machete at a security guard at the target. this was yesterday afternoon at coleman and taylor streets. and then he took off left the store and was later arrested at a nearby encampment. and that is where he stabbed an officer in the arm. the officer is expected to be okay. and the mayor says this is just an example of the fact that this target has been bothered by a house people in

really the unhoused people in general need more attention. >> can't do is continue to allow people to deteriorate on our streets with serious addiction and victimize others in the community. >> he was booked into the santa clara county jail right now. and the mayor says that for his part, what they're trying to do to improve the situation is they're adding 1400 shelter beds and safer sleeping sites this year as well as continuing sweeps of major encampments. 2 men are recovering in thhospal after they were st in oakland yesterday about 04:30pm, in the afternoon on franklin street. and police are still looking for a suspect. the city of orinda is expanding its network of license plate readers. the council just approved buying 15 extra canada cameras. and that's in addition to the 19 that are already around town. 7 are run by the city and the others are privately paid for

been missing now for 7 days. it was last thursday. she went hiking with friends of the windy hill. open space preserve. and they've got about 80 people still searching for her. her name is margaret elaine mckinley. and that picture showed you what she was wearing the day, the hike. so at least we know she has the red. she did have that red puffy on hiking with her partner and a friend. and then they got separated about a quarter mile from the trailhead. >> she is in pretty good physical shape. but she has alzheimer's. so they're very concerned about her. the volunteers are staying hopeful. >> missing hikers have been located, you know, even a week after they've gone missing. and so this continues to be a search operation and the volunteers are very energized and hopeful. everyone is personally invested in finding elaine and also the sheriff's office is asking anybody who lives in that area. >> to review your surveillance video around your home because maybe she passed by. the trump

administration wants more money from congress for immigration crackdown. house committee cross-examined the homeland security secretary over how it she you would use the money. and our dc correspondent jessi takes a look. dhs secretary kristi noem says a lot of the new money would go toward mass deportations. >> but democrats continue to argue the trump administration is already misusing funds for that. >> we have literally millions of illegal aliens that have overstayed homeland security. secretary kristi noem is asking congress for a major funding boost to continue the trump administration's mass deportations and border security efforts considering the amount of people that are in this country illegally, many of them perpetuating crimes. we need the resources to continue doing what president trump has promised the american people. president trump's budget calls for a 65% increase in funding for his immigration crackdown, including billions for the border wall and additional border patrol agents. it's

in the city of santa rosa is considering major cuts to fire stations. >> as part of a proposed 8% cut to all city department budget for the fire department. that would mean about 4.5 million dollars of cuts and include getting rid of a fire truck and slashing a few administrative positions as well. and it would mean the transfer of 12 firefighters to another station. the firefighters union says that those cuts would threaten public safety. >> 2 trucks is already understaffed. we only have 10 engines, which is also under staff. so. >> the concern is if this goes through this way, we we lose the ability to do our job safely and effectively. and, you know, in our line of work, what does that mean that put lives at risk? >> the discussions about the budget will continue. today. the santa rosa city council will then vote on the budget on june, 17th. 3 women from

oakland are charged with trafficking, fentanyl and methamphetamine in san francisco is tenderloin neighborhoods as well as using a minor for their drug activities. this comes from a month-long investigation by the san francisco police into purchases of illegal drugs from the 3 women and so they were arrested after a search of the car department turned up about 120 grams of fentanyl and thousands of dollars in cash. new this morning, a man from ohio faces life in prison if he's convicted of strangling this. 24 year-old woman. >> whom he met in a san jose bar 48 years ago. he's 69 now. >> and his name is willie. eugene sims. he was only arrested after they tied him to fingerprints that were found way back then on the victim's pack of cigarettes she disappeared last seen after leaving the lion's den bar back in 1977. and then her body was found in her car the

next he is currently awaiting extradition to california. oakland's interim mayor is just releasing now the official budget plan for the next 2 fiscal years. and the proposal calls for 2 firehouses to be closed on a rotating basis. kron four's dan kerman takes a closer look. oakland fire stations. 25 28 are slated to reopen before the end of june. >> 2 other firehouses will close as part of the rotating brownouts proposed in interim mayor kevin jenkins budget for the next 2 fiscal years. i am definitely hopeful that we find some finds and funds to lessen the impact all year is president of firefighters. union local 55. he says he knows without the passage of sales tax there would be even more fire stations closed, but he remains disappointed. the proposal calls for 2 fire houses to remain out of service and definitely understand the idea that without that money would be a

lot and i can appreciate perspective. but my goal, i know the chiefs goes to reopen every single firehouse in the city because it's what opened usually deserve. i'm really gratified that the mayor. >> prioritize public safety by including 3 police academies each year and also reducing the number of fire stations that we currently have closed. i personally would like to try figure out a way to reduce that number of closures. even further city councilmember zac unger, a former firefighter himself since the mayor's proposed budget is a good start. but he hopes he and his colleagues on the city council can find a way to reduce the number of fire station closures. open is incredibly fire-prone city. we have a multitude of fire problems. everything from a port to wild land to underground train station. we need to open those fire stations in order to keep our citizens safe and also to provide the medical care that so many people depend on, especially the most vulnerable in our community. for her part, mayor-elect barbara lee says the budget proposal. this is a step in the right direction towards a safer and

cleaner city. when i'm sworn in as mayor later this month, i will be working with my team to review areas of concern including oakland's expenditures in obligations and the impact of rotating brownouts of 2 fire stations. again, it's up to the city council now to review this proposed budget make changes it deems necessary and then approved this final budget by june. 30th. dan kerman kron. 4 news a nonprofit is going to be overseeing a grant worth nearly 4 million dollars to the west oakland community fund in an effort to support. >> economic development entrepreneurs, environmentalist and educators will have access to those funds. and there's a grant that will be managed. the foundation will award roughly $500,000 annually until the funds run out. san francisco supervisor allowed mahmoud of district 5 says that there is a grocer who's interested in moving in to the safeway that

closed on fillmore district that building at that close back in february faced a lot of opposition from the community because they were like, know, now there's no safe way close by for us to walk to and they do want to lose that. there was a post on x where the supervisor announced that his office has interest from several grocery stores, including smart and final. 4,000 pounds of litter and discarded objects have been removed from the bottom of richardson bay. they did this during a week-long marine debris removal effort. scuba divers got out there and technical experts and they removed a whole bunch of different objects from richardson bay. 2 small boats. we're told out several outboard engines, portable generators, bunch of and the motor oil and fuel containers. some of the things that they recovered. and if there's in fact, they say there's so much debris that it's blocking efforts to replant yield grass, which is a critical
