flame thrower to catch them on fire cover. join hoda is live if it does go with more what happened and then also the response here in the bay area. joey? >> it's arya. we have just confirmed that local synagogues here in the bay area are now beefing up their security as a direct result of this latest attack in boulder, colorado. take a look at this new mug shot. suspect in this attack. 45 year-old bahamas. solomon, who is undocumented immigrant from egypt, according to the white house, authorities say he's been charged with first-degree murder, although they have not confirmed any deaths from this attack. investigators say he targeted a group called run for their lives, drawing attention to israeli hostages in gaza. investigators say solomon again targeted back through witnesses say he yelled free palestine and set some of the victims on fire with a flame thrower. 4 men and 4 women range in age from 52 to 88. >> right now, 2 of them are

>> it's 10, 0, 2, and also happening today, the man arrested for an accident that killed in oakland teacher is in court today. investigators say that eric hernandez garcia was behind the wheel of a car that ended up crashing up on the sidewalk, killing the councilman high school teacher kron four's will tran is live in alameda county now with more on the court appearance will. >> the 18 year-old man should go before a judge sometime before the end of the day. he actually went before the judge on friday decided that he wanted his own attorney, which is why they said come back on monday. in the meantime, ever since wednesday evening, he's been at santa rita jail after being arrested, accused of killing a man and severely injuring his girlfriend. this all happened on wednesday evening when the 2 it out just rolling minding their own business through the streets of oakland when the chp spotted hernandez garcia's

stolen car, they tried to pursue him. it got so dangerous even for them that they called off the pursuit continue following him with their helicopter where he eventually made his way onto the surface streets. and according to the chp, they would then notified at his location once again, but not before he's plows into 2 people. one of them actually was a teacher at councilman high school just 2 days away from about to celebrate his students graduation. in he dies at the scene. his name is doctor marvin boomer. they ultimately arrested hernandez garcia. but you can imagine just how painful it was for the entire community. the very next day they had a vigil. then on friday they had the graduation ceremony where they honored. >> dr boomer recently got his doctorate as far as hernandez garcia. he has been charged with multiple felony charges,

including but he kular manslaughter hit and run and evading police officers. >> back to you. all right. thanks a lot. we'll 10. 0, 4, is the time right now. and >> right now, wildfire smoke from canada is drifting into the bay area. maybe a smell that i know i did. this is prompting an air-quality advisory for today and tomorrow, hazy skies and you could smell the smoke as possible from the north bay east bay, the peninsula and the air quality may become unhealthy, especially if you have compromise breathing, like, you know, if you have a respiratory condition, asthma or if you're extra young kids, you should beware of seniors as well. officials are urging you if you do have any sensitivity to bad air, you might want to stay indoors if possible. use a are filter. there is no spare. the air alert in effect because of this. but the conditions could change quickly. so we'll keep you posted on that. and also, there is an air quality advisory. this is separate and

this is because of a flaring that happened at the chevron refinery in richmond. so that's where this problem, as you can see, the black smoke coming from this fire at the facility. and that was saturday at 03:00pm. but still they're concerned about the air quality of the bay area. air district is saying the smoke could affect people in richmond. san pablo put all her carries hercules and parts of solano county. some residents are really concerned about this. >> when you like that, bowing you see something in place, especially refinery. you know, you think like they can explode and if it does explode, we're right here. so it's a constant kind of like stressor like fear. frail. happened. >> and health officials say that this smoke just like when we're talking about smoke from fires, it's just it can be difficult to breathe, especially if you have compromised respiratory system. if you're extra young children and seniors who should be careful and again, keep the windows and doors closed, if that's a problem for you, as far as the

refineries response, they gave us a statement saying, quote, our workforce worked quickly to minimize and stop the flaring. the safety of our workforce and our communities and the environment. our our highest priorities. >> it's 10. 0, 6 and san jose is cracking down on dangerous driving after another person was hit and killed last week. so in august, the city is going to activate red-light cameras at 4 major intersections as part of a one-year pilot program and drivers that run those red lights could face a $486 fine. and then there's another program that's going to watch this fall targeting speeders with dozens of citywide cameras in the east bay. if you get a text that asked for payment for an unpaid traffic ticket from alameda superior court. that's not from them. they don't ask for money that way. they say this is a scam that's been happening recently. people getting these text messages saying that you

also find in the inland east bay 60's to 70's along the east bay shoreline with berkeley at 67 castor value. i-76 degrees pittsburgh up to vacaville hanging out in the 80's with santa rosa at 71. let's look ahead in next 7 days. temps tomorrow will be identical to those of today. we will see a slight warm up starting on thursday and into the weekend. daria. >> thanks a lot, john. 10, 16 right now and a fire happened in an empty commercial building in mountain view. and you can see the damage done here from this blaze that broke out around 7 o'clock yesterday morning. it's a single story office building near wellston, al camino real and san antonio road and with the fire crews got there. the fire was burning through the roof. so to knock it down, they cut through the roof and through the walls, nobody was hurt and they got that fire out. they think it started actually from the outside of the building. for the second day in a row. somebody had to be rescued from a cliff and battery crosby trail. this

happened on sunday. rescuers airlifted the person around 2 in the afternoon off of the cliff and the day before on saturday, another person had to be rescued from the same location locally. and thankfully both of those people were not seriously injured. a boat that was going to be launched on lake tahoe is now in quarantine after inspectors found and invasive golden mussels on that boat. they made the discovery friday at alpine meadows in spectrum station. and it's the first time this invasive species was was found on a boat in lake tahoe. thanks to the inspections that boat never enter the water. there have been no discoveries of golden mussels actually in lake tahoe, but they have gained a foothold in the sacramento san joaquin delta. a massive bill that will provide or could provide tax cuts as well as cuts to major federal programs, including medicaid and food assistance. it's now in the hands of the u.s. senate, our dc correspondent

there's this new study and it says the states that increase your insurance rate the most after a speeding ticket in california is in the top 3, north carolina, the average premium cost is $2000 and they have the highest rate increase after a ticket that their rates go up by 49%. and that's because they are state controlled rate increase. there. ranking second is wyoming, which was a 40% increase after speeding ticket and california ranks. 3rd, you get caught speeding and your insurance rate. we'll go up. 39 1%. so it's going to cost you more than that speeding ticket. also for your money, workers tend to love a four-day workweek. and now companies are getting on board as well for employees, the benefits of a four-day workweek are well, obviously less burnout. maybe improvement in your mental health and your physical health as well. and for employers, there are some
