after day gives only tuesday. i'm darya james boy, we've got a really nice week ahead. if you like mild temperatures, this is your week. okay morning, doe not too bad at all. june has been really easy to get through so far. as far as weather goes. i mean, we've had very little change from last week. now through this week, steady and seasonable. >> looking outside at san jose. there's definitely a lot of cloud cover up above june. gloom is in full force. having rushed in from the coastline. and with that, a lot of fog at the coast through the golden gate into our inland areas and it's going to stay pretty foggy towards the coast with the mist and drizzle out that way. partly cloudy towards the latter half of the morning. even for a bayshore cities. as for our temperatures, that's right. now 50's oakland, san francisco and san mateo at 55 conquered europe. 57 right now. so throw in the light jacket this morning this afternoon. if you're inland, you will definitely not need any jackets, although i'd keep one handy if you are going to be out towards the coastline, right? alright, jumping the

battle in looking at averages right now while not seen any accidents. i am seeing a lot of traffic out there. so yeah, people traveling this morning. 21 minutes on our bay bridge. metering lights. that's a slowing you down. 17 along our san mateo. and you see just a little bit of mist there on that camera land. so definitely drive a little slower case. the roads are wet. 26 on a richmond center fell last check. it like 20 minutes. so we've gone up and 21 on that golden gate bridge starting. james, back to you. thank you. reyna. 71 in the breaking news from overnight. more anti ice protests. >> in southern california and president trump doubling down on sending in the military to stop them. yeah. in fact, the president says he's prepared to send more national guard troops and active marine troops to los angeles. >> president says these protests he believes are out of control. however, governor newsom says that's not true and that local police can handle any unrest. our dc correspondent vinay simlot starts our team coverage. >> president donald trump's

orders says those federal troops are in los angeles primarily to help out with immigration enforcement and to protect federal buildings. but california officials have sued the federal government. they say federal troops in los angeles is a serious violation of states rights and it's made the situation more inflamed. >> this was chaos that was started in washington, d.c., california leaders say president donald trump made these protests. president activated 2000 national guard members to la on sunday against the wishes of governor gavin newsom. on monday, he surged to 1000 more and deployed 700 marines to the area. governor newsom next. this isn't about public safety. it's about stroking a dangerous president's ego. the introduction of federal military personnel without direct coordination. >> creates logistical challenges and risks. confusion during critical incidents. los angeles police

chief jim mcdonnell says his officers have decades of experience managing protests and making arrests. but at the white house, president trump says he's trying to restore order to la cars burning all over the place people riding. and by the way, we stopped it. >> we were able to make it much better. white house borders are tom homan threatened to arrest anyone including public officials if they obstruct immigration raids. president trump called for the arrest of the california governor's. >> at top everybody those national guard and marines are not allowed to conduct civilian law enforcement on american soil unless president trump invokes the insurrection act. and so far he has not done that in washington. i'm today some light. back to you. all right. thank you. in a meantime, in the bay area, extra officers have been called in to san francisco. >> to help with protests in union square. they clashed

again last night with the plane. they did. it's the story. the cropper is joey horta is following for u.s. live from union square where we can see behind you. joey son boarded up windows. >> well, guys, at this point, those officers have dispersed. they are no longer here in union square again. but thousands of people, as pd say, were protesting across the city overnight. the nike store is still boarded up this morning here at union square. meanwhile, police extra police were on hand around the city and there were extra or rather additional clashes with officers and protesters. take a look. that's at market in polk last night. police in riot gear pushing back. protesters tried to break through the barricade. officers appear to be firing less than lethal weapons. mayor daniel lurie saying monday night's crowd became even bigger than sunday's most. a calmer, though. well,

most of the crowd followed orders to disperse. lori does say that 2 small groups became violent, causing vandalism forcing officers to make arrests. >> we will not tolerate violent and destructive behavior and we will never tolerate violence directed at law enforcement or city workers. our public servants are there to protect the right to protest and the right to be safe. violent behavior. towards them is an acceptable. >> the mayor also says he is in touch with the organizers of the protests working to maintain the peace with them. law enforcement from nearby cities also on hand in san francisco last night as part of the mutual aid system. we also saw a great deal of graffiti that sort of vandalism. some boarded up broken glass as well in the mission this morning. and it's

unclear how many protesters were actually arrested in the city last night. back to yeah, thanks. a lot joy. in fact, he referred to the mission district. we do have some video of that protest against ice in the mission. >> yesterday protesting again the same thing. trump's deployment of the military in los angeles and the ice raids that have happened in the bay area, especially in immigration courts, hundreds of people packing the intersection here of 24th and mission streets and saying that they are tired of seeing this happen again and again. >> this is going remain a sanctuary city where ice is not welcome. if come to our city. >> they marched from the bart station at 24 street down to 16th street, hoping to call attention to this situation. things turned a little tense here where they passed the mission police station and the police were just standing out looking on their word. any clashes there, though. another

protest is planned for the mission neighborhood on june 14th at dolores park. >> well, immigration activists in the bay area want you to know what your rights are. if you're contacted by ice and you they are emphasizing the importance of having resources in this climate crop for stephanie rothman has more. the trump administration's crackdown on the immigrant community has fueled a wave of fear and uncertainty. >> many organization saying people are too scared to go about their lives in fear. they'll be targeted. but local groups do want them to know there are ways to stand up. tensions escalating in the bay area after an immigration protests in san francisco turned violent overnight sparking over 150 arrests. striations and fears on full display after weeks of ice activity across la and the bay area specifically at court houses in san francisco for.

>> showing up to accompany them to their court hearings into their chickens. we're sending legal observers, another volunteer observers to see what's going on to make sure that if anything happens, we can go ahead and activate legal response. sonic on the hodge and with bay area immigration services organization, mission action. >> says the community should be aware of their rights if confronted and intimidated by ice agents. they do not have to speak to an ice agent. sign anything or allow for them to enter without attorney present and often times they don't have a warrant. and if they do not have a warrant signed by a judge, they cannot enter your private property. the mission action hotline has seen an influx of callers and request of accompanying them at hearings, faith in action bay area is a rapid response team that works with mission action. they go to their jobs. they do what they can and they come home. >> they're nervous about going to the store. they're nervous about so many things in the

city council members will release their budget amendments and policy directives for the upcoming fiscal year. one of the main amendment. so it'll be addressed is the restoration of all fire stations except for 3 month, except for 3 months during winter as opposed to the current plan, which called for one station to be closed at all times on a rotating basis it also restores more police services to get more officers on the streets. they'll gather at the front of city hall at 9 o'clock this morning to make the announcements. >> vta may need to find a new contractor to move forward. the bart extension project because they're trying to save some money this week. they plan to recommend finding a new tunnel contractor. the current contractor is kst and they've been working on this project since 2022. but bt officials and key st have now been unable to come to an agreement on a price. actual construction of the tunnel and the transit agency wants to try to save anywhere from 700 million to 1.0, 2 billion

>> 7.14. the time we are back happening today, the department of motor vehicles will hold a public hearing on center in san francisco on regulating autonomous vehicles on california's public roads. the public hearing will focus vpon both light duty and heavy duty. commercial vehicles will take place at california. public utilities commission's auditorium in san francisco at 9 o'clock this morning, the california senate and assembly of reach an agreement to fund public transit. >> trying to avert mass service cuts. this deal will reject. governor newsom's proposed 1.1 billion dollar cut to public transit and extends an interest free loan of 750 million dollars for the bay area to avoid cuts over the next 2 years. lawmakers are now working on a bill to generate additional operational funding to help stabilize the system. long term. san francisco mayor daniel lurie says that the

federal money is crucial in stabilizing muni financially and helping san francisco ins and visitors get where they need to go. >> well, it is 72 now and definitely on the grid here side yet again this morning, june gloom every morning. so far this month we've had it this morning's, though it is very compressed in and will be very present along the bay shore in the coastline for quite a few hours. in fact, watch for a little mist and drizzle as you're getting out there. here's a view from above it all from mount tam. now this morning, obviously gray inland areas. you've got some sun out there and we'll enjoy some of our warmer temps this afternoon to our north. take a look at what yesterday afternoon offered up northern lake and mendocino counties. one after the next thunder storms popping up up there yesterday afternoon. same for the southern cascades. much of that activity will shift out towards the nevada border today. so for those of you watching up along the northern coast of the state, you guys are going to be a whole lot calmer today than yesterday

was high pressure. ridge still centered up to the south of us while the slow skirts its way just to our north, that's actually going to result in a slightly cooler forecast in the days ahead of us. that'll take some of us out of the 80's inland back down into the 70's. today's highs 60's at the coast and in san francisco, a few 50's mixed in at the coastline as well while 60's to 70's for the bayshore areas like redwood city and san carlos, you'll see partly cloudy skies, but a nice 70 degrees will feel pretty good. san jose warm at 76 1 morgan hill, one of our warmer spots at 86 70's in the tri valley on up through walnut creek and concord. while oakland and berkeley at 64 degrees, each north bay, temperatures sharing a range of 70's to 80's inland and 50's and 60's at the coast. looking ahead, definitely a cooler trend of numbers. you can see our inland areas falling into the 70's for the most part and bayshore cities mostly in the 60's in the days to come partly cloudy mornings with sunny afternoons right

receive expanded medical services through a new program called nurse navigation. the new service will basically determine an appropriate treatment and help coordinate access to care without requiring emergency care or transport. the nurse navigator service does not require the color to have medical insurance. there's no cost to it. so it's free ambulances and fire personnel will still be dispatched if needed for urgent life-threatening or potentially life-threatening emergencies. all right. we're going to take a break here at 7.22. but still ahead, a major shakeup now, the cdc and how vaccines for americans are going to be approved going forward. >> we'll explain.

at 7.24. delay. a police chase down suspects after a bold break-in in broad daylight. utility worker says he saw several people breaking into iis work truck. he gave police a detailed description of the getaway car officer spotted that car near broadway street and lewis brown drive. when they approached, though the driver took off recklessly forcing police to end that chase. shortly after however, officers say they spotted 2 people breaking into a gmc yukon. police were able to stop the suspect vehicle and discovered a loaded gun and burglary tools inside. they ended up arresting 3 adults and 2 teens happening today in the south bay family's city leaders and community advocates. >> from all across santa clara county are going to gather and demand affordable child care in santa clara county. the cost childcare is among the highest places in the nation. the average about $31,000 a

protesters hit the streets of downtown la for the 4th day in a row. i hope that we will be heard. >> because our city is trying to move forward. that says she knows of at least 5 more ice raised in the southern california area. i can't emphasize enough. >> the level of fear and terror that is in angelenos right now. not knowing if tomorrow or tonight it might be where they live. it might be their workplace, but she says that's to no reason for any violence or vandalism. it infuriated me. >> but it also just said me to drive through downtown right now and to see the level of obscene graffiti all over buildings. la police chief jim mcdonnell reiterated that such actions will not be tolerated. those who choose to incite violence engage in vandalism or graffiti >> and or attack officers will be arrested. there is no tolerance for criminal

activity under the guise of protest because of criminal activity. the lapd remains tactical alert which allows officers to be held for overtime, put off duty officers on alert and bringing resources from other sow cow law enforcement partners, our ability to scale up quickly is essential during this kind of fluid and unpredictable situation. as for the trump administration sending in the national guard and the marines to la this is mcdonnell's understanding of their mission. the national guard were federalized by the president to support federal agents who are working on behalf of ice to do their operation. the marines were brought in then today, evidently. >> to join army national guard in doing what their main mission has been identified as which is the protection of federal employees and federal property. >> well, here closer to home, san francisco police had to call in extra help from agencies across the bay area

just to protect city hall. and these protesters also protesting ice rays and the presence of the military in la. and it's the second night in a row. we've seen unrest. conference will tran is live side of city hall with more. well. >> changed area. just to give you perspective, i have reported in front of san francisco city hall countless times throughout the decades. and i can tell you this morning, i see a lot of patrols around this area and nobody stationary when it comes to police officers. but the patrols are certainly very frequent compared to what i've seen in the past. as far as what happened in san francisco city hall yesterday. did have a lot officers station that this location probably started in the early afternoon because we do know that there was a protest in front of city hall starting at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon. people protesting ice as well as president trump's new travel ban. but this morning, we

don't see any vandalism are broken windows as far as city hall is concerned. now, police officers, of course, they were all over san francisco yesterday on van ness and market in the mission district. just to keep an eye on the protesters wherever they were. police officers were there. and of course, from time to time, there were clashes between the 2 groups now from sunday to monday, we saw 147 people arrested last night. not as many people. we have not gotten the official numbers yet, but we are not hearing as far as the volume of people compared to just a couple of days ago as far as san francisco city hall. they are reiterating their stance that san francisco is in fact, the sanctuary city, that they will do all that they can to help the immigrant community that they will not assist ice. it is not their job to deep port, but they did say that if there is violence and

vandalism, that's when the protection ends. and then that's when the police officers will move in and make arrests back to you. thank you very much. will. >> we tolerate violence we need to do everything we can on our side to remain vigilant and disciplined. >> california politicians and leaders across the board don't like that. the military moved in to control crowds and southern california. and they also don't like crowds misbehaving. they say that they are outraged by the president's order. and at the same time, they're urging protesters across the state to remain lawful. >> the military on to the streets of that is not normal. that is not normal. that is the saw. the sign of an emerging authoritarian >> president trump continues to defend his handling of the unrest while sam liccardo says

the deployment of troops is constrained to the defense of federal property remains to be seen how this is actually unfolding and how they're actually being used. >> well, a call for action now from both him and the immigrant community and the unhoused community too close to 500 people rallied in front of san jose city hall monday demanding the city leaders address both those issues. they're calling on the city council to invest more than a million dollars into legal defense for undocumented families. crawford's jack moment has more. >> hundreds of people protesting outside san jose city hall monday against the increasing ice arrest seen across the country. not powerless back. why would he a federal crackdown migrants. the group also protesting mayor matt mahan proposal to arrest on house people if they refuse shelter repeatedly,

migrants and allies arrived at the state capitol monday after a three-day walk from vacaville. the group did it as a form of protest against mass deportations. >> and we're asking for our leaders and our state officials to step up to protect immigrants, pay to pathway to citizenship, to be more support, including health care medical from here. >> yeah. the group is urging the state of california to pass a resolution condemning the deportations and supporting a path to citizenship. but walker's demands also include adequate funding for medicare all for undocumented immigrants and also calling for no use of alcatraz travis air force base or the prison in dublin to incarcerate immigrants. the head of a nonprofit that provides free legal services to low-income residents is pledging to go on a hunger strike over san francisco. mayor daniel lurie's proposed 4.2 million dollars. civil legal aid cuts, executive director of open door legal adrian, our tom tartan andi

says that he will begin his hunger strike tomorrow. he says these cuts could force hundreds into homelessness. adding that he will not eat until this funding is restored. labor and community leaders turned out at that protest last week at city hall demonstrating against the cuts 7.40, right now. and there is a coffee lawsuit. >> that is brewing in the east bay. the u.s. justice department is moving forward. >> with this lawsuit against an oakland coffee house accused of discrimination. federal prosecutors say the owners of jerusalem coffee house on telegraph avenue refused serve to customers because they just played the star of david and the lawsuit alleges that on 2 occasions jewish customers were asked to leave repeatedly and the customers are also told they support genocide and that they were trespassing. >> still ahead this morning on the kron 4 morning news, the golden state about threes sinking or should say sick.
