>> battle lines are being drawn in a north bay school district. this comes as camel. pius union high school district voted to cut contracts to 2 employees who work for the black students. success support team. this is a school that's been plagued by racial incidents and now parents, students staff members are. >> pledging to fight kron four's terisa stasio reports. >> not backing down. we've been telling them all year. don't put this program on thursday morning about 100 people held signs and taped posters to speak out about upcuts to the black student support team and pius high school. i'm hoping that they'll see that this is really meaningful to the students and the entire community on hand with the 2 employees at the center of the cots, paul austin and to miesha tate austin. >> it shows that the community cares about our children. i think that the children need to see this is really important that this work continues, right? we're just started.

>> on tuesday, that highest union high school district board slashed their jobs stating that the contract positions were not sustainable. in a statement to kron 4, the board president defended the action by saying, quote, a majority of the board found that mr. austin and this tape, austin, we're doing the same work as district employees and at a value not fair and reasonable because their pay was far greater than market rate for comparable work. they were not providing specialty services. therefore they did not meet the qualifications for government entity, consultant and quote, yet another board member sent kron 4. this statement, quote. >> i fully support the work that has been done by the b s s s t and believe that renewing the contracts of tunisia, tate and paul austin is critical unless someone year the program has shown remarkable success and the data shows that are black students are feeling support. it and are finding academic

some thunderstorms popping up again over the sierra nevada making for an active afternoon that our low pressure that's been kind of spiraling down to southern california, starting to slowly move eastward, but not done yet. in fact, still some strong storms out there yet just the east of vegas. you get toward the milwaukee area and you're talking about some heavy storms, some of the rainfall over there, but an inch to have already in spots. and so the potential for some flash flooding continuing there. plus, like the valley of fire on those there in desert areas looking for the potential for some flooding in those locations this evening. meantime, around the bay area, we're talking temperatures going to be pretty pleasant as we head toward friday afternoon. lots of sunshine coming our way, especially inside the bay of 5 pleasant 70's. there. even some 80's and some of the interior valleys back along the coastline. a little bit cooler. you've got some patchy fog and a mix of sunshine will keep those temperatures generally in the 60's. now over the next few days taking to the weekend. looks like a nice weekend ahead. high pressure is going to be building in a little less fog on the way. and that means more sunshine and the temperatures warmer both saturday and sunday. thank

you. lawrence said police arrested a man accused of killing 2 people and seriously injuring another in vallejo. >> 45 year-old eddie charles sample is connected to a shooting that killed 2 men last month. it happened at a homeless encampment next to austin creek. a 3rd man was also shot and is recovering from a life-threatening injury. the family of one of the victims claims that sample was allegedly lingering at the encampment for a few days before the shooting. they say he was seen taunting people with a gun. he was booked into jail for double homicide. oakland police are investigating after a dead body was uncovered near lake merritt yesterday evening. a resident reported the discovery last night near lakeside drive and oak street. police say the body was found under a tarp. officers say they did not find any signs of foul play. >> middle school teacher's aide is accused of child molestation and having child abuse material. contra costa county deputies arrested. 25 year-old dominic, the new

chief wednesday. he is a former employee of excelsior middle school in byron officers say they took devices from his home that had child on them. prosecutors filed nearly 2 dozen charges again, spinach he is being held on $800,000 bail. meanwhile, workers with the santa clara valley medical center asking for the public's help. they're trying to identify this guy. he was. taking into scott to be in 30's or 40's about 5, 9, 150 pounds. it was found wearing a light blue. put it shirt with blue jeans. workers say he was involved in some kind of incident. april 25th on the caltrain tracks in santa clara officials are looking for his family or anyone who might to notify them about his medical situation or otherwise. if you have any info about who this is, you're asked to call the santa clara valley medical center. >> a new report claims that developers are allegedly buying up properties in the eaton fire burn area in

southern california. according to the la times around 145 burned. lot have sold so far and around 100. others are currently listed with dozens more in escrow the identities of the buyers. not clear but real estate records suggest that developers are buying the lion's share of these lot. the numbers far outpace the palisades burn area where less than 60 lots have sold since the fire and roughly 180 are sitting on the market. california lawmakers have launched another effort to try to save the state's insurance program in the wake of wildfire payouts. bill has been introduced by southern california. lawmakers, lisa calderon and david alvarez. the bill would open the fair plan to loans and bonds from the infrastructure and economic development bank. the bill was initially introduced last year, but it failed to pass. and as a result, the fair plan had to impose an additional assessment totaling 1 billion dollars on insurers

>> a pleasant surprise at the pump. for drivers prices have been dropping as the summer travel season kicks off the average price for a gallon of regular in california is for 73 down $0.8 from last week. aaa says june gas prices haven't been this low since 2021, the lowest prices in the bay area. right now we're in solano and santa clara counties with an average of 4.80, for a gallon of regular. alaska airlines is canceling more than a dozen flights a day because tariffs they say, are preventing the airline from accepting delivery of new

aircraft. airline officials say they're canceling 14 flights a day through the end of july. the delayed aircraft were expected to arrive from brazil in may. however, brazilian imports to the u.s. have been subjected to a 10% tariff since april. the new planes were supposed to go into service during the summer season to serve several states, including california all right. let's take a live look outside. their san francisco is castro gussied up for pride month? yeah, lawrence is here to bring us an update on and that conditions that seem to be shifting a little bit, but not too extreme. yeah, not drastically. and so that's some good news. i mean, we've kind of been stuck in this really nice pattern, not a bad place to be a little more cloud cover today. >> of cool down the temperatures just a bit in that cloud cover surging onshore tonight. looking out towards sfo. that breeze has been kicking in as well out towards sfo. some winds there over 30 miles per hour. now, as we head through the night

tonight, we're going to see that return and low clouds and fog pushing all the way the teary bay and the valleys overnight tonight. tomorrow morning, we wake up with some patchy fog. then we're off and running with that sunshine by the middle of the day. i think that's an is already peeking out near the coastline, places up toward the beaches. yeah, it's going to be kind of touch and go with the fog in the afternoon. but i think a little more sunshine there this weekend. high pressure is going to strengthen a bit overhead. it's going to be enough to warm up the temgeratures all around the bay area. a few degrees right now. high pressure has been just kind of sitting off the coastline. this area of low pressure been sitting the south and actually springing up some pretty intense storms across the southland southern california, seeing some heavy rainfall, the deserts, even some flooding looking for some flooding right now, just east of vegas right now. but that low is going to start kick to the east as moves out of town. the good news is kyle pressure because to sneak in and we're talking about some warm temperatures, another low pressure develops off the coastline as we head toward tomorrow afternoon and the weekend. but high pressure going to roll over the top of that system. and as it settles in, that's gonna bring with it. some warmer temperatures, the bexar. so really nice

weather forecast to in effect for the weekend and probably in the next week as well as the temperatures going to be heating up. it's going to be hot. the central valley, maybe 102 in redding tomorrow afternoon. 97 degrees and fresno. 92 in sacramento about 98 in bakersfield, much cooler along the coastline. of course, you get that nice seabreeze and the fog out toward the beaches. temperatures breaking that like this in the san francisco. 66 downtown about 6 to 2 in the sunset in 65 degrees. in golden gate park koestler is patchy fog giving way to a little sunshine and you'll see numbers generally in the 60's out toward the beaches. 71 burning game tomorrow. look at that. 76 in san carlos. 72 in san mateo foster city, checking in and a very nice warm 75 degrees. a mix of 70's 80's in the south bay tomorrow afternoon, the east bay of plenty of sunshine, a really throughout the day. and you're gonna warm those temperatures up by tomorrow afternoon. so those numbers probably running a little bit above the average and some of the interior valleys. otherwise you get that seabreeze inside the bay that help cool you down in the afternoon that delta breeze to about 73 degrees and below 78 in benicia warm 84 degrees in fairfield back along the coastline. patchy fog flirt with the coastline and well,
