inland spots. as we do move into tomorrow morning. do expect another dose of a low grade to kick things off much as we have been seeing pretty strong westerly wind, again, breezy through fairfield up into the delta as well as through the golden gate. so watch those bridge crossings has a few areas. could see some stronger gusts 50's for your current temperatures with conquered in berkeley at 53 oakland in san mateo, both at 54 to get this morning started. so all in all today is offering up something super familiar. a very gray start inland areas. do you do get that clearing the rest of the week is going to trend just a little bit cooler, which i'll be talking all about. still to come. >> it's still pretty early that 7 minutes across the bay bridge. definitely a sign that the morning commute not kicked in to gear just yet san mateo bridge at 12 minutes. the limit there. our other spans do watch out for some mist and drizzle that marine layer pretty condensed this morning. and with that does come a few

spots where you may use the windshield wipers, right? all right. on the eve of that developing in the east bay where at least one car set on fire last night. >> along with businesses vandalized and looted in oakland, our crews actually captured this scene along international boulevard right near 35th avenue. they say vandals broke into the store caught chic, which according to its website, is a shoe store. this is in the area where a vigil last evening for people who are detained by ice. now we reached out to oakland police trying to get more details. update you as soon as we hear back first from where sara stinson reports, what was a peaceful vigil for ice detainees? take a look. >> dozens packed into mileage in oakland tuesday night for a candlelight vigil for thousands of people detained by ice. we pray in this. >> after new and this concord

know, come together. i'm sara stinson reporting in oakland kron. 4 news. >> and san francisco, roughly 300 protesters. yeah, that outside of an immigration courthouse on montgomery street tuesday. this comes after reports of ice arrested several immigrants showed up to court hearings. take a look. >> we're being portrayad as folks that are not law abiding. a guest remembrance. we are everybody that's coming here today. want to be able to follow the rule of law. unfortunately, administration is not doing the same. >> demonstrators claim the immigration court closed early tuesday because of the protests. the court is not confirm if that's true. time now 506. meanwhile, over in the east bay reports of ice detaining people in concord where flooding in on tuesday, an attorney with the public defender's offices. i showed up to immigration court and detained 4 people that were there sparking an impromptu protest overs kerman tells us the details.

>> most of these folks didn't expect to be here today but heard about the arrest through social media email and decided to show up. >> immigration attorney with the contra costa county public defender's office shot this video of arrest being made outside immigration court in concord. ice was here this morning. they were. >> moving to certain people's court hearings and then detaining take them from processing. it was targeted enforcement for specific people. and there were 4 people that were detained this morning. word of the arrest spread on social media in an impromptu protest rally outside the building that houses the courts. >> has been going on for much of the day. >> here to support my people since my family are immigrants. my people are immigrants and i'm here to show i want people to know that people are just coming to us for, you know, better opportunities and to. it's, you know, provide a better life for their families. and

everyone wants opportunity and it shouldn't be police like ice would not confirm or deny the concord arrests. but attorneys on scene said they are illegal. i think that the tactics that they take yes, are unlawful avoid giving people full due process. that said attorneys warn those who do have an immigration court date should not avoid it. >> what's extremely important people to comento their hearings because cannot they will be ordered deported in their absence and that they will have an active criminal what that that causes allows. nice to remove there for the 4 people that were detained here. their process is not know of his rallies are prompting. you can expect them to continue. >> is folks are all tied in to social media and they say if they hear of more arrests, they will be back in concord. dan kerman kron. 4 >> in los angeles, less than an hour left of that curfew for parts of downtown that went into effect at 8 o'clock. lapd officers moved in some on horseback, pushing the crowd

away from the federal detention center and they started arresting people, refused to leave. la mayor karen bass is the curfew is likely not a one time deal. she said it would last for several days in parts of downtown area. meanwhile, governor newsom is condemning president donald trump's deployment of members of the military to southern california in a virtual address to the state yesterday evening, the governor said trump's immigration enforcement in response to protests are threatening democracy. >> if some of us could be snatched off the streets without a warrant based only on suspicion or skin color, then none of us are safe. authoritarian regimes beginning by targeting people who are least able to defend themselves. but they do not stop there. trump and his loyalists, they thrive on division because it allows them to take more power and exert even more control. >> so far, president trump has sent nearly 5,000 military troops to los angeles. governor newsom and attorney general rob bonta. they filed

a lawsuit to block the deployment. san francisco federal judge charles breyer denied that request. the scheduled hearing on the matter for tomorrow. >> judge breyer, who i've known for many years is as a mature, experienced and not a hot headed judge. he's a calm decision-maker. it's a good thing. trump administration described him as a leftist, a few rules against them. but he's not view a leftist. he's viewed as a sort of a moderate judge. >> well, that's you see law, san francisco professor rory little, even his insight on how we could see things turn out come tomorrow saying the judge could order the president to stop or slow down. he says the governor warning us with their decision to be made is not likely, though, since the judicial system. it's not fast enough to stop something like this. little says deployment of troops is not necessarily an s been about 26 times since the country was founded where military chips for use domestically to make peace during those riots. he does

bay yesterday along the bay shore in the coastline. it stayed mostly cloudy in many cases inland areas did see a good dose of sun yesterday. also, we saw thunderstorm activity really pushed out towards the nevada border. so much calmer, one for the northern part of the bay area, which we will also see today, much calmer conditions, high pressure ridge to our south below steering and some cooler air to our north. we're right in the middle of these 2 competing systems right here, which means no dramatic effect on either side. certainly no rain, but also no heat wave just yet. so we get moderated temperatures and your pretty typical june forecast, which does bring that morning. gray followed by seasonably warm afternoon highs today is going to be a day of cool weather in the city. upper 50's to low 60's. absolutely one for the layers and san francisco and at the coastline. lot of the rest of the bay area in the 60's to 70's today with really only a few spots at this point hanging on to the 80's. among those areas as morgan hill.

while los gatos, you're down to 78 today in san jose at 71 solid 70's for livermore and pleasanton while hopefully 60's in dublin. that is cool for this time of year. while the creek at 72 berkeley and oakland at 63 today, vacaville another one of our few spots that will actually hit the 80's today. so definitely on the cooler side that cool air is pulled in. and with that, we enjoy quite the cool down today with average highs in the 70's tomorrow, temperatures quite the same as will stay through saturday. next week does begin to trend warmer as you can see by next tuesday. there's those 90's that we haven't seen in quite some time at this point. roads are doing okay. it's 8 minutes across the bay bridge. that's a pretty good drive times so far. as for your other spans, just watch for some mist and drizzle at times you are going to see mostly cloudy skies. so that should mean too much glare from the sun this morning as the gray is in full effect. all right, john, the for that animal rights activits outrage after a dog.

>> is run over and killed in san jose. woman tried to help save that dog says she's upset with the city's animal services. and this situation highlights the problem at the city shelter as well. we do want to warn you some of the videos and pitchers in this story might be disturbing. how was that moment has that story? >> video shot over the weekend shows several dogs walking without a leash and sometimes on the road in san jose. courtney farrow says she was with her husband when they came across the troubling sight. there really a mediated man lying on the sidewalk and he does start to indicate that all 3 dogs belong to him. a rope had just quit her job at the city-run animal shelter. she says the ongoing and well documented neglect and overcrowding was too much. but in this moment, she says she cannot walk away being on site for a while and just determining that the dogs were in danger. she managed to take night who was bleeding from his leg to a vet. one of the other dogs, though, this black and white pointer dog. so animal control told me that, you know, saturday they were

busy, but they do their best to get out there soon. soon was not enough. and i see a post about blossom hill driver >> having hit large black and white dog. my heart immediately just like dropped the dog hit and killed animal control. according to faro arrived to the scene 13 hours after the fact i made me feel extremely frustrated. i know that field operations that unit, the animal control officers, they're short-staffed. they had one person on. apparently rebecca davis. matthews also used to work at the shelter and has been document to the longstanding issues with the city animal services. for months. the shelter >> has problems in many areas. and this is just highlighting that they're also they also issues in field services. at december, a scathing audit came out and made dozens of recommendations for the shelter. it found neglect, unkempt kennels and overcrowding. >> and so we have a plan to implement the 39 things in this calendar year. not last as the department of public

works. director says they work closely with the auditor and are determined to improve the shelter and other services. the biggest challenge is the volume of things we need to work on as well as care for thousands and thousands of animals. but in regards to animal control, less says they're doing everything they can. they have to respond to our 180 square miles of just san jose. plus, the other 3 cities that we support less promises improvements to the shelter are coming and for ferro that can't come soon enough. leadership needs to go. and even in his short time at the shelter issues persist it like no vets working during the weekend allowing animals to suffer for days. so a lot of these cats that we see are suffering. we up ticket and sometimes this never even happens. a lot of them die. >> the department of public works says they hope to fix that issue soon by hiring at least one more veterinarian to work here at the shelter reporting here in san jose jacmel. but kron 4 news protests continue in los angeles and across the country over immigration raids, president donald trump defended sending troops to los angeles, washington correspondent some lot joins

then lies with anti-semitism, graffiti directed at the owner's jewish background. he said in addition cleaning up, he's dealing with a whole host of emotions. he's been asking people in the community to help with those repairs and those damages. there's a gofundme. they've already raised $103,000 that a link to that on our website. kron 4 dot com. all right. was story we go into next. all right. meanwhile, nearly 100 people right to detain monday night after a small group broke away from the main protest. they started causing some issues. they are. daniel lurie says that despite the vandalism and violence that occurred, thanks to protest were fairly calm 1000 protesters angered by recent actions by ice march of the mission and right near city hall, the sarasota police department says that around 10:00pm monday, some of the crowd starting causing problems, including vandalizing nearby businesses. police say that's when the trouble started the to clear

the assembly, unlawful and detained about 92 people using nonlethal force is in the process. in the south bay to san jose city council. they've approved mayor matt mahan controversial plan to potentially arrests unhoused people if they refuse shelter multiple times. proposal is part of agenda aimed at trying to reduce homelessness in the city. four's will tran is in san jose with more on that will. here's what's going to happen. >> if you are homeless in san jose and you refuse help 3 times in the span of 18 years, you could get shelter. but now the shelter you looking for it would be in the form of jail. now the san jose city council as well as the police officers, they have extra tools at their disposal to move people off the streets and into shelters. they had been doing this for years is been very controversial because a lot of people claim, including critics that this

criminalizes homelessness. but the city of san jose say they have been trying for years and spending hundreds of millions of dollars to try to fix this problem. and a lot of people are unable or unwilling to move in. and that's why the city council yesterday voted to pass this new ordinance that will basically go into effect in a couple of months from now. take a look at your screen. we want to show you a statement. but mayor matt mahan, he's very proud of this. and he says that, in fact, san jose has built a lot of shelters, perhaps more than any other city along the west coast and they are trying to tackle the homeless situation. he says we see menton. we cemented our commitment to open 1000 new interim housing units, more than any other city on the west coast using measure e funds and gave our outreach workers and police officers new tools to make sure people choose housing or treatment when it's available through our responsibility to shelter policy. and that's exactly what the policy is

called responsibility to shelter. yes, its very controversial but i can tell you that the san jose fire department and police department, they both endorse this new policy. back to all right. we'll be checking back in with you later. thanks. will. was estimated annual lori's taken steps to crack down on rv encampments. the mayor introduced new legislation. >> to the board of supervisors but actually limit how long people can park their rv's. lori is saying that all these are affecting neighborhoods, posing a threat to public safety. his new socon breaking the cycle plan would. but anybody with parks, a large car and one spot for more than 2 hours. advocates are speaking out against the measure saying it would do more harm than good. these are families that have kids in school in san francisco. these are our workers and restaurants and cafes. >> these are our elders that have lived here their entire lives that are getting priced out. these are, you know, san franciscans that we should care about. a recent city data found the amount of people living in cars jumped 37% from

2022. 24. >> nearly 1500 people. a former bexar educator and current board of education member in sandra fell city schools has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a student at least 3 sepacate incidents. police say 22 your own leeco demo road he's facing numerous charges for this inappropriate contact they believe started in late 2023. he was actually employed at marines. community school in sandra fell that he left in june of 2024. police say assistance services and resources have been provided to the victim. happening today, a budget hearing starts oakland as city officials trying solve the city's financial crisis without cutting key services. crawford's theresa has that story. >> reversing course. i am really proud of the work my budget team was able to do on proposing extremely thoughtful amendments. oakland city councilmember ramachandran revealing new amendments to the 2025 through 2027 budget.

staving off 265 million dollar deficit. >> and improving on public safety. this is a mindful budget that really trash prioritize fiscal health. >> it is it is fully balanced. ramachandran and 3 other council members worked on the budget team reversing one of the proposed fire station brownouts. are investing significantly in illegal dumping working for 4 million dollars in illegal dumping related work in technology. she also added on like former mayor sheng taos budget which relied heavily on the coliseum sale. >> this new budget works with current revenue. tao was removed in a recall and that deal is still in the works because we didn't get the colhseum money and time and the deal still has not been finalized. >> there was a series of budget cuts in contingency funds. but isn't all all of

this wildly irresponsible last minute things that could have been avoided if we didn't use that money and this budget does not take into account anything along those lines. there's a lot of and a lot of requests about where to pull are extremely limited budget in different directions. but what we wanted to focus on is the number one issue that our residents are asking of us, which is invest in public safety. the budget hearing starts wednesday at 09:00am in the newsroom. theresa kron, 4 news. >> day 8. san francisco supervisors along with legal aid advocates and union leaders. rally on the steps of city hall. the protests teammate daniel lurie's proposed 4.2 million dollar cut to civil legal aid advocates who say could actually push over 300 people into homelessness each year open or legal. adrian shandi will start a hunger strike at that event. organizers say the cuts threaten critical eviction defense and housing services for low-income residents. rally starts at 9 this morning. it's a huge week
